Alarms

Alarms can be fatal or non fatal (Status Word available on the LCD

in ALT modes, and through read-out, and communications)

Some alarms are cleared automatically (self healing), some other

upon a reset command (trapped).

According to configuration, occurrences of alarms can be recorded

in the log book

Main Parameters Protection

Some parameters due to their importance can be protected by an internal switch called “lab switch”.

Those parameters are linked to metrology, secondary metrology, qualimetry, energy and demand channels, load profile.

In the previous versions, this lab switch activation could be done through external software AIMSPRO.

In IEC5, for more security this activation can be done during manufacturing…But we are coming back (V5.70) to the previous flexibility (too many serious operational pbs due to “misunderstandings”)

Meter will manage alarm monitoring using aggregate relative THD values. When the aggregate THD relative value increases strictly above the upper threshold, an event is sent to record the default, and when the value decreases strictly under the lower threshold, the duration and magnitudes are recorded, and the end of the default is notified (same behaviour as Voltage quality). A defect counter is also incremented.

A finer harmonic analysis require more advanced equipments The wave form of the results recorded in the meter can be viewed through ACE Vision also

with the up to 13 harmonics view.

High industrial and T&D applications

SCADA feature SCADA means Supervisory Control And Data Acquisition. A SCADA is used to

supervisory a system using a lot of measuring point. Aim of the Real Time port (RTP) is

to insert an ACE SL7000 meter into a utility SCADA system. Using a SCADA with “real

time” data acquisition will improve the management of Utility network.

The real time port function uses the IEC62056-21 mode C protocol (readout).

This protocol is available on customer and utility port (according to configuration).

To be compliant with existing systems, the protocol used on customer link and utility

link is configurable (TCP or HDLC or IEC62056-21). For SCADA applications, IEC62065-21

is to be chosen.

A manufacturer parameter activates or deactivates the ability to configure IEC62056-21

protocol.

Enhancement of fraud tampering functions As fraud by external magnet is increasing dramatically, utilities request the meters to

be more immune and able to detect the fraud when occurring. Immunity:

> addition of a special internal shield, the ACE SL7000 meter is totally immune to the effects caused by an external magnet of up to 0.5T on all faces except the backside. The metrology is not perturbed.

> With an added back side spacer, the meter is now fully immune to any external field up to 0.5T from any sides including back side.

Detection:> IEC5 version offers optionally the detection of external magnet from all sides from

40mT (Optical head does not disturb). Upon detection, alarm is created and treated as all other alarms (display, LP, call).

Action upon detection (special request from Malaysia): > special Total Energy Register must be created with Imax. Value during the fraud > Under some strict conditions and upon configuration, the meter can store in a separate

register the TER based on Imax. During occurrence of magnet sensor tampering window.

Compliance with international standards

Compatibility with CTT V1.02The ACE SL7000 COSEM implementation is updated in order to comply with the latest official

COSEM conformance tests defined by the DLMS UA and run by the Conformance test tool (CTT) V1.02.

CTT V2 coming in next firmware release V5.70

MID complianceThe latest version IEC5 V 5.35 is MID module B compliant. The MID compliance has some effect

over the meter behaviour.The MID compliance will be activated into the meter on customer request, it is a manufacturer

parameter.The MID compliance is given:

• By official laboratory (NMI) for meter compliance module B• By official office (LNE in France) for meter manufacturing compliance

module DSL7000 IEC5 Hardware and FW V 5.35 is compliant module B and D.

Severe conditions on low voltage networks

In some countries the low voltage network either in direct connection (LV DC) or transformer connection (LV CT) presents high peaks on voltage level.

The power supply has been enhanced and now voltage can continuously withstand is 600V Phase/Phase.

Sparklet modem mechanical integration The new Actaris Sparklet modem can be fixed directly under the extended

terminal cover. This modem is directly power supplied by the meter. This is not available on short and normal terminal covers.

External mechanical and display enhancements Better feeling on push buttons actions

> From IEC5, new push buttons have been integrated giving a much better sensation of the push action.

Better visibility of data's on display > As the previous backlight was too weak, the IEC5 version offers a new LCD with

better contrast and a blue back light improving the readability in darkness conditions.

Better visibility of LCD test mode: > The LCD test is now a selectable parameter, which can be included into each

programmable list:– Normal – Alternate Long – Alternate short.

> The test mode is now available on scrolling mode.

Some utilities (like in Nigeria) want to have the primary scaled values of U

and I in addition to the secondary one’s

> It is possible to get the primary voltage calculation for each phase at each

second. The result can be displayed on the meter LCD if programmed.

> Depending of the network meter connection type, the calculation is done:

• Between phase and neutral or

• Between phases if connection is 3 wires.

Specific local market drivers: Brazil

In order to penalize final customers, when the meter measures too low power factor, some specific excess registers will be used, with particular algorithm called UFER.

Main features:

• Energy and Demand “contribution” from Reactive consumption in case of too low PF (typically 0.92) can be billed to cutomer

• Depending on time of day either inductive or capacitive reactive consumption is penalised

• Excess energy calculation over configured interval (typically 60 minutes)• Maximum excess demand memorization• UFER period programmable.

Control output EOI duration programmable up to 9s

> When the function “end of integration” (EOI) is programmed on specific outputs, the duration allocated can be programmed up to 9 seconds. All previous version had value equal to 1 second which was not programmable.

Customers may use the SCADA function previously described.

Some utilize the communication port RS485 programmed as customer port.

In the past version up to IEC4, this port can be disturbed when utility reads or reprogram locally through optical port.

This is solved now with IEC5:

> The RS485 port is never disturbed by usage of optical port> The two ports RS232 and RS485 are exactly at the same place than before.

Specific local market drivers: Latin America

In some countries of Latin America such as Dom. Rep. , utilities use often the current reversal detection.

IEC5 offers a better management of this detection:

In order to improve a the management of the handling of current reversal alarms, a temporization equal to 10 seconds has been added before to switch to Import or export consumption, in other word the current reversal will be taken into account not immediately, but only after 10 seconds.
