Salt & Light is an international family of leaders and churches, joined together by good friendships, shared values and common purpose.

Our passion is to see God’s church equipped to be all that it should be as his ambassador to a fallen world, extending God’s Kingdom in every sphere of life and blessing the people of God’s world. The church is God’s ‘Plan A’!

God does not want isolated lonely churches – he wants family – so we choose to work together as a family of churches and leaders, together on this mission.

What is

?

Our family of churches started in the late 1960s as relationships developed between Barney Coombs and other UK church leaders in the ‘new church’ movement. Now the Salt & Light family can be found in Europe, Canada, USA, Asia and Africa.

The family is growing as God develops relationships with leaders in other nations and as we plant churches. Our European family and friends can be found in Belgium, Czech Republic, Estonia, France, Ireland, Norway, Poland, Slovakia, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland and Ukraine, as well as the UK. Many of those churches may not ‘label’ themselves Salt & Light – the important thing to us is that God has joined us together for mission!

As a family of churches one of our convictions is that everything healthy is connected to something larger – every church needs to be part of a wider family and a bigger vision, both for its own sake and for the sake of God’s kingdom impacting society! Every leader needs a place of accountability and support – someone to talk to, bring perspective, wisdom and help – and every church needs to work with ‘Ephesians 4’ (or ‘apostolic’) teams, helping lay foundations of vision, doctrine, eldership, relational life and mission.

The UK family of churches is committed to 2020vision, a vision to pioneer, proclaim and transform – together! To help us develop that vision we have established goals in the following 4 areas:

As well as encouraging every local church to make a difference for God where it is, we do certain things together because we think we can be stronger together.

• Conferences: Our annual Leaders’ Conferences, regional events and Leaders’ Summits envision and equip leaders, as well as being an important time to connect relationally to other leaders• Transform: Our annual summer events gather our UK family together to be equipped to serve Christ and his Kingdom.• Training, publications and resources: Our training initiatives include training in leadership, theology, and ministry skills. We publish books and other resources for churches available from our website and on-line shop.• The Goal 4 Team is working to help us grow as churches that make a real difference in our locality and nationally, transforming our society!• The UK Youth Team gathers, trains and sends 11-18s across our family of churches.
