Inbound Access SchemeThe unique Frequency and Time DivisionMultiple Access (FTDMA) scheme isdesigned to maximize return path bandwidthefficiency. It automatically distributes trafficacross the channel spectrum by allowingindividual remote sites to transmit on any

channel at any time. Consequently, the trafficload is balanced across the channels.

Turbo Coding & Collision ReductionApplication (CRA)Inbound Turbo Coding enables the operatorto better utilize the space segment increasinginbound channel speed.CRA is a sophisticated patented inboundtraffic load detection algorithm, whenactivated, it reduces the collision rate in theFTDMA access scheme.

A Skystar 360E network consists of a central hub, many VSATterminals based in dispersed locations, and a satellite channel.The hub consists of base band equipment and an RF terminal(RFT). Remote terminals are composed of a small outdoorantenna, an outdoor unit (ODU) and an indoor unit (IDU).The indoor unit is a stand-alone box that connects to the user'sPC (or different data device) via an Ethernet LAN or anoptional serial port. At the hub, the base band equipmentcontrols the satellite transmission and interfaces with thecustomer’s data equipment.

A user friendly Network Management System (NMS) providescentralized monitoring and control, using statistics, alarms,network configuration and report generation. Corporate contentis sent from the company's headquarters to the hub where it isup-linked and distributed to remote locations via satellite.Information can be sent to a single location, a group of locations

or all locations. Delivery confirmation andother data, including file uploads, are

sent back to headquarters via thesatellite return channel.

Optionally, additionalinteractive data applications can be utilized on the same platformto carry X.25 or Async. traffic.

Broadband Internet/Intranet AccessThe Skystar 360E provides an “always-on” connection forinstant access to the Internet and corporate Intranet. Withoutbound bit rates of up to 52.5 Mbps, users enjoy high-speedconnectivity. The product embedded TCP/IP implementationcoupled with unique Internet browsing acceleration technologiesprovides high performance and an enhanced user experience.

IP MulticastIP Multicasting, the delivery of data to a defined subscriberbase, is useful for applications such as file distribution andsoftware downloads. Data can be targeted at a specific group,whether they are employees or customers. Satellite multicastensures that information is delivered simultaneously, withoutsending multiple copies.

Video ConferencingThe Skystar 360E supports interactive video conferencingbetween the hub and the remote offices. In this way, internalcorporate meetings can take place between headquarters andvarious branch offices. Participants can see and hear each otherfrom TV screens or monitors and can benefit from realistic andinteractive communication.

Corporate TrainingCorporate training via satellite allows employees to be updatedwith the latest developments in the company, regardless oftheir location, without incurring travel costs. With DVBtransmission, the Skystar 360E enables employees to see andhear their instructor from their remote PC or TV.

Voice over IP (VoIP)VoIP can be easily integrated over the Skystar 360E usingexternal IP-telephone devices. With VoIP support, the Skystar360E can provide an integrated telephony and data solutionover the same platform.
