Skills Support for the Workforce
SSW Project Summary Outline
• Approved May 2013 • £13.283M• May 2013 – July 2015• Progression for employees in Cornwall with
low skills through work-related skills training.• Responsive provision to the skills needs of
businesses
Generic Eligibility
• Employees who’s employment is based in Cornwall
• Working a minimum of 8 hours per week• 19+• Usual State Aid Rules apply• Self employed• Volunteers
Types of Course
• QCF Accredited, Level 1 - 5
• Units can be individually funded and accredited
• Add value to core Govt skills support
• Access to employers - supply chain/other businesses in the immediate geographic location/sector groupings
• Access to wider support for apprentices where there is an identified need

Building capacity• Fund Value of £4.4m• To stimulate/support economic growth• New/innovative delivery/new markets/sectors• Under-represented target groups eg LLDD
Local Response Fund• £1.992M• Develop a Local Skills Plan via LEP framework
