Motivation My philosophy has always been that you get more out of life based on what you put into it. When I discovered Skeleton, I knew that this was my chance to fufill my dream of competing as an Olympian and challenging myself to the highest level. I have always tried to keep my eyes open to new opportunities, especially those that I can learn from. I believe asking lots of questions is the road to wisdom. What truly matters is what I will learn from all of my experiences, challenging myself and the journey towards the finish line. There is nothing like giving your very best just to find out what you are capable of. The training requires self-discipline, financial support and time management to accomplish my goals. I have learned that there are many different responsibilities of being an athlete. It is important to maintain balance in life, treat everyone with respect and help those in need.

2011 Third fastest women’s time, BC Championships (Whistler, BC)

Public Experience & Leadership

How You Can HelpThe costs related to Skeleton and training are difficult to cover without the wonderful support of companies whose products and services I consistently use. Any donations or products would be tax deductible. I recommend my favourite companies to family, friends and fellow athletes. Your support would be greatly appreciated and will allow me to focus on achieving my goals while helping your company grow.

Summer My workouts consist of dryland training which includes sprinting sessions, weightlifting, and plyometrics. I relocate to Calgary during the summers, stay with my family and practice at the Calgary Olympic Park (COP). At the COP, I use the indoor Ice House facility, practice pushing and loading on the sled. I train with Inter Provincial, National and Olympic athletes. Every summer, I also train with Coach Tom Shaw and NFL athletes at the ESPN Wide World of Sports in Orlando, FL.

Winter Training involes lifting in the gym, one or two sprint sessions a week and sliding on the Whistler Ice track Wednesday through Saturday each week. This is where I practice “driving” the sled down the track.
