The Olympic sliding Centre

The landmark mountain and village of Igls are only a 15 minute drive to the south east of Innsbruck. As well as being the closest ski area to the town and home to a renowned downhill course, Igls is also home to the Olympic sliding centre.

The 1270m track was built in 1975 for the Winter Olympics the following year and was the first artificially refrigerated bobsleigh, luge and skeleton run, serving as a model for other tracks around the world; it is now a popular training centre for professional teams of all sliding disciplines.

Amy has trained and competed on the track for ten years so knows it very well as the safest and probably the easiest track on the skeleton circuit - she was the coach for the celebrities that took on the Igls track on the 2014 Channel 4 show The Jump.

DAY 1 - THE INTRODUCTION

• Easyjet flight or BA flight from London Gatwick to Innsbruck

• 15 minute transfer from Innsbruck airport to the Grand Hotel Europa included

• Time to freshen up (and visit Innsbruck if you are flying out on the early Easyjet flight)

• 19:00 Meet Amy Williams and the team, transfer to Igls Olympic track and walk the course with Amy, followed by an apéritif and briefing at the track

• 21:30 Welcome dinner at Grand

DAY 2 - A FULL TRACK DAY!

• Short transfer to the Olympic track at Igls

• Practice runs with your own sled from the Kreisel start and start counting the corners!

• Experience the track as a passenger in a 4 man race bobsleigh

• Take on the track on your own skeleton from the Damenstart - the ultimate winter sports thrill

• Further skeleton runs to try and improve with Amy’s expert tuition (subject to time and your stomach!)

• A light lunch will be provided at the track to fit with the programme

• Return to the hotel

• Carry your adrenalin through to the dinner and award ceremony at Ottoburg, Innsbruck’s most historic and traditional restaurant

DAY 3

• Leisurely breakfast, check out, last minute Christmas shopping at Innsbruck

• Transfer to Innsbruck airport for return flights to London

Price £1,840 per person

Includes: 2 nights bed and breakfast accommodation sharing a twin or double room at the 5* Grand Hotel Europa, 2 dinners including 1/4 ltr wine, the full track day with Amy, passenger race bobsleigh ride, walk the course and coaching and up to 2 individual skeleton runs subject to timings. A light lunch (drinks not included) is also served at the track.

Single room supplement £150.

Flights from Innsbruck and/or Munich as well as transfers to and from Muncih airport can be quoted and organised separately.
