Our summer planting is scheduled for May 31st, starting at 10am. Anybody interested in helping is invited to join us in the garden then. St. John Vianney School News
Congratulations to the Beltran Family, winners of the final Calendar Raffle for the 2013-2014 school year!
On Monday evening, May 19, Mr. Partesi’s instrumental music students will perform an end-of-the-year concert for their families in the Parish Center at 7 PM. All are welcome!
The School May Crowning of the Blessed Mother will take place on Wednesday, May 21, at a Prayer Service in church at 9:30 AM. Weather permitting, immediately following the ceremony in church, we will process outside and crown the statue of Mary in front of the school.
On Friday, May 23, students will attend the 8:45 AM Mass. We will be celebrating our second grade students who received their First Communion and our eighth grade students who received their Confirmation. Second grade students will come to school in their First Communion outfits, and eighth grade students will wear dress up clothing.
There will be a 12:15 PM dismissal on Friday, May 23. Aftercare will not be available. School will be closed on Monday, May 26, in observance of Memorial Day. All families must return their Summer Splash raffle book by May 31. If your raffle book is not returned by May 31, an additional $50 (the cost of the raffle book) will be added to your 2014-2015 tuition. Your Scrip obligation must be met by May 31. All families are required to purchase $3,800 in Scrip. Please remember that if you do not fulfill your Scrip obligation your child will not be assigned to a class for next year. When you registered your child, you agreed to purchase one raffle book, to work two shifts at the carnival, and to purchase Scrip. If your child is graduating or transferring from St. John’s, their records will not be sent to their new school until you have fulfilled all of these obligations. PRE-SCHOOL NEWS
We will follow our early dismissal schedule on Friday, May 23. Morning students will be dismissed at 10 AM, and full day students will be dismissed at 12 noon. Aftercare will not be provided. School will be closed on Monday, May 26, for Memorial Day. We still have some spaces available for our Pre-School classes for the 2014-2015 school year. THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU!! I would like to thank all those who helped make our 9:00 AM Mass and May Crowning (which followed) so meaningful and beautiful last weekend. I would like to start by thanking our Children’s Choir for leading us in song during the liturgy as well as leading the hymns during the crowning of the blessed mother. A special thank you to all the soloists as well. Thanks also to Father John for leading our crowning ceremony. Thanks to ALL the 1st communicants for coming to mass on Sunday and singing their special song for all of us at the end of mass. A big thank you to Ellen DeRosa for making the beautiful crown of flowers. Thanks goes out to “Poncho” our director of maintenance for setting up the cafeteria and generally “Getting things ready. Thanks also to John and Erin O’Halloran for helping with the procession. I thank Sister Elis, Sister Josene, and Sister Rose for all their help collecting all the flowers from the children during the ceremony. Thanks to our parish Boy Scout Troop for providing the reception that followed. Thanks to “Donaldson’s Greenhouse” in Hackettstown, N.J. for providing all the beautiful flowers that were used to decorate around the Blessed Mother’s Statue. Most of all thanks to ALL of our parishioners, family members and friends who joined us for a beautiful morning here at our parish of St. John Vianney!!!

Music Ministry News Adult Choir
Thanks to our choir for enhancing the 10:45 Am liturgy last Sunday! Our adult choir is now practicing for the feast of Pentecost! We will have our next rehearsal on Wednesday May 21th at 7:30 pm in the church. Our group is open to all adults as well as high school students!! We meet each Wednesday evening from 7:30 to 9:00 Pm in the church. The Adult Choir sings each Sunday (at the 9:00am or 10:45 am mass) as well as for Lenten services Holy Week and Easter. New members are always welcome and encouraged to attend!
Children’s Choir Many thanks to all those students who came out to sing for the 9:00 am mass last Sunday. Following the mass, we had our procession and May Crowning Ceremony. I thank our choir members for leading us in all the “Mary Songs” during the ceremony. It is so nice to see that we have so many first communicants in our children’s choir. We will now begin practicing for the 8 th grade graduation mass! Our next rehearsal will on Tuesday May 27th from 4:00 to 5:00 Pm in the church. All children in the parish from grades 2 thru 8 are welcome to join our group. Hope to see you all at practice!!

YOUTH MINISTRY Yes there is a youth group meeting tonight, Sunday, May 18th from 7:00pm to 8:30pm in Trailer D. Come sign up for Fair shifts in the soda tent, we need your help! No meeting next weekend due to Memorial Day, but I am seeking volunteers to read at our
last youth mass of the year, June 8th at St. Cecelia's. That mass will be followed by a meeting, and all current youth group members
and new comers are welcome!! The youth group is gearing up for Appalachia!! We will be delivering a short Altar appeal on the
weekend of May 31st and June 1st. Be a part of this powerful Mission trip experience with a donation made out to St. John Vianney
Youth Ministry and mailed to John Cook at St. John Vianney Church, 420 Inman Avenue, Colonia, NJ. 07067. All donations are
welcome as we attempt to achieve our goal of $20,000.00. A very sincere thank you to all who have donated in the past and those
who continue to donate, there would be no trip without your very generous donations.

Diocese? Information on the Young Adult Service trip to Guatemala, (August 2nd to August 9th) has been released! Registration
deadline is May 23rd. Also, "Who do you say that I am?" The Jesus Retreat will take place on Saturday, June 28th, 2014 from 9:00am
to 4:30pm at St. Mary's House of Prayer on Rt. 22 in Watchung. Cost is only $10.00 and includes lunch. Contact John Cook

ST. ISIDORE'S GARDEN The church garden next to the convent is our Spring thru Fall effort to "Feed the Hungry" by donating all our produce to local food pantries.
