Principals’ Message On Sunday at the 9am Mass, a real feeling of community occurred as we participated in the celebration of the Eucharist. The 7th graders proclaimed the Word, the school children welcomed the assembly and sang in the choir, and students gave a reflection for Catholic Schools Week with the theme of Faith, Academics and Service.
Fr. Tony spoke to the importance of Catholic Schools in the history of the United States and in the Church, and certainly today more than ever when our youth are confronted with so many counter values to the Gospel message. Parents are supported as family by the values proclaimed in Catholic Schools.
Both of us were struck by those present on Sunday for Mass. The very young toddlers as well as kindergarten children, the enthusiastic altar servers, the proud grandparents with their grandchildren, whole families worshipping as a family, past school parents and high school students all gathered together to praise God and reflect on ways to mirror Jesus’ message in the coming week.
Yes, and many of these adults were together less than ten hours before at the 19th Annual Crab Feed. Yet, they got up and came to Mass. Thank you for your priorities and presence.
Happy Catholic Schools Week!
In gratitude, Sr. Michele Anne and Martha Wood
7th ANNUAL FUND - Is your name here yet?We are indeed grateful to you as we come to the end of our 7th Annual Fund Drive for 2011-12. Thank you for understanding the need and purpose of an annual fund, which allows us to fulfill a current need for SJV School without impacting the tuition or operating budget.
Thanks to the generosity and vision of the following persons we have reached 75% of our goal for the 7th Annual Fund. Of course, if you have not been able to make a contribution until now, we would gladly accept your gift.

SJV Community Center UPDATEMy Dear Brothers and Sisters,
In today’s gospel there are great many activities on the part of Jesus however I would like to focus on Jesus’ healing of Peter’s mother-in-law. If you notice as soon as Peter’s mother-in-law is healed she gets up and waits on the Lord and his needs. This passage of scriptures clearly indicates that once we have been touched by Christ and His healing word we are called to be of service. Service is at the heart of who we are as Catholic Christians. In a world where so many are looking to be served we are called to be different and to provide for others rather than solely seek our own good. As we celebrate Catholic Schools Week we notice that one of the three themes for this year is service. We have heard time and again from the prophets, from Jesus and from the lineage of holy men and women that a true faith expresses itself in service. The very foundation of our own parish school continues the grand tradition of the Sisters of the Presentation, who have always striven to live their motto of….Not words but deeds. Let us support one another in all the efforts to provide for our neighborhood a glimpse of the Kingdom of God.
Sincerely in Christ Jesus,
Fr. Tony
