ABSTRACT
An efficient vehicle tracking system is designed and implemented for tracking the movement of any equipped vehicle from any location at any time.
This will be easy to make and inexpensive compared to others. The designed in-vehicle device works using Global Positioning System (GPS) and Global system for mobile communication / General Packet Radio Service (GSM/GPRS) technology that is one of the most common ways for vehicle tracking.
3
The proposed system made good use of a popular technology that combines a Smart phone application with a micro controller.

INTRODUCTION
Vehicle Tracking System combines the use of automatic vehicle location in individual Vehicles with software that collects these fleet data for a compressive picture of vehicle location.
Modern vehicle tracking system commonly use GPS (Global Position System) technology for locating the vehicle.
Vehicle information can be viewed as electronic map. 5
This device fits into the vehicle and captures the GPS location information apart from other vehicle information at regular intervals to a central server.
The vehicle information includes engine control , geographical location etc.
6
PROBLEM STATEMENT
To develop vehicular tracking system to monitor and Stolen vehicle recovery.
The accessibility to the system from remote place system
To provide commuters with exact location of the vehicle through notification conveniently through a website or an android application.
7
EXISTING SYSTEM On the architecture of vehicle tracking system
using wireless sensor devices
The focus of the proposed vehicle tracking system is to track the desired vehicle with low-cost, effective implementation as in contrast to the existing high-cost tracking systems
It is defined that packet structure for communication between the nodes. ( receiving & transmitting ends)

PROPOSED SYSTEM
Acquisition of a vehicle's geographic coordinates and a vehicle’s unique ID from an in-vehicle device in real time using the GPS module.
Whenever a user requests the vehicle location, it
can be accessed and monitored on Google maps in real-time using a Smart phone application.

CONCLUSION
In-vehicle device, a Smart phone application is used for the vehicle tracking system.
In this work, the in-vehicle device is composed of a micro controller and GPS/GSM/GPRS module to acquire the vehicle's location information and transmit it through GSM/GPRS network.
Furthermore, our implementation is low-cost that is based on easily accessible off-the-shelf electronic modules. 13
A vehicle's geographic coordinates and a vehicle’s unique ID obtained from an in-vehicle device are recorded in a database table. And a Smart phone application has been created to display a vehicle location on Google maps.
The system was able to experimentally demonstrate its effective performance to track a vehicle’s location anytime from anywhere.
