GET CONNECTED

We live in a remarkable world, where we can communicate with people half-way around the globe in a matter of seconds.

Connections are instant, and everywhere, thanks to the miraculous de-vices ofmodern life. But nothing can replace the connections we’re able toexplore in our own neighborhoods.

If your familiaritywith your neighborhood ends at the nearest shopping center, don’tworry: This edition of the annual South JerseyGuide spotlights communities to help youform connections.

We’re not going to introduce you to your neighbors: That part is up to you.But we will aim to broaden your circle in meaningful ways. We’ll point you toward

community-basedgymsandworkshops thatwill keepyouhealthy.Want to take fitness toanother level? Join an adult sports league—we’ve roundedup a list of someof the area’smost active clubs that offer competition and camaraderie.

We’ll also provide details on groups where moms can socialize while kids play. We’llhelp small-business owners find dozens of local options for networking. We’ll providecontacts if you or someone close to you is struggling with life’s basic needs: food, fi-nancial security, finding a job and more. And we’ll point parents of special-needs chil-dren to groups that offer much-needed support.

Anyonewho lives in South Jersey knows there’s plenty of fun stuff to do here. Butwediga littledeepersoyoucanmakethemostoutofareaattractions.Checkoutour“hiddentreasures”— lesser-known South Jersey spots that are worth a visit. We also make sug-gestions for themed family outings, beyond-the-boardwalk fun at the beach, parks foryour favorite outdoor activities, and historic sites that will deepen your appreciation ofSouth Jersey. Our community spotlightsmight tell you a thing or two aboutmany of thearea’s towns, including your own.

You don’t have to absorb this info all at once. Use this guide as you would any in-formation tool — search for resources as you need them.We do recommend you keep itaround as a reference: Our Can’t-Miss Calendar includes a year’s worth of South Jerseyhighlights. And you won’t want to miss our look at the area’s upcoming street festivals, food events, performances and art shows — all available without a bridge toll.
