Seminars were organized on Promotion of SMEs and promotional Schemes of Govt. ofIndia on 22nd January’11 under the chairmanship of Sj P. K. Gupta, Dy-Director, MSMEDevelopment Inst itute, Cuttack. Sri B. B. Panigrahi, Sri Sukanst Sahoo and Sri Subash Dasall Asst . Managers from MSME Development Inst itute, Govt. of India, Cuttackpresented the details of promotional different schemes of Govt. of India for promotion ofSMEs and scope and prospect of sett ing up SMEs in the district of Balasore.

Balasore Chamber of Industries and Commerce organized a workshop on Buyers andSellers Meet (Vendor Development Meet) on 23rd January’11 under development ofPlast ic Cluster to facilitate the sustainable growth of SMEs. Sri Himansu Das, President,Balasore Chamber of The PSUs, Industries and Commerce presided over the programme.Representat ives from PSUs, Mother Plants and SMEs inter acted each other in order tomeet the requirement of PSUs and mother plants by the SMEs.

Skill UPGRADATION TRAINING:

Six weeks Skill Up gradation Training Programme was organized at SITD, ADM Squaresponsored by MSME Development Inst itute, Govt. of India, Cuttack on FASHIONDESIGN which was concluded on 4th February, 2011. 25 nos of ladies were undergonetraining. Another Skill Development Training Programme is continuing since 4thFebruary’2011 at SITD on BEAUTICIAN. This t raining is sponsored by MSME DevelopmentInst itute, Govt. of India, Cuttack and 25 ladies are undergoing training.

INTERACTION PROGRAMME ON E-SERVICE BY COMMERCIAL TAX DEPARTMENT

An interaction meet on the above topic was organized by Balasore Chamber ofIndustries & Commerce on 03-03-2011 under the chairmanship of Sri Himansu Das,President, Balasore Chamber of Industries & Commerce. Sri Surendra Behera, Jt .Commissioner and Sri Subrat Senapati, Dy.Commissioner, Commercial Tax were tharesource persons who have explained in detail about submission and preparation of the

Tax return with the Commercial Tax authority. Sri Jagadish Khandelwal, Tax Consultanthas also presented some salient points to be taken care of during the submission of Taxreturn. The resource persons clarified the different problems faced at ground level by theTax consultants, industries, services, t rade and commerce establishments part icipatedthe programme during interaction. CELEBRATION OF 7TH ENTERPRENURES WEEK :

The 7th Entrepreneurs Week was joint ly celebrated on occasion of Jayanti of late BijuPattanaik by District Industries Center and Balasore Chamber of Industries andCommerce, North Odisha Chamber of Commerce and Industries and District SmallScale Industries Associat ion on 5th March’11 under the Chairmanship of Sj. SanatanNaik, General Manager of DIC, Balasore. The Programme was inaugurated by Sj.Himansu Das, Managing Director, Hari Udyog Pvt. Ltd. The celebrat ion followed by aRoad Show on Fly Ash and Plast ic based Industries. Sri P. K. Mitra, Vice President of BirlaTyre and Sri L. Chandak, Asst. General Manager, Emami Paper Mills, Balasore gavepresentat ion on the use of fly ash and promotion of Fly ash based industries.Sj. S.K. Choudhury, Manager, CIPET, CPPTC, Balasore gave presentat ion on the scopeand prospect of Plast ic based units. The Regional Manager, OSFC, Balasore requestedthe entrepreneurs to come up to set up industries and he will assist for finance. Thepresentat ion followed by interaction and the resource persons clarified all the doubts ofthe part icipants from the different industrial units. GOOD NEWS FOR BALASORE:

A long pending dream of Balasore for a Cretch Center for the children’s of Industrialworkers has taken a shape. This Center being set up by Lions Club, Balasore UMANGover a plot of land allotted by IDCO at Industrial Estate, Balasore. This Center wasinaugurated on 6th March’11 by Sj. Jeevan Pradip Dash, Hon’ble MLA, Balasore and Sj Gopi Nath Mohanty, District Governor , Lion District-322C2 in presence of Dr. AnjaliChhotray, Sj Nikunja Chhotray, Sj Pravat Mohanty, and Sj Prabhat Palit , all Past DistrictGovernors. 20 boys and girls (Children of Industrial workers) were enrolled at this centerwho will be looked after the members of the Lions Club, Balasore UMANG. Now theIndustrial workers can leave their children safely at this center.

Hon’ble High Court Order on Govt. Store Purchase & Price Preference:

The Hon’ble High court of Delhi in its order dated 12.08.2010in a WP© No.7704 of 2009filed by Delkon Text iles Ltd against Minist ry of Railways & Others with regard tonon-compliance to the said Circular No.21(1)/2000=EP &M dated 20.08.2000 of Ministryof SSI & ARI, Govt. of India directed that: “If the Circular dated 28th August, 2000 is read as being purely discret ionary, theobject sought to be achieved by such circular would be defeated. Accordingly it is heldthat unless that there are good reasons for not extending to duly qualified SSU thebenefit under the circular dated 28th Audgust, 2000, which reason must be recorded inwrit ing, such qualified SSU should be extended all the benefits, including price referenceof 15 % over the price quoted by the qualified Large scale unit in terms of circular dated28th August’2000. The railways shall implement the said circular dated 28thAugust’2000 while evaluating the bids submitted by the SSUs in the tender floated byit .”

CELEBRATION OF WORLD WOMAN DAY

On occasion of celebrat ion of World Women Day at R. J. School of Management,Studies, a member unit of the Chamber, on 3rd March’11 a Seminar was organizedunder the Chairmanship of Prof. Santanu Ku. Pani, Director, RJSMS on “ROLE OF WOMENBUILDING THE NATION” Sj. S. M. Narvane, IPS, and I.G. of police (ER) grace the occasionas Chief Guest and inaugurated the programme. Sj. Manorama Bhuyan, OAS, Dy-Collector attended as Chief Speaker, Mrs Versha Chaudhury, Mrs. Kasturi Choudhury,Technical Officer, PXE, Chandipur, Mrs. Sujata Das, Chairperson, Balasore Municipality,Mrs. Mamata Mohapatra, and Social Worker were the Guest of Honor. Swain, CEO, BCIC and SriAsok Mandal, East Zone Co-ordinator, NIDAhamadabad were the Guest of Honor. Sri S.K. Kar, Senior Manager & HOD,CTTC whilewell coming all the Guests and part icipants explain the role of CTTC. Sri Asok Mandalpresented the overview of the Design Clinic. Sri Maity, explain in detail the differentpromotional Policies and schemes of DC,MSME,Govt. of India for benefit of SMEs and fortheir sustainable growth. Sri Himansu Das while appreciat ing the activity of CTTC andfor organizing this programme at Balasore, requested to all SMEs to take advantage ofthes schemes as the experts are coming to our door steps. Payment of ESI Contribut ion through System generated challans

ESI Corporat ion has launched the IT Enablement “Project PANCHDEEP” for benefit ofthe Employees covered under the ESI Act. As a part of IT Project, the employerscovered under the Act are now required to deposit their contribut ion etc through asystem generated challan only. For this Purpose the employers are required login ESICweb portal www.esic.in to update their employee details and then generate challansby using their Log-in ID and Password already provided to them. Guidance forgenerat ing challan etc are available on the dash board link “help for monthlycontribut ion and chalan”The industries ,Trade and Commercial establishments shall make use of this facility..CLOSING CEREMONY OF ENTREPREUR’S WEEK AND SEMINAR

Closing ceremony of 7th Entrepreneur’s Week-2011 was organized by DIC, Balasore under thechairmanship of Sj. Sanatan Nayak, General Manager followed by a Seminar organized by MSME DevelopmentInstitute in association with Balasore Chamber of Industries and Commerce on “Industrial Development in theDistrict of Balasore”. The programme was inaugurated by Sj. Bharat Charan Swain, Director, Institute forIndustrial Research and Development and expressed his concerned that the Line promotional agencies have tolook after their self employment projects. He said that infrastructure for setting of SMEs is available in the districtof Balasore but there is dearth of entrepreurs. This programme shall encourage the youths to come up to take upthe challenge. Sj. Himansu Das, President, Balasore Chamber of Industries and Commerce grace the occasion asChief Guest and encouraged the youths participated to avail the opportunities to be an entrepreneur and not toseek for employment.
