Message from the Head of Sixth Form
We have launched the UCAS application cycle with our Year 12 students this week, as part of our ‘Future Planning’ programme. Many students have already registered and all are taking steps to inform themselves about the options available to them beyond the Sixth Form. We are hoping that they will have completed their application form and drafted their personal statements before the end of the term. Subject staff will be writing references this term that will feed into the reference that we will ultimately provide them with, in support of their applications. Students can apply for a variety of things through UCAS including apprenticeships and we encourage all of our Sixth Form students to go through this process, regardless of whether they aspire to attend University or not. It allows them to consolidate all of their academic achievements in one place, rehearse the skills required to make job applications, and learn how to sell themselves in response to a course/job specification. It is exciting to be beginning this journey again with our Year 12 students. Mrs. Conway-Hughes

Reflection
The Greek philosopher
Xenocrates wrote: ‘I have
often regretted my speech,
never my silence’.
This is worth pondering -
how often have we spoken
and then realised we ought
to have kept our moth shut?
As the writer of Ecclesiastes
says:
‘There is a time for
everything,
and a season for every
activity under the
heavens…. a time to be
silent and a time to speak’
(Ecclesiastes 3:7).
