What is a Newborn Care Specialist?
• Expertise in all aspects of caring for newborns
• Provides support and guidance to parents
• Knowledgeable in interpreting babies’ needs and
common ailments
• Help transition parents and siblings to caring for
their newborn

What do parents expect from a
Newborn Care Specialist • To be at ease with extensive experience with newborns
• Calm in the center of storm mentality
• Set routines and give guidance to families with feeding,
sleeping and crying.
• Strong communication skills (best to be able to determine
the parents’ biggest concerns and act accordingly
• Confidence with newborns

As a Newborn Care Specialist…
• Typically work 1-3 months(sometimes up to a
year)
• 8 hours a night
• In Boston specifically, will make $25 to $45/hour
based on number of babies
• In high demand in the Boston area

What are the requirements to be in the
class?• Must have been a professional nanny for at least
3 years
• 1 year experience having cared for infants
• We want you to be excellent!

• Preparing the family for home arrival which is an
additional service that you will be taught to offer
• Feeding and bathing
• Sleep scheduling
• Addressing issues of concern with infants
• Preparing and educating parents
