8. Technical Update
At the middle of this year, we have several new product, those are Cisco MCU, Canopus
converter, video switcher, video mixer, cisco switch to be installed in the new facility in jatinangor
(New ITB branch). We are also preparing to use distant learning for the new studio in Jatinangor.
9. Network Update ITB’s now dealing with google for BGP peering between INHERENT and Google network.
Among any advantages that Google offers, is INHERENT to have access to Google global cache, and
those conditions can speed up our access to any content that’s provided by Google.
10. National Research and Education Network (NREN) update By now INHERENT network is down, and we connect to others through either Internet or
Local IXP. We still wait for the connection to be reactivated.
11. Your organization’s role in NREN For last serveral years, ITB has been maintaining the INHERENT connection, and connect
many nodes in Indonesia. Eventhough INHERENT has been inactive for a few of months because of
political issues, we still maintain the border router and tried to stay connected to the other node
via either internet or local network (IIX).
12. Lecture attending situation
The participants who joined the lecture depend on the topic offered. And we invite not
only the students of ITB but also the students from outside campus to join in as long as the topic
related to their field. While initiating video conference, at the same time, we also stream it on our
official website, so the content could be delivered to many people that willing to know. Not only
class we usually stream to the Internet, but many workshop and training as well.

13. Ideas: how to make student more active to join the class?
Student participation will go up in numbers if the classroom is sufficient in space and comfortable
and also, the information about the topics have to be reported in official campus website and
make a thread within campus website forum that contains information about the class topics. The
more up to date or hype the topic is, then more student will participate in the class.
14. Research and Development in Network, including applications
15. We’re still preparing new campus for it’s connectivity as well as video conference infrastructure.
