The Greatest Teachers Are Those Who Never Stop
Learning
2020 was an unprecedented year for all of us. We had to quickly adjust to our
“new” normal of staying home, missing loved ones, and learning innovative
and unique strategies to keep our scholars motivated.
Daily, we used the new lingo—”You are muted, turn on your camera, and you
are frozen!” We struggled to keep the students on task for 90 minutes. I al-
ways say that if I was not a teacher, I would be an actress, because you must
be a method actor to keep these students entertained all day!
But throughout this pandemic, SISD stayed strong and dedicated to providing
a solid education for all our scholars. The SISD Substitute Department quickly
rose to the challenge and provided online training opportunities for our substi-
tutes.
As we say goodbye to 2020, remember how lucky we are to call SISD our
second home. Make a new year’s resolution to learn fresh and novel ways to
teach our students virtually. Don’t ever stop learning!
Mrs. Leyva and I wish you a wonderful holiday season and an AWESOME
new year. “Tough Times Never Last, Tough SISD Employees Do!”
