Optimum Antenna Mounting Locations

The optimum location to mount the antennais on the roof of the vehicle. It is important toavoid any obstruction that will block thesatellite signal, such as a roof rack. Forconvertible vehicles, install the antenna onthe trunk lid as shown.

• Place the antenna on a metal surfaceof your vehicle at least 12" x 12", and atleast 6" from a window. (Use theantenna cover/tail as a guide for theproper distance from the rear window.)

• The antenna’s magnet will secure it tothe metal surface. The adhesive that isattached to the antenna cover/tail willsecure the cable to the vehicle. Beforerouting the antenna cable, confirm thatthe antenna is mounted in a suitablelocation.

• Route the cable from the antenna to thevehicle’s interior by tucking itunderneath the rubber molding aroundthe rear window, if possible.

• Route the cable from the lowest pointof the rear window into the trunk. Takeadvantage of any existing cablechannels or wiring conduits.

• For SUVs, minivans and five-doorvehicles, bring the cable into thevehicle under the rubber molding of thetailgate, and continue under the interiortrim.

• From the trunk, carefully route thecable to the location of theSIR-ALP10T and plug the SMBconnector into the tuner.

Caution:• Do not pull the wire across sharp

edges that could damage it.• Keep the wire away from areas where it

could become tangled in the driver’sand passenger’s feet.

• Keep the antenna wire away fromextreme heat, such as exhaust systems.

• Avoid placing the cable near anymoving parts.
