original 1500’s Christkindlesmarkt in Nuremberg,

Germany, brings a cherished German and European

tradition with international flair and local charm to

Chicago. The vendors and vendor wares at the

Christkindlmarket Chicago reflect the high quality

and craftsmanship one finds at German Christmas

markets. The Christkindlmarket Chicago is the most

authentic and renowned outdoor winter holiday

market in the United States, and is a magical

celebration of culture, community, and holiday cheer.

SPECIAL THANKS In 1996, the German American Chamber of

Commerce of the Midwest (GACC Midwest) was

seeking additional ways to promote bilateral trade

between the United States and Germany. The

subsidiary German American Services Inc. (now

German American Events, LLC) was founded, bringing

the concept of an authentic German Christmas

market to life. German, European and local

companies were invited to participate in the first ever

Christkindlmarket Chicago, and the event became an

instant success.

- The Christkindlmarket Chicago offers its visitors a special collectible souvenir mug for hot spiced wine each year

- Children can order hot chocolate or kinder punch in their own limited edition souvenir mug in the shape of a snowman

- Chicago’s own Christkind visits the Christkindlmarket regularly to share her tradition with all visitors and guests who attend

- Visitors have the opportunity to reserve VIP Stammtisch tables for up to 8 adults, where they receive exclusive special treatment, much like at German festivals

- Companies and groups are welcome to reserve the Festival Tent for holiday receptions and unique special events

- Local and international dance, music, and theatre groups perform during the market on the market’s Main Stage
