The SH40 transducer
The SH40 hull unit is small in size which makes it possible to mount on smaller vessels. The hull unit is hydraulically powered, which means that it does not require a three-phase power supply.

The Simrad SH40 sonar is designed for detection of small schools of species that are to detect on low frequency sonars. The typical fishing vessel operating with a Simrad SH40 sonar would be fishing with purse seine, trawl or Danish seine.
The fast reacting stabilizing sensor compensate both the horizontal and the vertical beams for the rapid movement of a smaller vessel giving a stable picture even during heavy swells. The high resolution horizontal and vertical picture gives sharp edges enabling you to estimate the school size with ease.
Multifrequency - 110 to 122kHz!On fishing vessels there are numerous sources making noise, such
as propellers, generators, engines and other hydro acoustic equipment. With multi frequency from Simrad you are able to tune your sonar for maximum performance and avoid interference from own and other vessels. The multi frequency comes very handy in other situations as well; high and low frequencies have different detection ranges on different conditions and species.

omni directional sonars. This means that you have an instant full circle coverage and not have to wait for the single beam to rotate 360 degree.

Dual beam The combination of the horizontal andvertical beams display the school of fish from above and from the side at the same time. It is not necessary to go over the target to see the vertical dis-tribution on the echosounder.
Beam stabilizationWhen the beam stabilizer is activated,both the horizontal and vertical beams will be electronically stabilized for roll and pitch. The full circle beam stays on the target independent of the vessel movement even in rough seas.
