A physician on the scroll (The Why)

1. Provide Certainty - Luke 1:1–4 - Inasmuch as many have undertaken to compile a narrative of the things that have been accomplished among us, 2 just as those who from the beginning were eyewitnesses and ministers of the word have delivered them to us, 3 it seemed good to me also, having followed all things closely for some time past, to write an orderly account for you, most excellent Theophilus, 4 that you may have certainty concerning the things you have been taught.

2. Proclaim Good News - Luke 4:17–19 - And the scroll of the prophet Isaiah was given to him. He unrolled the scroll and found the place where it was written, 18 “The Spirit of the Lord is upon me, because he has anointed me to proclaim good news to the poor. He has sent me to proclaim liberty to the captives and recovering of sight to the blind, to set at liberty those who are oppressed, 19 to proclaim the year of the Lord’s favor.”

3. Pursue the Lost - Luke 19:10 - “For the Son of Man came to seek and to save the lost.”

Simple Gifts from Simply Christmas

1. The message of the angel is our message. It is the gospel, the Good News for all people.

2. The Person of the story is our Savior, the Lord Jesus Christ.

3. Steps - The lessons and example found in our Lord’s incarnation are to be applied.

Philippians 2:5–8 - Have this mind among yourselves, which is yours in Christ Jesus, 6 who, though he was in the form of God, did not count equality with God a thing to be grasped, 7 but emptied himself, by taking the form of a servant, being born in the likeness of men. 8 And being found in human form, he humbled himself by becoming obedient to the point of death, even death on a cross.

4. Satisfaction - In Jesus Christ, God in the flesh, we are complete.

Colossians 2:9–10 - For in him the whole fullness of deity dwells bodily, 10 and you have been filled in him, who is the head of all rule and authority.
