The Anna Margaret Lewis Leadership Award is granted annually to two students who have demonstrated leadership potential through their positive impact on the quality of life for others. The funds are applied to the cost of the leadership journey, a requirement for the SRVE (104) Service Learning and Leadership course offered each spring.
Anna Margaret Lewis (1920 -1986) born in Boonville, Missouri, was a beloved matriarch and a source of inspiration for three generations of family members. A devoted wife, mother and grandmother, Anna Margaret never earned a college degree herself, but her emphasis on integrity, the value of an education, and, in particular, the constructive effect that kindness and caring can have on others, remains a guiding influence for her children and grandchildren today. The fund has been established by her grandson, SFCC business major, Jermaine Lewis.
Candidates for this $500 award should compose a one to three paragraph essay describing the specific project in which they were or continue to be involved. A letter of recommendation from a teacher, employer, or organization leader confirming their involvement should accompany this short essay.
