This documentation provides you with an overview of the PC components used in PCS 7. It provides you with information on the following topics:

The documentation is intended for persons involved in configuration, commissioning, and service.

Basic Knowledge required To understand this documentation, you should be familiar with automation engineering and process control engineering.

You should also have experience of using PCs and similar (for example programming devices) and the Windows 2000 operating system.

Before installing PCS 7 components, make sure that you read the readme.wri file on the latest version of PCS 7.

Validity

The documentation is valid for the software package "Process Control System PCS 7 Toolset V6.0 SP3" or higher.

Licenses and Authorizations

As of PCS 7 V6.0 SP3, the "Automation License Manager" is supplied for transferring authorizations. This program replaces the previously used AuthorsW program. All previous functions for transferring authorizations are possible with the "Automation License Manager".

The technical implementations of a license were previously the authorizations that will gradually be replaced by license keys. In the manual, the technical implementations of a license will still be called authorizations until the changeover is complete.

1.1 PC Components of a PCS 7 System

This section provides you with a general overview of the PC components that you can use with PCS 7 (Version 6.0 SP3), the areas of application of these components, and the hardware and software components used.

SIMATIC PCS 7 Process Control System

• The modern concept and architecture of SIMATIC PCS 7 allow cost-effective implementation of a plant during all its life cycles from planning, engineering, training, and commissioning followed by operation and maintenance and including future expansion and economic operation of the plant.

• By adhering consistently to international industrial standards for data exchange with the enterprise management level such as Ethernet, TCP/IP, OPC, @aGlance or SAP R3/PP-PI, the SIMATIC PCS 7 process control system can be fully integrated into the company-wide information networks.

1.3 PCS 7 Software

The PCS 7 software includes the following software packages:

• For engineering (see section "PCS 7 Engineering Station").

• For operator control and monitoring of the automation process including necessary evaluation options (see section "PCS 7 Operator Station").

• For operator control and monitoring of batch processes including the necessary evaluation options (refer to the section "SIMATIC BATCH").

These sections also mention optional packages (for example for redundancy, fail-safe systems) with which special solutions can be implemented.

Installation

How to install a PC is described in the section: "The PCS 7 PC - Hardware, Software, and Installation".

Authorizations

The section "Software Packages and Required Authorizations" lists the individual software packages with the required licenses and authorizations.

Operating system

For PCS 7 PCs , a suitable operating system is used depending on the application (standalone PC, server or client) (refer to the section "Software Packages and Required Authorizations").

1.4 PC Hardware

PCs

You will find recommendations on the PCs used in PCS 7 in the section "The PCS 7 PC - Hardware, Software, and Installation" and in the catalog Process Control System PCS 7; Catalog ST PCS7.

Networks

In PCS 7 version 6.0, only Industrial Ethernet is used for communication on the terminal bus and the plant bus.

For more detailed information on networks, refer to the section PC Components in the Network and the section "Installing the Operating System - Notes on Installing the Operating System".

Communication modules for PCs

In the PCS 7 - Released Modules documentation, you will find the latest information on the communication modules used in PCS 7.

Downloading the AS Configuration

For more information on downloading the AS configuration, refer to the section "PC Components in the Network - Downloading the AS Configuration".

PC Ports / COM Ports

In general a PC has a maximum of 2 COM ports.

If you want to connect several additional components (time receiver and chipcard reader) to a redundant server PC (for PCS 7 OS or SIMATIC BATCH), this is not possible because one COM port is already required for the redundancy monitoring. In this case, please use a time receiver that allows synchronization over Industrial Ethernet.

1.5 Number of Workstations

When deciding how many workstations you require, you should take into account the following factors:

• The number of automation systems

• The degree of automation

• The distribution of the workstations

• The requirements of the system (for example possibility of local control of a unit)

• The required degree of operator-friendliness

- Information displayed simultaneously

- System overview, message lists, logs

• The required availability (for example implementation of redundant systems)

Number of Servers

PCS 7 supports a maximum of 12 servers in a system. The maximum number of operator control and monitoring stations depends on the load on the server. The following each count as a server:

• one OS single station

• one OS server

• one pair of OS servers = redundant configuration

• one OS archive server

• one pair of OS archive servers = redundant configuration

• one BATCH server

• one pair of BATCH servers = redundant configuration

2.1 PCS 7 Engineering Station

Overview This section explains the structure of a PCS 7 engineering station (simply referred to as PCS 7 ES below). The chapter explains the required hardware and software components and the essential combinations for application.

Introduction SIMATIC PCS 7 provides a comprehensive engineering system for configuring process control systems that allows projects to be worked on throughout a system and plant. The engineering system can be used for the entire range of projects from small systems to large manufacturing complexes.

The same tools are used to work with and manipulate the project database from the initial configuration of a plant through to the running of the plant. This means that the project data are created and maintained with identical tools during the entire life of a plant.

Engineering Station The PCS 7 ES is a PC or PC network on which the software for the essential configuration work for a PCS 7 project is installed (an example is shown in the figure below).

2.2 PC Configurations of the PCS 7 ES

Examples of Configurations

In a PCS 7 system, the following PC configurations are typical:

• PCS 7 ES on a Single PC

• PCS 7 ES for a Small System

• PCS 7 ES - Working on a Project with Several PCs

2.3 PCS 7 ES on a Single PC

Simple structure with one PCS 7 ES on a single PC (an example is shown in the figure below).

2.4 PCS 7 ES for a Small System

In a small system (for example a training station), a combination of PCS 7 ES and operator station can be used (for an example, see below).

2.5 PCS 7 ES - Working on a Project using Several PCs

It is possible for more than one user to work on a project. If it is not acceptable to perform the engineering tasks with only one PCS 7 ES, you can distribute the engineering work over several PCs. How to do this is described in Configuration Manual Process Control System PCS 7; Engineering Station. The following variants are possible:

• Branching and Merging Projects

• Multiproject Engineering

• Multi-user Configuration

Branching and Merging Projects

The figure below illustrates the distribution of the project on separate engineering PCs. How to distribute (branch) and reassemble (merge) a project is described in the Configuration Manual Process Control System PCS 7; Engineering Station.

Advantages

• You can do the engineering work on PCs that are not part of the network (for example configuring at different locations).

• If you break up a master project, the connections between the charts are retained in the form of "textual interconnections".

• As long as you keep to the procedure as described in the Configuration Manual (Process Control System PCS 7; Engineering Station), you can configure as if you were working on independent projects.

Multiproject Engineering

The figure below illustrates the distribution of the multiproject (total project of a system) on separate engineering PCs.

Advantages

• Compared with working in the multiuser mode, a multiproject allows you to work more quickly because several users can work on parts of the multiproject (entire project of a system). How the users work: See table below.

• The entire project of a system can be divided into several smaller projects.

• Simple branching of the multiproject and merging of the projects (implementation of projects).

• Projects can consist of the configuration data for AS stations, OS stations or BATCH Engineering.

• Several projects can be stored on a PC. (See table below)

• The BATCH engineering can be done on a separate PC for a multiproject.

• The failure of the PC of a project affects only the data that are being edited on this PC. Functions that are required to run in the multiproject for all projects can be repeated when all the projects are available.

• By saving the multiproject, all projects are automatically backed up in one path.

• Within the context of a multiproject, PC 1 ("Client", operator) with PCS 7 can access a PCS 7 project stored on PC 2 ("Server") (for example for inter-project functions). How the user works depends on the way the projects are stored. A distinction is made between the following:

- central storage of the projects of a multiproject on a server and

- distributed storage of the projects of a multiproject.

Working Methods Dependent on the Type of Storage of the Projects of a Multiproject

Central storage of the projects of a multiproject on a server:

Operating system Since several projects can be open at the same time on a central server and inter-project functions can be started, only the use of the Windows 2000 Server operating system is permitted for the server (this is due to the restrictions that apply if other operating systems are used). The operating system on the other engineering PCs can be Windows 2000 Professional.

The operating system of the engineering PCs is Windows 2000 Professional. Due to the distributed storage of the projects (only one project per PC), the limitations of the Windows 2000 Professional operating system are not reached.

Storage of the data of the multiproject

The projects of the multiproject are located on one central server.

One project is located on one PC (every user has their "own project" on their PC).

Editing the data Every user can access the projects on the server from their engineering PC.

Each user only works on their own project. When inter-project functions are required, the PC on which the multiproject is stored must be used. It is advisable to select one user for inter-project functions.

Restrictions It is advisable to select one user for inter-project functions.

You avoid operating system restrictions and access conflicts if the users make sure that they open the projects separately; in other words not from within the multiproject.

If the PC with the multiproject is a server with the Windows 2000 Server operating system, both working methods can be used one after the other or alternately.

Example: During the initial phase of a multiproject, the projects can be distributed and are then edited locally. In the final phase of commissioning, the last jobs are performed only on the central server.

Caution!

Install the PCS 7 Toolset on the server PC.

• If neither the PCS 7 Toolset nor STEP 7 is installed on the server, the first client to log in to the project (for example Client 1) adopts the function of the (active) database server.

• If this client fails (for example due to a network failure or the client is turned off), no client that logged in after the failed client can access the project any longer.

• In the worst case, the failure of the database server on the client can lead to a loss of data since the data required for reorganization (for example following a power outage) are no longer available to the server. The data for reorganization is kept only locally on the client on which the database server is active.

The PCs of the individual users function as terminals in a network. All users store the project data on one PC.

Advantage

There is no additional effort required for data backup or data consistency

Note

Make sure that only one user ever works on one AS.

If you require several users to perform engineering work, multiproject engineering is recommended.

Configuring PCs for the Multiuser Configuration

If you want to perform your engineering work in a multi-user configuration, we recommend that you use a client-server configuration.

Clients

If a user wants to compile the program for a SIMATIC station, while other users work on the project, the following points should be noted:

• To avoid loss of performance, it is not advisable for more than 3 or 4 engineering clients to be connected to one engineering server.

• Make sure that the users coordinate the compilation programs of the SIMATIC stations and archiving of the projects with each other.

• Engineering of the hardware and network configuration of a station should be handled by only one user or be performed centrally from one PC.

2.6 Hardware of the PCS 7 ES

We recommend that you use the tested components (refer to Process Control System PCS 7; Catalog ST PCS 7).

2.7 Software of the PCS 7 ES

The individual components of the PCS 7 ES are matched with each other.

The PCS 7 Toolset CD V6.0 software package contains the necessary software on several CDs.

The following software packages are installed on a PCS 7 ES:

• AS Engineering

• OS Engineering

• BATCH Engineering (optional)

In PCS 7, the software packages form a unit. You can use the packages on separate systems.

You will find information on programs and on the operating system in the section "Software Packages and Required Authorizations".

AS Engineering

The part of the PCS 7 Toolset CD V6.0 software package known as ES Engineering includes the following tools:

• for creating the plant hierarchy

• for engineering the hardware configuration

• for configuring continuous and sequential process sequences

• for configuring SIMATIC connections

You can configure using various related tools (for example, HW Config, CFC etc.).

You can configure using various related tools (for example, Graphic Designer, Picture Tree Manager, etc.).

BATCH Engineering (BATCH Builder)

2.10 Authorizations for the PCS 7 ES

With the software packages for PCS 7, you receive only the authorizations (license keys) required for the specific program package. With the introduction of the Automation License Manager, license keys and authorizations are handled in the same way. The PCS 7 Toolset package contains the software for several software products.

Authorizations for PCS 7 Engineering with CFC

In PCS 7 ES, a scalable authorization is required for engineering with CFC. The authorization required depends on the number of process objects configured in the CFC chart.

You can find out how many process objects are configured as follows:

1. Open any chart in CFC.

2. Click on the menu command Options > Chart Reference Data. The "Chart Reference Data" dialog opens.

3. Click on the menu command View > Statistics.

4. Result: You will find the number of "Process objects (x)" and the scale of the authorization (in the following example, see Figure: 430 Process Objects) in the "OCM-relevant process objects in the project" path.

Authorizations are available for the numbers of process objects shown below:

• 250 process objects

• 2000 process objects

• 3000 process objects

• 5000 process objects

• Unlimited - unlimited number of process objects can be configured (per OS server limited to 8000 process objects)

Note

When compiling an OS, approximately 30 external variables are obtained for the OS stations per process object. The authorizations for the OS stations differ from the ES authorizations since the authorization is per OS server.

Authorizations for SIMATIC PDM

In PCS 7, a scalable authorization is required for SIMATIC PDM. The authorization required depends on the number of configured devices. The authorization SIK/SIMATIC PDM basic software V5.2 includes the following authorizations:

• Communication over HART modem,

• Communication over RS-232,

• Communication over PROFIBUS DP/PA up to 4 TAGs (devices)

For SIMATIC PDM, the following authorizations are available for greater numbers of devices:

• 128 TAGs (This PDM authorization can be used to configure a maximum of 128 devices.)

• 512 TAGs

• 1024 TAGs

• 2048 TAGs

• unlimited number of devices

Overview This section describes the structure of PCs for operator control and monitoring (simply known as PCS 7 OS below ) of a PCS 7 system. The chapter explains the required hardware and software components and the essential combinations for application.

Introduction SIMATIC PCS 7 provides a fully integrated system for operator control and monitoring of process control systems. This meets all the requirements of a modern operator control and monitoring system. SIMATIC PCS 7 can be used for systems ranging from small to extremely large.

The configuration is created on the engineering system (PCS 7 ES) and the process is controlled during runtime from the PCS 7 OS. The sections of configured data relevant for control of the plant must be transferred from the PCS 7 ES to the PCS 7 OS.

3.3 OS Single Station

You can use the OS single station (single user system) for operator control and monitoring in small systems or sections of a system. Permanent operability of a plant can be achieved by using more than one OS with the same configuration.

Application

You can use the OS single station for the following:

• Small plants

• Local operator stations

• Training systems

Recommendation

If you want more than three OS single stations to access an AS, it makes more sense to use an OS server with three OS clients since with a client-server configuration:

• only the server accesses the data of the AS. The server distributes the data of the AS to the OS clients.

• the load on the AS and plant bus is reduced.

• common operator logs are kept.

The OS Single Station can also be configured redundantly with the optional package "WinCC Redundancy".

3.4 OS Server

Application

You can use an OS server:

• In all types of system.

• To supply up to 32 clients with process data. Up to a total of 32 monitors can be operated on these clients (for example 8 clients each with a maximum of 4 monitors ).

• When you require a minimum load on the AS and require several operator control and monitoring stations.

• Permanent operability of a system can be achieved by using more than one OS server with the same configuration or redundant OS servers.

Note

Using an OS server as an operator control and monitoring station is permitted as of PCS 7 V6.0 SP3 is no more than 4 OS clients are operated with this server.

Difference between Client-Server and Several Single Stations

One advantage of a client-server structure for operating the plant is that a uniform operator log is kept. On an OS single station, operator input is only registered locally.

3.5 Redundant OS Servers

Application

You should always use redundant OS server pairs when the availability of the operator control and monitoring system is essential in your system.

Properties

• A redundant OS server pair requires only one configuration (like one OS server).

• From client PC perspective, a redundant OS server pair behaves just like one OS server.

• In a project with a redundant OS server pair, the advantage is that if one of the OS servers fails, the process can continue to be operated and monitored using the redundant OS server without any interruption.

• Number of servers: see section "Number of Workstations"

Note

Using an OS server (redundant) as an operator control and monitoring station is permitted as of PCS 7 V6.0 SP3 is no more than 4 OS clients are operated with this server.

Setting Redundancy

The installation of a component of a redundant OS server pair is just the same as the installation for an OS server.

To install a redundant OS server pair:

• Transfer the "SIK/SIMATIC WinCC Redundancy" authorization to the PCs that will operate as a redundant server pair.

• After creating a project, you must make the project-specific settings. Refer to the online help on WinCC "Redundancy".

The Redundancy optional package of WinCC ensures the data integrity of the operator stations in PCS 7 following the failure of an OS.

Redundant OS servers have to be connected via a redundancy cable.

OS Failover

In a system with redundant OS servers, you can achieve permanent operability by configuring different preferred servers for the client projects.

The clients fail over to the redundant partner (OS server):

• Immediately when an OS server is deactivated by the runtime user interface.

• Delayed for seconds (< 30 seconds, typically 15 seconds) if there is an interruption on the terminal bus (TCP/IP timeout).

• Immediately when the OS server becomes invalid (for example triggered by the failure of an OS server).

• When a communication connection to an AS component is interrupted and when this connection is capable of functioning with the redundant partner (OS server).

• When one or more applications fail on a PCS 7 OS (server, client). The signs of life of the installed WinCC applications are monitored by the WinCC application "Health Check".

Health Check

"Health Check" monitors the installed WinCC applications that are required to run on the computer.

"Health Check" performs the follow checks automatically:

• Checks the functionality of the required WinCC applications. If "Health Check" detects a problem, redundancy control triggers a failover after a certain time if the problem persists.

• Checks the status of processes (running, exists, entering state, exiting state).

Health Check is an expansion of the redundancy control for the applications that cannot be monitored by redundancy control. If Health Check detects a problem, redundancy control triggers the failover.

3.6 OS Client

Application

In PCS 7, an OS client is used as an operator control and monitoring station. The plant data is provided by an OS server.

• An OS client can access the data of up to 12 OS servers at the same time (for example plant sections within a project).

• You can achieve permanent operability by configuring different preferred servers for the OS client projects in a system with redundant OS servers.

Caution!

If OS clients access servers of different PCS 7 projects, you must assign different OS names (not the PC names) (for example Proj1OS1, Proj2OS1 etc.).

3.7 OS Archive Server

In PCS 7 Version 6, you can specify the maximum number of process values that can be archived in a system within a certain time during the configuration of your server. The following options are available to you for archiving process values:

An OS process value for archiving corresponds to one archive TAG.

Note

The changes to process values over time are stored on the OS archive server.

Alarms and events are archived on the OS server.

Graphics

With a suitable multi VGA card, you can connect up to 4 monitors for operator control and monitoring of the process on one OS client PC.

Bus Interfacing

• Terminal bus A PCS 7 OS interfaces with the terminal bus over an Ethernet card.

• Plant bus The attachment of PCS 7 OS components (OS single station, OS server redundant, and OS server) to the plant bus can be implemented using various interface modules for Industrial Ethernet:

- CP 1613 recommended

- Standard Ethernet module or CP 1612 or CP 1512 PCMCIA (no attachment of redundant connections and only a maximum of 8 AS connections possible)

Signaling Devices

The possible options are available for outputting message signals:

• You can activate up to 3 signal contacts (for example for different signaling devices - acoustic/optical) using a standard signaling module for PCS 7 PCs.

• You can use a PC sound card for outputting signals.

• You can use sound cards and standard signaling modules at the same time.

• With the sound card, you can play an individual sound for each of the maximum 16 message classes.

3.10 Authorizations for the PCS 7 OS

The PCS 7 Toolset package contains the software for several software products. With the software packages for PCS 7, you receive only the authorizations (license keys) required for the specific program package.

PCS 7 OS Authorization

For each PCS 7 OS station, you require a scalable authorization.

PCS 7 OS distinguishes between the following authorizations:

• RT authorizations allowing unlimited (in terms of time) use of WinCC in the runtime mode. The use of the editors is possible only in the demonstration mode for a limited time.

• RC authorizations allowing the use of WinCC in the runtime mode and in the configuration mode with no time limits.

For process objects (PO), different numbers of external variables (PowerTag - PTg) are required for visualization. To calculate which authorization is necessary, an average of approximately 30 external variables is assumed per process object.

The authorization required to archive process values in the OS project depends on the number of process values (archive TAGs - ATg).

The RT (xPTg)(yATg) / RC (xPTg)(yATg) authorization specifies how many external variables (xPTg) and process values (yATg) are permitted for the configuration.

With this authorization, you can define the following configuration:

• Up to 8000 external variables (8000 PTg) and

If you use the "Compile OS" function in the SIMATIC Manager, you can obtain the number of configured external variables in the WinCC Explorer as follows:

The authorization allows you to archive a certain number of process values with PCS 7 OS. The basic package is supplied with an authorization for 512 process values. The following scaled authorizations are available for OS server and OS single station:

• Maximum of 512 archivable process values (for OS client and basic authorization for OS server)

• 512 through 1500 archivable process values (powerpack)

• 1500 through 5000 archivable process values (powerpack)

• 5000 through 30000 archivable process values (powerpack)

• 30000 through 80000 archivable process values (powerpack)

You care increase the number of archivable process values using powerpacks.

Example:

If you need to archive approximately 20,000 and process values, install the basic authorization and the powerpacks for 1500 through 30000 process values (3).

Operator Control and Monitoring with SIMATIC BATCH

PCs for operator control and monitoring of batch processes are simply called BATCH PCs in the rest of this section. The BATCH PC is a PC on which the software for working with SIMATIC BATCH is installed.

4.5 Redundant BATCH servers

You can increase the availability by setting up redundant BATCH Server PCs.

A redundant server pair behaves like one server from the perspective of the process.

Redundant BATCH Server PCs allow the software to be updated during operation.

Redundancy with Data Replication

The implementation of a redundant BATCH Server PC depends on the requirements for data storage, the failover times, and the resources.

Redundancy is achieved by two BATCH Servers with a master/standby failover if a problem occurs. Databases are installed on each of the BATCH Servers. Data is stored on each BATCH Server. The standby server synchronizes the data using database functions. By constantly synchronizing the databases (data replication) between the servers, the BATCH applications can always access the current data of the active BATCH Server. If one BATCH Server PC fails, the other continues with the current data.

4.6 BATCH Client

• The BATCH client opens the server project over the network; in other words, it does not have its own BATCH project.

• The data of several BATCH projects/servers can be stored on one BATCH client. A client application can only work with one project/server.

• The number of BATCH clients on one BATCH server is limited only by the load on the server (32 clients on one server did not cause any problems during load tests).

Data Exchange

The link between different BATCH PCs and between BATCH stations and OS stations is over the terminal bus.

Points to Note about the BATCH Client

Note the following special situations:

• The user login depends on the run status of the OS client. When the BATCH client applications start, the following login is adopted:

- OS client in RUN status - the OS user of the OS client.

- OS client not in RUN status - the operating system user of the PC.

• The BATCH client applications work with only one BATCH Server and all OS servers configured in the BATCH project that have relations with the BATCH server.

• If you install BATCH client applications on an OS client, the OS servers always remain the same for the BATCH client applications regardless of the active OS server of the OS installation.

4.7 Hardware for the BATCH PC

SIMATIC BATCH client installations can also be installed on PCS 7 OS clients because the program package is integrated in the PCS 7 process control system. The basic hardware used with PCS 7 is listed in section "The PCS 7 PC Hardware, Software, and Installation".

For a SIMATIC BATCH project, a scalable BATCH Server authorization is necessary (redundant server pair - 2 authorizations). The necessary authorization depends on the number of process objects configured in SIMATIC BATCH (IEOP, IEPH, IUNIT blocks and instances of the SFC types).

Authorizations are available for the numbers of process objects shown below:

• 150 Process objects (type 0)

Requirements

Note

For communication between BATCH PCs and the AS, access to the PCS 7 OS is necessary. SIMATIC BATCH can only handle the process data in conjunction with an OS component. Control system messages of the BATCH PCs are displayed on the PCS 7 OS (OS server, OS single station system or OS client).

To use SIMATIC BATCH, you must have the software for a SIMATIC PCS 7 OS version 6.x installed on the relevant OS stations.

• Batch data management can only be installed on one BATCH Server.

• You must make sure that the BATCH server on which the batch control and batch data management will run can access WinCC V6.0 .

• If you want to use the BATCH server as an operator control station for SIMATIC BATCH, the BATCH Server should be assigned a maximum of one BATCH client to avoid performance problems.

• You should not link more than 32 BATCH clients to a BATCH server.

Note

Projects converted from SIMATIC BATCH versions earlier than V6. can continue to use the interface blocks of the AS configuration in CFC and SFC.

6.1 Communication with PCs

In PCS 7 version 6.0 Industrial Ethernet (10/100 Mbps) is recommended for communication on the terminal bus and the plant bus. The following bus systems will be looked at more closely:

In PCS 7, the terminal bus is used for the following:

• To download to the operator stations (OS) from the engineering station (ES).

• To transfer the data prepared by the OS servers to the operator control and monitoring station.

• To provide communication between the OS stations and BATCH stations.

• To communicate with @PCS 7 components.

The TCP/IP protocol is used.

You can set the following protocols on the plant bus :

• ISO protocol: This is recommended to achieve better performance on the connections between PCS 7 PC components and SIMATIC stations.

• TCP/IP protocol

A mixture of ISO protocol and TCP/IP protocol is not permitted.

6.2 PC Components in the Network

This section provides you with an overview of the networks with PC components used in PCS 7.

The type of network used depends on the following factors:

• The number of connected PCs

• The span of the planned network

• The required transmission rate for the data

The design of the network depends on other factors such as:

• Availability (redundancy)

• Expandability (maximum number of bus nodes)

• Immunity to noise (cable shielding, problems resulting from magnetic and electrical fields)

By selecting suitable components you can influence operation and performance:

• Break networks down into smaller subnets (gateways, bridges, switches)

• Reduce or eliminate the effects of interference caused by magnetic and electric fields (fiber-optic components)

• Establish communication with distant stations (modem, router)

• Simplify commissioning and service in the LAN

Planning and Design Notes

In PCS 7, Industrial Ethernet is recommended as the network type for communication with PC components and between PC components.

• If you want to exchange data with non-PCS 7 networks, note the following points:

- Design and structure the network for the PCS 7 components so that no noise can affect the PCS 7 network.

- To interconnect (and isolate) the networks use suitably configured switches, routers or gateways.

• If you want to establish communication between a redundant AS (SIMATIC H Station) and an OS server/an OS Single Station, this communication should be established via a CP 1613.

6.3 Downloading the AS Configuration

The first time you download to the AS you have the following options:

• Downloading to the AS over Industrial Ethernet

• Download to the AS over MPI

Downloading to the AS over Industrial Ethernet

Requirement:

• The AS must have a SIMATIC CP installed with a fixed MAC address (for example, type: 6GK7443-1EX11-0XE0 firmware 2.0).

• The SIMATIC CP with a fixed MAC address should be accessible directly (without connectivity devices, for example switches) over Industrial Ethernet from the PCS 7 ES.

Downloading to the AS over MPI

Requirement:

• a PC with an MPI card (for example a PCS 7 ES with a CP 5611).

• an MPI cable

• PCS 7 or STEP 7 installed

• a project with the correct hardware configuration.

Downloading the hardware configuration is explained in the help on STEP 7 "Setting the PG/PC Interface" and in the Configuration Manual Process Control System PCS 7; Engineering Station.

1. Establish a connection between the PC and AS with an MPI cable.

2. Set the access path to the AS to the MPI card.

3. Download the hardware configuration to the AS.

After successfully downloading of the hardware configuration to the AS, change over the access path to the AS to Industrial Ethernet. This allows you to download the configured data to the AS more quickly.

6.4 Interfacing OCM Systems over OPC

OLE for Process Control (OPC) provides a standard mechanism for communication with numerous data sources. It is does not matter whether these sources are machines in your factory or a database in your control center.

Interfacing OCM Systems over OPC

OPC is based on the OLE/COM technology of Microsoft. The OPC interfaces of PCS 7 meet the requirements of the OPC Foundation.

For PCS 7, data exchange based on process variables (data access) is possible.

PCS 7 OS Server with OPC Data Access Server

The applications of the OPC interface are based on the client-server model. Along with the PCS 7 Toolset CD program package, an OPC Data Access Server is also installed. Each OPC client application can access process data (tag management) of this OPC server.

The PCS 7 OS server provides the functionality of data access as the interface to the systems in industrial communication. The PCS 7 OS server can be used as

• OPC Data Access Server

or

• OPC Data Access Client.

On the PCS 7 OS server, you can use OPC to establish a connection to several operator stations. You can also established the direction to the operator station over a network (for example a local data network).

6.5.1 Time-of-Day Synchronization in the PCS 7 Project

In a PCS 7 system, all the systems should work synchronously. This requires synchronization of all components:

There are several ways of synchronizing the time of day on the AS in PCS 7 as shown below:

6.5.2 Synchronizing the Time of Day over the Plant Bus

OS servers and automation systems are connected to the plant bus.

• As a rule, all OS servers are specified as time masters, so that every OS server acting as a passive time master can become an active time master in the event of a timer failure.

• All automation systems are basically time slaves.

Requirement

Time synchronization via the plant bus requires one of the following interfaces:

• CP1613

• Network card in combination with BCE software

The interfaces provide the following options:

• Sending and receiving of time message frames

• Saving of time

• Configuration as time master or time slave

6.5.3 Synchronizing the Time of Day over the Terminal Bus

Note

To synchronize the Systems of the PCS 7 Box, please use the manual; Process Control System PCS 7, SIMATIC PCS 7 BOX.

The terminal bus connects OS clients to OS servers. In certain network configurations, the terminal bus can also connect the remaining company network. In the PCS 7 environment, you will use the following two settings for the terminal bus to assign parameters for time synchronization:

• The "Use the time from a connected WinCC server" option is important for the time synchronization of OS clients: All OS servers on the terminal bus for which the OS client has downloaded server data can act as time masters for an OS client. OS clients have only simple network cards. They cannot send or receive time message frames; instead, they query the time from the OS server in fixed cycles.

• The "Use the time from a specific computer" option is important for time synchronization of OS servers. The computer names input in this case correspond to the computer names of the domain controllers in the Windows 2000 network. By default, the OS server receives the time from computer 1. If this domain controller fails, then the OS server receives the time from the second, redundant domain controller.

Setting the Time of Day Using External Components

The "Let time be set by external (third party) components" option is not applicable in the PCS 7 environment.

Synchronization of Runtime Components of PCS 7 OS

• With the "Time Synchronization" editor, you can make the settings for configuring the components of PCS 7 OS.

• You can open the editor in the WinCC Explorer with the following menu command: Editors > Time Synchronization.

New Installation and Update

If the "WINDOWS 2000" operating system is not installed on your PCS 7 PC, changing the operating system will involve reinstalling the PCS 7-PCs.

Attention

• Make sure that your hardware can be used and at least meets the minimum requirements. (You will find information in the product information PCS 7 readme.wri for your PCS 7 version.)

• Transfer your authorizations back to the original disks.

• Before reinstalling the unchanged project make a backup of the project and the data belonging to it (if possible you should create an image, refer to the manual Process Control System PCS 7; Service Support and Diagnostics).

• Make the preparations for updating the software - refer to the manuals relating to updating on the PCS 7 Toolset CD.

• Save the software necessary for the software update.

7.3 Installing the Operating System

7.3.1 Note on Installing the Operating System

Note

You can integrate PCs on which PCS 7 is installed in a network.

Never use a PCS 7 server PC (server for SIMATIC BATCH or PCS 7 OS) for domain management (for example DHCP server, DNS server). If a PCS 7 server is also expected to process these services as a server, this can lead to overload of the resources of the PC causing problems in PCS 7 functionality.

Attention

Only the software products listed in this manual should be installed on a PCS 7 PC. This applies in particular to a runtime PC (OS, SIMATIC BATCH).

Installing programs that have not been approved by Siemens departments and running these programs at the same time can have a negative influence on the PCS 7 system response.

The user is solely responsible for such influences.

If you nevertheless require non-PCS 7 products, these should be installed before you install PCS 7. In this case, make sure that PCS 7 and the "other" products are not active at the same time.

7.3.2 Operating System and Hard Disk Partitioning

The operating system should only be installed by suitably qualified personnel (this applies in particular to installation of servers and networks).

Partitioning the Hard Disks

To make data backup easier, you should divide your hard disks into partitions:

• For the operating system and the PCS 7 installation (approx. 8 GB)

• For project structures (more than 4 GB, possibly several partitions)

• For backups - Backups should be made on media that are not affected by failure of the PC or the hard disk with the original data: for example CD, MOD, also possible over the network.

7.3.3 Installing the Operating System

Install all the necessary modules and devices in your PC.

1. Activate the "Plug&Play" option in the BIOS.

2. To install the required operating system, follow the instructions in the setup (operating system, see appendix "Software Packages and Required Authorizations").

3. Regional settings * Make the settings for your specific system.

4. Personalize software * Make the settings for your specific system.

5. Licensing Mode * This dialog only appears in the setup of Windows 2000 Server and Windows 2000 Advanced Server (not in Windows 2000 Professional).

- Make sure that you have the correct number of licenses.

- The default setting for the licensing mode is: "per server".

6. You must select the "per seat" option for the licensing mode if there is more than one server or more than five clients in one area. In this context, area means a subnet, a workgroup or a domain.

8. Date and time settings * Make the settings for your particular system.

10. Workgroup and domain * If you have completed step 9, make the settings for your system, otherwise you can configure these later.

12. If you are installing the server, the operating system will start the dialog for installing the Message Queuing service. For more detailed information, refer to the section "Installing the Message Queuing Service > Version for Windows 2000 Server""

7.3.4 After Installing the Operating System

Note

If you install Windows 2000 Professional, you must activate the "message queuing service" (refer to the section: "Installing the Message Queuing Service").

1. Set up the users. With the following menu command, you open the dialogs for setting up users: Start > Settings > Control Panel > Administrative Tools > Computer Management >Users.

2. Install all the required drivers:

- For additional devices - internal and external (for example for memory media, network adapters for BCE),

- For special graphics cards - if you want to use a multi VGA card (recommended Matrox Multi VGA) use the driver supplied on the second PCS 7 CD (in the folder Drivers > Display > Matrox Multi VGA > ...).

3. Install the additional software as explained in the readme file of PCS 7 (for example service packs, Internet Explorer).

4. Use the following menu command to open the dialogs for the display settings: Start > Settings> Control Panel> Display.

5. In the "Settings" tab, set the screen resolution to 1280 x 1024 (for poorer quality monitors or for a larger display, set 1024x768).

6. Change to the "Screen Saver" tab.

7. Set "None" in the drop-down list box under "Screen Saver".

8. In "Energy saving features of monitor", click on the "Power" button.

9. Set "Never" in all the drop-down lists of "Settings for power scheme".

10. Close the dialog with the "OK" button.

11. After setting up the network of Windows 2000 make sure that all the licenses are available Select the following menu command: Start > Settings > Control Panel > Administrative Tools > Licensing. Go to the "Clients per Seat" tab. There must be no "unlicensed connection" in the system.

12. The Microsoft SQL Server must be installed before you start to install PCS 7. The SQL server is installed from a separate CD (see Section Installing the MS SQL Server.)

13. Check that all the services and drivers are functioning correctly in the event viewer of Windows 2000 (Start > Settings > Control Panel > Administrative Tools > Computer Management >System Tools > Event Viewer).

Recommendation

After starting and testing the installation, you should make a backup of the partition on which you installed the operating system (refer to the manual Process Control System PCS 7; Service Support and Diagnostics; Section: Backup by Creating an Image File). With this backup, you can prepare the PC for further new installations.

7.3.5 Installing a Service Pack

If you installed Windows 2000 without a service pack, the service pack must be installed later.

Note

For the currently required service pack, refer to the PCS 7 readme.wri (for PCS 7 V6.0 SP3, Windows 2000 service pack 4 is required).

Requirement

Procedure

1. Install the additional software as explained in the readme file of PCS 7 (for example service packs, Internet Explorer).

2. Start the installation routine by double-clicking on the "W2KSP4.exe" file. (W2KSP4 = Name of the Windows 2000 service pack 4 please select the corresponding name of the required service pack – see PCS 7 readme.wri.)

3. Click the button to accept the license agreement and click the "Install" button.

4. After successful installation, you must restart the computer and remove the installation CD.

7.3.6 Installing the Internet Explorer

The Internet Explorer is required to install SIMATIC PCS 7.

Note

For the currently required Internet Explorer, refer to the PCS 7 readme.wri (for PCS 7 V6.0 SP3, Internet Explorer V6.0 SP1 is required).

Windows 2000 is installed

Procedure

1. Insert the installation CD for the Internet Explorer in the CD drive.

- If a dialog box opens automatically, double-click "Install Internet Explorer(6) and Internet Tools". The installation setup is started.

- If the dialog box for installing the Internet Explorer does not open automatically, you must find the Setup on the CD. Open the Windows Explorer and double-click on the "ie(6)setup.exe" file in the CD-ROM drive. (ie6setup.exe = name of the setup file for the "Internet Explorer". Please make sure to install the version mentioned in the PCS 7 readme.wri.)

2. Agree to the license agreement in the Welcome dialog and click the "Next" button.

3. In the next dialog, click the "Next" button again. The installation is started. This can take some time.

4. After successful installation, a final dialog appears. Follow the instructions and then click the "Finish" button. Installation is complete after you reboot the PC.

5. After restarting the PC, you can remove the Installation CD from the drive.

7.3.7 Installing the Message Queuing Service

Requirements:

• Installed operating system with service pack and Internet Explorer (see note).

• Windows 2000 Professional: You must be logged in as administrator to make the installation.

• Windows 2000 Server: You must be logged in as domain administrator to make the installation.

Note

For the currently required versions, refer to the PCS 7 readme.wri (for PCS 7 V6.0 SP3, Windows 2000 service pack 4 and Internet Explorer 6 +SP2 are required).

Procedure for Windows 2000 Professional:

1. Select the following menu command Start > Settings >Control Panel .

2. Double-click on: Add/Remove Programs.

3. Click on the "Add/Remove Windows Components".

4. Select "Message Queuing Services" from dialog window, and confirm with the "Next" button.

5. Activate the option "Independent client" for the "Message Queuing type" (The "Manually select access mode to Active Directory" option button remains deactivated) and confirm with the "Next" button.

6. Activate the option " Message queuing will not access a directory service" in the "Message Queuing Server" dialog box and confirm with the "Next" button.

7. Check that all the Message Queuing services are activated correctly in the event viewer of Windows 2000 (menu command Start > Settings > Control Panel > Administrative Tools > Computer Management > System Tools > Event Viewer).

Procedure for Windows 2000 Server:

1. Select the following menu command Start > Settings >Control Panel .

3. Click on the "Add/Remove Windows Components".

4. Select "Message Queuing Services" from dialog window, and confirm with the "Next" button.

5. Select the option "Message Queuing Server " for the "Message Queuing type" and confirm with the "Next" button.

6. Check that all the Message Queuing services are activated correctly in the event viewer of Windows 2000 (menu command: Start > Settings > Control Panel > Administrative Tools > Computer Management > System Tools > Event Viewer).

Incorrect function

If an error message is displayed in "Description" in the "Event Properties" dialog, the installation is not correct. Uninstall the "Message Queuing Services" and repeat the installation.

If the PC is a member of a domain, check whether the Message Queuing Services are installed on the domain controller.

7.3.8 Installing the MS SQL Server

Microsoft SQL Server 2000 is necessary to install SIMATIC PCS 7. The SQL Server is installed from a separate CD.

Note

For the currently required Microsoft SQL Server2000, refer to the PCS 7 readme.wri (for PCS 7 V6.0 SP3, Microsoft SQL Server2000 SP3 is required).

No settings are necessary for PCS 7 - all necessary settings are stored as defaults. The SQL instance for PCS 7 OS is "WinCC".

The installation must be made only in conjunction with the PCS 7 OS installation.

Requirement

Windows 2000 Professional is installed.

Procedure

1. Insert the installation CD of MS SQL Server Service Pack in the CD-ROM drive. If the start dialog does not open, change to the CD drive in the Explorer and start the autorun.exe/start.exe file.

2. Select "Install SQL Server 2000" in the dialog.

3. In the Welcome dialog, click "Next". Agree to the license agreement with "Yes". Then click the "Next" button twice and the installation is started.

4. Click the "Finish" button in the final dialog when the installation is complete.

7.4.1 Installing the PCS 7 Packages

This section deals with the following topics:

Note

Please note the following:

• The information in the PCS 7 readme.wri file (CD1 of the software package PCS 7 Toolset CD V6.0 - Dr:\pcs7-readme.wri) and

• The instructions in the setup.

Attention

Only the software products listed in this manual should be installed on a PCS 7 PC. This applies in particular to a runtime PC (OS, SIMATIC BATCH).

Installing programs that have not been approved by Siemens departments and running these programs at the same time can have a negative influence on the PCS 7 system response.

The user is solely responsible for such influences.

If you nevertheless require non-PCS 7 products, these should be installed before you install PCS 7. In this case, make sure that PCS 7 and the "other" products are not active at the same time.

New Installation of the PCS 7 Software

The PCS 7 Toolset CD V6.0 software package contains the necessary software on several CDs.

You can start the installation programs within the system setup of PCS 7. You will find the system setup for the components on the corresponding CD:

Authorizations

You can transfer the authorizations as follows:

• Transfer the authorization after installing PCS 7 (recommended since the installation is not interrupted by the operator input required to authorize the PCS 7 software packages.)

• Transfer the authorizations during installation (this option is available during system setup)

Setting up Users

• You now set up user groups and the users.

• With the authorization for SIMATIC Logon, you have the right to manage users for PCS 7 OS and SIMATIC BATCH (see section "Configuring SIMATIC Logon").

Reinstallation/Updating

Note

Reinstallation or updating is possible only when the operating system of the PC is suitable for PCS 7 version 6.0 (Windows 2000).

If components of the PCS 7 software are already installed on your computer, a dialog relating to the type of installation appears when you run the setup. In this dialog, you must decide which type of installation you require:

• Installation or

• Update

Installation

With an installation, you have the option of installing additional components.

Update

With an update, existing components are replaced by newer versions of the same components. Please make sure that the new components of the new version are selected.

Note

If you want to update a previous version of PCS 7 V6.0, make sure you keep to the procedures explained in the manuals on software updates. The Sybase 7 database must be installed.

Installing PCS 7 Packages in the Network

Recommendation

If you want to install several PCs, you should make the following preparations:

Copy the installation CDs of the program package PCS 7 Toolset CD to a hard disk that can be accessed by all the PCs. This avoids having to keep changing the CDs and you can install several PCs at the same time.

Note

Remember that after restarting the PC, there is automatically a shortcut to the hard disk to which you copy the PCS 7 software packages.

1. Copy the files of the CDs to the appropriate paths (path: "CD1" for the first CD etc.).

2. From now on, you work on the computer on which you want to install PCS 7.

3. Open the Explorer and go to the directory in the network where you copied the CDs.

4. Start setup (see above: New Installation of the PCS 7 Software).

7.4.3 Licensing and Authorization of the PCS 7 Packages

Free of Viruses

Note

You should always carry out a virus check on your programming device or PC before installing or removing an authorization/license key.

To transfer the authorizations/license keys , the authorization diskette/license key diskette must not be write-protected. For this reason, there is a risk that a virus could be transferred between the hard disk and diskette.

How to Transfer License Keys

License keys can be transferred using the License Manager:

• When they were not transferred during setup

• When they are needed for other licenses purchased at a later time

• at other locations, that cannot be accessed by a computer's applications

1. Select the view using the menu command View > Management.

2. Open the storage location on the local or network computer where you wish to paste the license keys.

3. Open the storage location on the local or network computer where you wish to remove the license keys.

4. Select the license keys and drag them to the folder where you wish to save the license keys.

Result: The license keys are transferred.

Cut-and-paste

1. Select the view using the menu command View > Management.

2. Open the storage location on the local or network computer where you wish to cut the license keys.

3. Select the menu command Edit > Cut.

4. Open the storage location on the local or network computer where you wish to paste the license keys.

Result: The license keys are transferred.

Defective Cluster on the Hard Disk

Note

Transferring the authorization/license keys causes a cluster to appear on the target drive which is identified as "defective". Do not reconstruct this cluster or you will destroy the authorization/license keys.

Backing up all Authorizations/License Keys

With the Automation License Manager software, you can back up all authorizations/license keys on any authorization diskette (license key diskette).

7.4.4.1 Steps in Inserting a SIMATIC PC Station

Within a PCS 7 project, each SIMATIC PC station is managed in the SIMATIC Manager. A WinCC application and a communication module are configured for each SIMATIC PC in HW Config.

7.4.4.2 Commissioning Wizard

Overview

The Commissioning Wizard supports you in the following situations:

• Initial configuration of communication modules installed in the PC and

• During commissioning of a PC station with configured communication.

Note

During configuration, remember that Ethernet addresses specified must match the information in the engineering project.

Starting the Commissioning Wizard

The Commissioning Wizard is started automatically:

• After you install PCS 7 for the first time

• When a new hardware component is detected after restarting a PC on which the PCS 7 software is installed.

The Commissioning Wizard opens dialogs for configuration of all detected network modules.

Configuring with the Commissioning Wizard

1. In the start dialog "Welcome to the SIMATIC NET Commissioning Wizard 1(x)", click the "Next" button.

- The number of steps (x) required in the Commissioning Wizard depends on the number of newly detected network modules (if 4 steps are displayed, no new network module was detected.) .

- The "PC Station Configuration" dialog box opens.

2. Click on the "Next" button. Note:

Note that in the next entries you make (steps 3.-5.) for "modules in a configured PC station", you set the required network parameters (MAC, IP address).

Make sure that the index set for the module (slot - must be entered later in HW Config) matches the following:

• the PC station configured on the ES and

• the target station (configuration of the PC in the Station Configuration Editor)

3. Make the following settings in the "PC Station Configuration" dialog box for modules that attach to the plant bus:

- Set the "Use module for productive operation in configured PC station" option.

- Set the "Activate ISO protocol only" option. The ISO protocol is recommended to achieve better performance on the connections between PCS 7 PC components and SIMATIC stations.

4. For the SIMATIC CP attached to the terminal bus, make sure that the proposed MAC address is unique in the network in the "PC Station Configuration" dialog box.

Note

You make modifications to the IP address or subnet mask with: Start > Settings > Control Panel > Network and Dial-up Connections Properties > select component > Properties > change.)

5. Make the following settings in the "PC Station Configuration" dialog box for modules that attach to the terminal bus:

- Set the "Use module for productive operation in configured PC station" option.

- Uncheck the "Activate ISO protocol only" option.

Note

Use uniform protocols for all PCs for the access points to a bus.

6. Click on the "Next" button.

7. Make the following settings in the "PC Station Configuration" dialog: Uncheck the "SIMATIC NET OPC server in configured PC station" option.

8. Click on the "Next" button in the "Save the module configuration" dialog. The following message is displayed: If you change the component configuration all the component properties, the entire PC station is reconfigured and the existing database is lost!

9. Confirm the message by clicking the "OK" button. The settings are saved and they are then visible in the Station Configuration Editor.

10. In the "Configuration" dialog, click the "Next" button: The PC Station Wizard that can be started in this dialog has no significance for PCS 7.

11. Make the following setting in the window for the "Symbols": Check the "Do no use a symbol file" option and then click the "Next" button: (The "Use a symbol file" option is relevant only for projects in which the PROFInet and SIMOTION products are used.)

12. Click the "Finish" button in the "The SIMATIC NET Commissioning Wizard is finished" window.

7.4.4.3 Configuration Console

Note

You can also start the Configuration Console with the following menu command Start > Simatic > SIMATIC NET > Settings > Configuration Console.

1. In the navigation area, select the "Access Points" folder".

2. For every PC station, sets the access point "S7ONLINE" to "PC internal (local)".

For every PC network module you want to configure, sets the mode to "Configured mode".

1. Start the Station Configuration Editor: Start > Station Configuration Editor.

2. Click on the "Station name" button and enter the name of the PC station. This name must match the project-specific name of the PC station in the PCS 7 project.

3. Add the following missing components in the Station Configuration Editor by clicking on the "Add..." button. The "Add Component" dialog opens.

4. As the type, select "WinCC Application" or "WinCC Application (stby)" and set the same index (slot number) as you set for the WinCC application in HW Config.

Defragmenters are used to optimize hard disk access times.

Attention

The license key files and the files required for the authorization of PCS 7 components can be destroyed by defragmenters that move fixed blocks on a hard disk. Recommendation Always exclude authorizations from the defragmentation.

7.4.5.3 Notes on Using a Virus Scanner

Using a virus scanner when PCS 7 is running can cause problems with hardware expansions.

Please remember the following:

• When working with WinCC, dynamic virus protection using gatekeeper mechanisms is not possible since these mechanisms can lead to a blockage of the process interface to the modules.

• Only copy checked data to a PCS 7 component.

• Run virus tests offline and activate the process interface only after a hardware reset.

Optional Package "StoragePlus"

StoragePlus is meant for archiving diverse data from PCS 7 in a central database on a long-term period. You can manage distributed SIMATIC BATCH measuring values and messages from the OS archives, OS Reports and Batch data in StoragePlus. These data are provided regardless of the PCS 7 run-time systems. This way, you are able to view all data in a clearly arranged way using the Internet Explorer.

Note

StoragePlus is are not part of the PCS 7 Toolset CD Version 6.0 program package.

Installation

• The optional package StoragePlus can be installed on an OS client or on a separate PC.

• StoragePlus is are not part of the PCS 7 Toolset CD Version 6.0 program package. StoragePlus is supplied on an installation CD and can be installed via its own setup.

• Make sure you can store data on a long-term medium (for example, CD or DVD) using this PC .

8.5 Screen savers

The use of a screen saver on the PC on which PCS 7 is installed is not recommended for the following reasons:

• Processing the screensaver costs CPU time and can lead to system overload.

• The usable memory reduces continuously - some screen savers do not release the memory they use.

If you use a screensaver, you should deactivate it when running PCS 7.

8.6 Data Exchange

Introduction

It is often necessary to transfer data from one PC system to another.

In PCS 7, the following programs are recommended for this purpose:

• For data exchange at the enterprise level with PCS 7, you can use @PCS7 as the interface. To use this interface, you require the @aGlance/IT or Web@aGlance program.

• To allow service personnel to access the PCS 7 PC, you can use the "pcAnywhere" program.

Note

A test version of "pcAnywhere" is supplied on the CD with the PCS 7 Toolset program package. If you want to use this Symantec program permanently, you must purchase this program.
