In Depth

Tier 1

Root building for the Silver Hand Book is Tower of the Hand, which unlocks the first tier.

1 is slotted with Guardsmen of the Silver Hand, a basic line infantry tanking regiment to bolster the war capacity of the player.

2 is slotted with Uther, the Lightbringer. He is a well known Hero of the Silver Hand of the Paladin class. His retinue is a group of Knights of the Silver Hand that wear his colors, making him a powerful combat Hero in the early game. He can be slotted into any tier. He generates 1 Glory point per Round from The Light, the divine source of power for the Silver Hand paladins.

3 is slotted with Sheismar, the White Anvil. This is a Tier1 building which is a requirement for most of the Silver Hand weapons, armor, and engines. It unlocks Glorenzelg, High Blade of the Silver Hand and is a requirement for Bathrelim, Relik of the Patriarch. In addition, it generates 1 Glory of the Light each Round for being a Sacred Sanctuary. This building also is a requirement for many combat upgrades, like improved armor and weapons, but these were not slotted in this build.

4 is slotted with Flamestrike. A common spell useable by Silver Hand Heros during challenges and combats costing 3 Glory of the Light. It calls down a column of fire to burn enemies. Any spell or upgrade ability that is useable is called a Spell. Spells are smart and appear on the Spell Bar during combats, useable during the Pre-Round and the Post-Round. Spells usually have cool downs and resource cost in Glory points. (Max of 10 Glory, like combo points)

5 is slotted with Shield-Wagon. An upgrade for Guardsmen of the Silver Hand and other basic units to grant them greater toughness in battle. Also increases defensive capacity in combat challenges for warrior type heroes.

Tier 2

1 is slotted with Gregor the Jusiticiar. Gregor is a hero of the Warcleric class, with a contingent of armored priests called Judges. He is a hero better suited for challenges with his high Divine Magic, Lore, and Healing skills. He can also cast Exorcism if he had 3 Experience or greater. Gregor generates 2 Glory of the Light every round if he is undeployed and the Stronghold contains a Chapel.

2 is slotted with Imperial Charger Stables. A prerequisite building for Silver Hand cavalry units. It is included in this book in order to build Knights of the Silver Hand.

3 is slotted with Knights of the Silver Hand. A powerful cavalry unit great at finishing and absorbing enemy blows. Knights require the Imperial Charger Stables and can be upgraded into Paladins although this book does not spec for it.

4 is slotted with Blessed Greatswords of the Silver Hand. These are strong shock infantry troops good at delivering a knockout blow and stand toe to toe with defensive troops.

Tier 3

1 is slotted with Glorenzelg, High Blade of the Silver Hand. Glorenzelg is a special weapon that requires an Item Slot to use because of it's power and extra effects. Normally items are equipped to Heroes in the metagame. Glorenzelg, when purchased, is equipped to your highest ranking eligible hero, in this case Uther the Lightbringer. It always replaces any currently equipped weapon. Glorenzelg generates 5 Glory of the Light immediately upon purchase.

2 is slotted with Bathrelim, Relik of the Patriarch. This is a battle totem that confers bonuses to troops carrying it during battle. In this case, Bathrelim prevents units from dying when the receive a killing blow. It also generates 1 Glory of the Light per round.

3 is slotted with an upgrade called Divine Shield of Abdelreng. The upgrade affects Knights of the Silver Hand granting them the ability to sometimes cast Divine Shield on themselves when they are about to die. A potent combo when stacked with Bathrelim, Relik of the Patriarch. The upgrade also affects Heroes, allowing them an option to increase survivability in challenges.

Ideas for tommorow

- Each successive recruitment of a unit increases the cost to recruit it.

- Increasing recruit cost can be mitigated by upgrades or buildings.

- Make named root upgrades "free", costing only the BP to use them instead of a slot. In return, the are more specialized than roots, in effect, making them "Talents" for the book.

- Perhaps make roots variable, like the spec branches in WoW talents. (Arms, Fury, Prot)

- Add affixes to Heros that affect recruitment costs from thier Book, requiring all books to have at least 1 hero.

- Units that use spells, such as Divine Shield, must have some sort of gift, like "Ability" in Star Wars CCG. We dont want common troopers casting Divine Shield in the midst of combat.

- Seems to me that the ideal number of books in any Build is 2 major. 1 minor might also be added to this. A minor being a 5 slot Book of only a single Tier.

- Perhaps a minor book is a 2 Tier Book, 5 slots in Tier 1 and 1 slot in Tier 2.

- The Stronghold is an evolving 3D scene of animated sprites and models that depict the buildings and upgrades selected in the various books. It is limited only by a system of weights. Each Book's Core Building (and upgrades) take up some weight. A stronghold has X weight points, perhaps 24 or 28. The player must design his build to conform to the weight limits, or overdesign and make use of the Level option to clear more space and change strategy. As the game progresses, strongholds will expand to show the various animated subsets.
