Rubus ulmifolius Family- Rosaceae

Silva Physical features: It’s a vivacious bush showing long

stalks with thorns.The sprouts are strong with little thorns.The leaves are odd, 3-5 small oval foliolos, dentate,whitish colour under leave.

Flowers, slightly pink and seldom are white.They are hermafrodit and have 5 aciculate and 5 wrinkled petals. The stamen and carpel indeterminate.Blooming in May and August. Fruit,delicious wild blackberry,red cloured turning into black when fully developed.

Habitat:Wild growths ,woods, clearings or formimg

fences in wet places.

Medical uses:The leaves are used before

blooming, the flowers while in button, the sprouts and the berries are used to treat diabetes, diarrhea, aphtahe and hoarseness.

Propagation:This the most spontaneous specie of

the Rubus family.in the south of the country.

-The upper part is used in New Year’s rituals.

-It is used to build fences.
