PROSPECTING TARGET:
Targets prospected for were mineralized areas hosting lead.silver.copper aird gold . Emphasis was placed
on the area east of the old workings where testing has never been conducted. According to Robert Bums,
geologist for Prace Mines in the last three years o f operation, good copper mineralization occurs on strike
about 100 test east of the old decline but hud never been explored, (personal communication)
GEOLOGY:
Silver and lead vein mineralization occurs along the contact of a steeply dipping gabbronorite dike and
wackes of the Gowganda formation. Shearing and fracturing are common along the plane of the vein and in
adjacent wackes. The vein system of the mined out portion varies from l to 3 m in width with
grades of 40 ounces of silver and 10-30 percent lead.
WORK HISTORY
The area on wliich the prospect is located was originally (bund in 1972 by The Tribag Mining Company. A
high-grade argentiferous galena-bearing quartz-curbonute vein wus discovered during the 1972-73 drill
program. Tribag drilled seven holes totalling 42" m m a.'d around the silver vein.
The property was leased to the l'?..ce Mining Company tor the period 1973-1982. In 19"o. turther explor
ation resulted in the discovery of significant reserves and underground Development began in 1979 wirh a
decline reaching 30.5 771. A small mill was constructed and stockpiled oic was milled. Thv: concentrate
graded about 809o lead and 100 ounces of silver to the ton. Mining continued until 1982 at wliich time die
Prace went into receivership. lit i 984. production resumed tinder the name of Sill Lake Silver Mines and a
second underground level was installed. A l "2 tons of vein material with an average grade of o 4"o lead and
8.f oz of silver were removed. The property was allowed to lapse and became open fbr staking on
June 1. M9S. George Lucuik and myselfrestaked the property on July \
page?
l believe the potential of finding copper, lead and silver at this location is possible for the following reasons:
l . Favourable geology exists both to the east and west of previous exploration in areas yet
to be tested.
2. The area east of the decline has never been tested and it was felt, by Bob Burns.a previous
geologist who worked on the property', that there was excellent potential for Pb'Ag'Cu mineralization here
and it warranted further exploration.
3. Previous mining showed the vein as one of pinching and swelling and there is no reason
not to believe this does not continue in both directions.
4. The furthest hole drilled to the west: indicated massive galena, however, mining did not extend to
this point.
Preliminary- work to date has determined that lead-silver is located in mis area in significant amounts.
A soil sampling program over part of the eastern extention of the main vein was completed.
Two areas were stripped and trenched.
SOIL SAMPLE SURVEY
83, 2 Kg. B horizion soil samples were collected June 25. 26 1997 using a pick and trowel.
The samples were then sent to intertek Testing Services, dried and sieved to
- 80 fraction then analysed using multi-element ICP for 34 major elements. (see report in appendix)
Tlie topography varied from low swamp}' ground to the south of the base line to gently sloping south lacing
to the north of base line.
Two areas of interest were located.
The first is the numerous copper liighs located in the low ground south of DDH-2 location, and the second a
area of high lead in samples A- 1 03.A- 1 06,C- 1 06.E- 1 (F.E- 1 08.G- 1 09 cotncidete with the high silver and
copper in sample E- 10".
page 4
CONCLUSIONS
The soil sample survey indicates two areas of interest.
RECQJV1MENDA1IQN.S
Drilling should be carried out to the south of DDH-2 to investigate the high copper anomalies.
The area of the high lead, copper and silver anommalies should be stripped and depending on results
drilled to located source of mineraliztion.
The area around trench rf 2 should be further investigated, due to the narrow surface exposure of other
veins on property a large program may located more intense mineralization.
