Questions

• In the Silent Hill opening title sequence it pursues a symbolic design. This was done to keep the narrative structure a secret and intrigue the audience however I think this was only able to be done because this was the second film in the series meaning it had a inherited audience from its prequel as well as being a successful video game series.

• The opening title sequence informs the audience of what type of action and events they are expected to see during the film. The symbolism also keeps the audience guessing what actually going to see.

• It creates narrative enigmas by not giving away any of the plot or the setting and showing an unrelated seen with symbols of what represents the genre of a horror however I feel as though if this was not a sequel it may have a negative impact on the audience and become less appealing to them as they may feel confused or not understand any of the plot to be interested in the rest of the film.

Questions

• The sub genre of silent hill is a horror thriller and contains conventions such as blood, weapons etc but the opening title sequence itself isn't typical because a typical horror opening would have an establishing shot that sets the scene and addresses the plot and protagonist also usually have voice overs and start in equilibruims. In Silent Hill Revelations the ots is a frozen scene of figures with severed limbs and sharp weapons with blood.

• No characters are introduced this could be because the film is a sequel and the characters and plot may have been previously explained in the last film which intrigues the audience to watch the previous film.

• The credits appear in block white capitals while the camera moves around the frozen mannequins/figures
