staff me to get the list ready and in place at all our churches.
Daily Masses resume this week. To expedite the sign-in process, I am creang a group called Daily Mass Frequent Flyers on Flock-
note. This group is for those parishioners who are regulars at the Daily Masses. The idea is this, Sign in to the Masses, which you
plan on aBending regularly. If you become a Frequent Flyer, it does not mean you have to come each me that Mass is offered, but
that you will be coming regularly.
This way, we can check your name off a list when you arrive and not have to take your name and phone number each me.
However, please do not sign up to become a Frequent Flyer if you are just planning on coming to a Daily Mass infrequently. On
those occasions, we can manually take your name and phone number.
If you wish to become a Frequent Flyer, you can join on Flocknote using this link. hBps://avonthames.flocknote.com/signup/6614.
Or call the office to get signed up. Please arrive 10-15 minutes before the Mass and follow the instrucons of the Greeters. Thank

A Message from Fr. Bester: I want to thank everyone in our Family of Parishes for the
support that you have given me over the years, and the many acts of kindness that you
have shared with me. I want to thank all those who gave me cards and leBers and
giGs. This is all very much appreciated. As I begin this new chapter in my journey, I bring
with me many warm memories to Lucan from StraQord and St. Marys. When I walked
into St. Patrick Church, Lucan, I couldn't help thinking how this pandemic has brought us
all together--the physical distancing, the sanizing, the ushers giving direcon etc.
We all in this pandemic together, and together we will get through it. Let us all live in a
spirit of hope. Thank you. - Fr. Dick Bester
It is official, as of July 6th,
we are now a Family of Parishes. Our three long-standing par-
ishes are joined now to form the Avon-Thames Catholic Family of Parishes. We were
hoping to mark this occasion with more celebraon, but during this me of the pandem-
ic, we cannot. However, we have formed a commiBee that is planning an event to cele-
brate our ‘Family’ around our 1st anniversary next year.
Why have we chosen Avon-Thames as the name of our new Family? Water powerfully
connects us through our bapsmal call of cleansing and renewal by the grace of the Holy
Spirit. Geographically, our communies are joined by the two waterways and by our
shared faith. Our goal as Chrisans is to realize our bapsmal call to be a disciple of Jesus,
a call that invites all of us to share the Good News of Jesus Christ with others. We call this
evangelizaon. If our communies are going to be vibrant during this new season, then
we must take up the call to make disciples of all naons as Jesus taught us in His great
commission: “Go, therefore, make disciples of all the naons; bapze them in the name
of the Father of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teach them to observe all the com-
mands I gave you. And know that I am with you always; yes, to the end of me.” (MaB
28:19-20)
This is our new direcon for our Family of Parishes. Our Transion Team has completed
its work and has now become our first Parish council, which will be working with me, your
new pastor, this first year to develop a new pastoral plan.
Please pray for those who have died -
Especially Run Peter Maguet, Theo Nyenhuis (brother in law of Mary Nyenhuis)
and Duncan Gibson. May they rejoice in Your kingdom, where all our tears are
wiped away. Unite us together again in one family, to sing Your praise forever and
ever.
Please pray for those who are sick -
Especially Patricia Meszaros, Kathy Henderson, Bob McGill, Claire Nicholson, Don-
na Ashworth, Frances Kraemer, Barb Leyser, Nora Ryan and Joan Mezenberg.
Voca(ons Prayer Calendar:
July 12 - 18: Deacon John Lammers, Sr. Teresa Morrison (Pastoral Minister),

of Youth Ministry), Deacon Donald McCullough, Heather Cushing (Pastoral Minis-

Ongoing Communica(on: Please stay tuned for updates; you can look for them on
our websites, YouTube channel, Facebook page and also receive them directly
from new communicaon technology we have just launched called FlockNote.
Communicaon is going to be essenal. Flocknote allows us to text and email our
parishioners. Please text AvonThames to 514-900-0130. Or, if you can't complete
this on your mobile phone, please go online: avonthames.flocknote.com A re-
minder of our new Mass schedule: Saturday at 5:00 pm. at Immaculate Concep-
on Church and Sunday at 8:30 am. and 11:30 am. at St. Joseph's Church,
10:00 am. at Holy Name of Mary. To goal of this plan is to guide us in becoming a more mission-oriented Family of Parishes, forming disciples of Jesus.
Over this first year, you hear more about the process that we will be taking to develop this plan, so please stay tuned. In the mean-
me, keep praying for openness to where the Holy Spirit is guiding our Family of Parishes.
Pax, Fr. David Buter
