REGULATIONThis is the designmanual for the company, Sightseeing & Events Southampton. The designmanual contents rules about logo, colors, typography etc. In the designmanual all the materials in S&ES’ visual identity will be visualised and there will be examples on these. Most of the products in the designmanual are scaled down to fit the size of the designmanual, and therefore there will be difference between the real products and the ones shown here. The design-manual is made in a print friendly horizontal A4 layout so it’s easy to print out.

INTRODUCTIONS&ES has branched out from Southampton Away Travel who initially organised football away games for Southampton Football fans and now has expanded do-ing trips, tours and private events within the UK and across Europe. We offer a wide range of services from sightseeing Southampton and its neighbouring vil-lages and towns, to trips to London for sightseeing and maybe nights out in the big city, or private parties like cricket days, horse-racing days or even birthday parties. S&ES’ main focus is sightseeing trips and events in Southampton and its neighbouring villages and towns. Our trips and events are suited for everyone whether you’re from Southampton or just visiting for a short while and want to discover the city. From time to time we also have trips and events outside Southampton – like sightseeing in London and other exciting places.

LOGOThe logo for Sightseeing & Events Southampton consists of two ele-ments, a symbol and a logotype.

The symbol is a shape of a coach with 3 of Southampton’s most fa-mous attractions inside. It symbolizes that S&ES’ main transport method is with coaches.

The name is “Sightseeing & Events Southampton“ and is written with 3 different styles to make a certain amount of contrast.

The logo is available in two different versions. The above is the horizontal version, which is the primary logo. If it’s possible, it is always this logo to use in graphic context.

In addition, it is also in a vertical version, which is the secondary logo. The vertical logo can be used in places where there is little space horizontally and it may be a necessity.

LOGO - B/W & MONOThe monochrome version of the logo is made for the purpose of black / white print and in addition to non-standard printing methods such as embossing. The logo may also be used in black / white if there’s a requirement for this.

The above points apply to both versions of the logo. To the right it’s the vertical ver-sion of the logo that is visualized.

COLOR PALETTEColor plays an important role in a design line and can have a big impact on the psychological and emotional aspect. S&ES’ color palette consists mainly of 3 colors that are used when creating graphics products to the company.

In S&ES’ logo there are several black elements that have the shade of the color black. This color helps to create a contrast to the blue and red. The reason it is not 100% black is that it can sometimes be very hard to look at if there is a white background behind it. And therefore it’s adjusted slightly to make it more comfortable for the eyes.

NUANCED BLACK

Blue plays an importnat role in the visual identity of S&ES. Blue is a natural color and it’s in the design to visualize the fact that Southampton is a city by the coast and close to the blue water.

In the visual identity of S&ES the red color is being used mainly as a call-to-ac-tion color on banners, buttons osv. Furthermore it creates great contrast to the other colors in the design.

TYPOGRAPHYLogo font:In S&ES’ logo it’s the font Owald which is used for all letters. The advantage of Oswald is that it’s availiable in several versions to make a greater contrast.

Web font:For the website, all paragraphs are written with the font Lato. Lato is very pop-ular web font and is free if you download it through Google Webfonts.

Print font:For all print materials it’s the font Calibri that is used for almost all text. Calibri is a standard font on all computers.

BUSINESS CARDThe business card for S&ES consists of 2 sides. One side with the logo and an-other side with all the information. The dimensions of the business card are 85 x 55 mm.

LETTERHEADThe A4 letterhead for S&ES is made as an Word template and it’s only made with free fonts etc. so it’s easy for the customer to use in the future.

PROMOTION FLYERAs a part of the startup marketing strategy a half size A4 flyer was made. It pro-motes the 3 upcoming events. The reason why it’s Southampton Away Travel’s website on it is because the S&ES website wasn’t up and running yet.
