THE PICTURESQUE VILLAGE OF CHOBHAM, TUCKED IN THE NORTHEAST CORNER OF SURREY, IS STEEPED IN HISTORY AND SURROUNDED BY AWE-INSPIRING COUNTRYSIDE.
Records for ‘Cebeham’, as the area was then known, exist dating back to the Seventh Century, and the village is mentioned in the Domesday Book, listed as an estate controlled by Chertsey Abbey. Local archaeological discoveries, including Neolithic flint tools, round barrows, and Roman coins suggest even earlier inhabitation.
A village rich in history and character, the centre of Chobham is a designated conservation area, boasting a number of beautiful half-timbered listed buildings and the stunning Church of St. Lawrence, construction of which was started soon after the Norman Conquest. The high street is home to a variety of boutiques and independent stores, including a post office, an equestrian centre, a craft furniture store, florists, a wine merchant, a public house and a number of reputable places to eat.

Chobham is served by a regular bus services to nearby Woking. There is good access to the national motorway network, with the M3 (J3) and M25 (J11) both a short drive away, providing easy routes to both Heathrow and Gatwick Airport.
A number of highly regarded schools serve the local area, with Halstead Preparatory School located a little over two miles from the village centre and the outstanding rated Gordon’s School, one the country’s leading boarding schools, under four miles away.

To the north of the village is Chobham Common, an expansive area of lowland heath, one of the last remaining examples of its kind to be found on the planet. Served by six car parks, and full of history, it is wonderful to explore on long countryside walks. An ancient landscape, originally shaped by prehistoric farmers, the common is now a vast patchwork of mini-ecosystems and habitats boasting over 100 species of bird, and more than 300 varieties of wild flowers, including rare orchids and purple flowering heather during the summer months.

A vibrant village with a rich events calendar, Chobham holds a carnival every May Bank Holiday and the annual village festival, usually held toward the end of September, offers a diverse range of music, art, theatre and cultural events that attracts visitors from far and wide.
There are many places of interest and things to do in and around Chobham. The village pub is a popular destination for locals on evenings and weekends, with nearby Chobham Adventure Farm providing no end of excitement for younger residents.
