can we go?
FILM = MONEY running
through the camera.
Gives the shooting a tension
PHYSICAL EDITING
CGI
degrades lm as ahas to be
scanned and manipulated
then put back into lm
Digital/Video
digital no need to stop/start =
actors exhausted and need to
pee!
Danny Boyle -28 days lateron consumer dig cams = more
real and could hold trafc in
London for quick shoot rather
than close whole streets for
days. Can shoot illegallyand surrepticiously.
NON LINEAR DIGITAL
EDITING.
Robert Rodriguez: Editing =
the manipulation of images to
tell a story
Speed
CGI
all just information so easier
to manipulate
no degradation no limits

Celluloid/Photochemical/Film
Mid to late 90s shot on lm
then digitised
Film = Art + Labour
In lm colouring you have to
use chemical proceses and
dipping in tanks to adjust
colouring of lm.
Photochemical process
timing is crude and results
decided by colourist not
director.
Digital/Video
Pixel res
SD 720 x 480
HD 1920
ATTACK OF THE CLONES
2002 1st major feature chot
on HD video
O brother where art though?
(Cohen Brothers afliated with
Working Title Films)
Whole lm is digitally coloured
so gives rich sepia tones but
does not affect blue sky and
blue overalls.
Being able to digitally
manipulate could mean LESS
control for directors as anyone
canchange the look of youer
lm.
Colourist and DP decide the look of the lm
