President’s Message By SVP Susan Ringol

Hello there! The past two weeks has been a very busy week for me and PP Sioni. For starters, PP Sioni have already coordinated with three (3) beneficiary school while I did the same with my alma mater for our book donation project. We shall now coordinate with RC Makati, our partner in this project, for the release of the books and delivery to these beneficiaries. We have also attended the 3rd and 4th session of the Vocational Roadshow which we co-hosted at Great Eastern Hotel on July 28, 2009. There is one more session to go which will be held sometime this month. Last July 23, we co-hosted the Vocational Caravan to Lufthansa Technik Phils. which was very interesting and educational. Another joint project I attended was the launching and MOA signing of the project dubbed “Every Reader a Leader” which was held last Aug 4, 2009. We will soon coordinate with the Bgy. Valenzuela Barangay Chairman for the distribution of our Scholarship grant and for the formation of our RCC.

So many things to do and so little time. I wish I could stretch it a little

NUGGETS OF WISDOM

Be a Better Listener

Do you need to improve your listening skills? According to experts, "good listeners" display a pattern of distinctive behaviors and these can be easily practiced and mastered.

1. Stay focused. Minimize external distractions and pay close attention to what others say.

2. Interpret both words and emotions. The words people use are just one part of what they'resaying. You can capture the whole message by also paying attention to the emotions behind the words.

3. Do not interrupt. Interruptions decrease effective communication.

4. Resist filtering. Be open-minded; don't judge what someone says by your values only.

5. Summarize the message. Be sure you've heard something correctly by offering a quick summary of what the other person has said

CONGRATULATIONS!

Our PP Sessie Caoyonan received a loyalty award (a gold pin), from Secretary Ralph Recto, for her 35 years in service at the National Economic and Development Authority (NEDA) during their
