Moving Towards Certification
Outline
Three shrimp hatcheries in Andhra Pradesh state
Three tanks each for three treatments

Three cycles
Expected to complete by Jan/Feb 2020
MPEDA2019 18
Antibiotic free shrimp seed production pilot project
Outcome:
Production of antibiotic free shrimp PL
~10 % higher survival when compared to control
Production of WSSV and EHP negative tested PL
MPEDA2019 19
Antibiotic free shrimp seed
production pilot project
Suggestions for the certification came in 2018 - hatchery operator consultations conducted by MPEDA
Formulation of the Scheme A Committee - representatives of Hatchery & farmers associations, and
MPEDA prepared the draft & placed in the public domain Sent to all leading national and international institutions, Farmers associations, hatcheries associations etc. Carried out over 19 stake holder consultations covering over 1500 stake
holders The scheme finalized is proposed to be implemented on fully online
platform
Pilot to be implemented from January 2020 Scaling up planned for 2021 Next phase- antibiotic free farmed shrimp certification MPED,A2019 20
