DO NOT USE SCORNFUL AND SLIGHTFUL

SPEECHIn our scriptures great stress is laid on 'Non-violence', which means not to hurt anybody, physically, mentally or by speech. Sai Baba had realised that of all the above,harsh and scornful words hurt a person much more thanphysical or mental violence. Such cutting words are noteasily forgotten and cannot be withdrawn also.Consequently they cause ever-lasting enmity. Sai Baba,

therefore, not only advised His devotees "not to speak cuttingly to anyone so as to hurt him to the quick "(Ch. 19, P. 104), but on the contrary, off and on, said :"Let anybody speak hundreds of things against

you, do not resent by giving any bitter reply. If youalways tolerate such things, you will certainly behappy " (Ch. 19, P. 101-102) and in addition to make sure

that they did follow His advice, used to say :

"He who carps and cavils at others, pierces Me inthe heart and injures Me, but he that suffers andendures, pleases Me most." (Ch. 44, P. 237)



Regarding tongue another advice of Sai Baba waslo avoid arguments or hot discussions on any subject with others. Arguments spring fromegoism. Arguments lead to quarrels and spreadenmity.

DO NOT INDULGE IN SLANDER-MONGERINGNOR IN DISCUSSING OTHERS' AFFAIRS

UNNECESSARILY Sai Baba advised His devotees not to indulge in scandal orslander of others. For this, He had His own methods of correcting the defaulters. He, being omniscient, knew, when and where the devotees had committed the fault,and so, he could correct them effectively by taunting themalso. In Ch. 19, Sai Baba pointed out to such a defaulter, apig that was eating filth near a fence and said to him,

"Behold how with what relish it is gorging dung. Your conduct is similar. You go on reviling own brethren to your heart's content."Needless to say that the devotee was ashamed and took thelesson to his heart forever.Similarly, in Ch. 21, having known that a pleader fromPandharpur, had unnecessarily taken part in a discussion

in the bar room regarding the sub-judge Noolkar's comingand staying at Shirdi for cure of his ill-health, Sai Baba, when the pleader himself arrived at Shirdi, started saying,"How cunning people are! They fall at the feet, offerDakshina, but inwardly give abuses behind the back. Is notthis wonderful?"The pleader understood that the remark was aimed at himself and being convinced, later said toKakasaheb Dixit,"This is not a rebuke to me, but a

favour and advice, that I should not indulge in any scandal or slander of others and not to interfereunnecessarily in others' affairs."



Messages from the teachings of Sai baba for 10th Jan Wealth Multiplies as We Share it With OthersGod has provided us with abundant wealth and thereby assigned us the duty of making good use of it. But the

wealth given to us is meant for sharing it with others. By hoarding it greedily, it becomes the cause of abjectpoverty. Baba makes use of us as His instruments to fulfilHis nobler ends. The major objective of the Sai Master isto uplift the poor and the helpless. We are only thecustodians and trustees of the wealth but not its owners.The wealth Baba gives us is endless. It multiplies upon

sharing it with others. If we fail to discharge the duty of atrustee, we may have to lose the wealth gifted to us by theMerciful Baba. By virtue of good past life, some wealthy people are treated as "trustees of wealth" by Baba.However, the possession of wealth does not meanconstruction of granaries and iron safes to store it with a

greedy mind. We should never get enslaved by grossselfishness and greediness when Baba blesses us grow richer and prosperous. Unspent and hoarded wealth may

go waste or get lost by theft. Then, nothing remains withus. Therefore, we must give up our ego and greed anddonate money for good cause. The Supreme Master, SaiBaba would appreciate our service and increase our fundof wealth by many folds. We must always remember andfollow the ideal of Baba set before us, viz. 'The wealth getsmultiplied by sharing it with the needy'."Shri SaiSatCharita ---> Leads you in Sai's unique Path"
