SHPSwilldothefollowingtobuildtheschoolsandparentscapacityforstrongparentalinvolvement:

ConveneaSchoolSiteCouncilateachschoolandotheradvisorycommitteesasnecessary. ProvideallparentsateachschoolwithacompletecopyoftheParentalInvolvementPolicyvia

thestudenthandbook,directmailingorbacktoschoolnights/openhouseandbymakingthe

planavailableateachschoolsmainofficebyOctober1(afterBoardofDirectorsapproval).

UtilizeaParentLiaisonthatcoordinatesparentcommunication,workshops,activitiesandclubstoeducate,empowerandtrainparents(asfeasible).

Holdbacktoschoolmeetings. Provide,asnecessary,trainingforparentstoenhanceinvolvementinspecificactivitiesor

committees.

Offeralternativeopportunitiesforparentinvolvementbyschedulingalternativemeetingdates/timeandconductinginhomeconferencesforthoseparentsunabletoparticipatein

regularlyscheduledmeetings.

SHPSwillcoordinateandintegrateparentalinvolvementstrategiesintootherprogramsby:

Involvingcommunityorganizationsandbusinesses,includingfaithbasedorganizations,inparental

involvement

activities.

SHPSwillconduct,withtheinvolvementofparents,anannualevaluationofthecontentand

effectivenessoftheparentalinvolvementpolicyandusethefindingstodesignmoreeffective

parentalinvolvementby:

Identifyingbarrierstoparticipationbyparents(especiallylimitedEnglishproficiency,limitedliteracy,andminorityparents).

Trackingparentvolunteeringandattendanceatschoolwidemeetings.SHPSwilltakethefollowingactionstoinvolveparentsintheactivitiesofTitleIschools:

Holdanannualmeeting(foreachschoolseparately)toinformparentsoftheirschoolsparticipation

in

Totheextentfeasible,eachschoolwillvarymeetingtimes,dates,placestoincreaseparentalinvolvement.

Provideparentswithopportunitiestovolunteerandactivelysupportschoolinitiatives(i.e.,charterrenewal)athis/herstudentsschool. ParentsofPS7studentswillberequiredto

contribute40hoursofvoluntaryservicetotheschool.

Utilizeavarietyofcommunicationmethodstoensureparentalinvolvement.SHPSwillprovidenoticeandinformationundertheParentsRighttoKnowrequirementstoall

parentsinanunderstandableanduniformformat,andtotheextentpractical,inalanguageparents

canunderstand viastudenthandbooks,parentschoolmeetings,andothermeansasnecessary.
