New parishioners please fill out a Registration form, which are available on line or at the back of the Church. Thank you. Before the celebration of Mass it is a praiseworthy practice for silence to be observed in the church so that all may pray silently and prepare themselves to carry out the sacred celebration in a devout and fitting manner. Please be respectful of those around you as well as please remember that the Blessed Sacrament is present in the Tabernacle and reverence should be observed at all times. Reflection We are all called to the difficult work of discipleship, to be both hearers and doers of the word. In and through our baptism, we were given new life in Christ and became members of the Body of Christ – the Church. As such, each of us is called to holiness, and to use our unique gifts and talents to further the work and mission of the Church. We are also called to use these gifts to help build up God’s kingdom on earth, and lead lives which give glory to God. Liturgy of the Word: The reading from the Acts tells of the Apostles ordaining seven men as deacons to help ensure the needs of those in the early Church were being served as the Church continued to grow and develop. The second reading uses Hebrew Scripture to illustrate that Christ is the foundation of the Church, and his followers are living stones a holy people. In the Gospel, Jesus says that he is the Way and the Truth and the Life. (Vatican   Radio)   Pope   Francis  during  his  Wednesday  General  Audience   continued   his  catechesis   on  Christian   Hope,  highlighting  Mary   the  Mother  of   Hope.     Pope   Francis  described  Mary  as  the  Mother  of  Hope  adding  that  she  was  a  woman   of   courage,  perseverance   and   obedience.  Speaking   to   the   thousands   of   pilgrims   and  tourists   in   St   Peter’s   Square,   the   Pope   said  that,    “Our   Lady’s   experience   of   motherhood  models   that   of   so  many  mothers   in   our  world.”  Mothers  who  have  had  to  confront  the  suffering  of   their   children.   He   went   on   to   say   that   she  courageously   accepted   her   vocation   and  welcomed   the   new   life   entrusted   to   her.     The  Holy   Father   also   noted  how  despite   the   trials   in  her   life,   she   remained   always   obedient   to   God.  Mary,   Pope   Francis   commented,   is  with   her   son  until   the   very  end.  Her   image,  he   said   “standing  at  the  foot  of  the  cross  and  grieving  the  death  of  her  innocent  Son  has  inspired  artists  of  every  age  to  present  her  as  a  model  of  persevering  hope  in  God’s   promises.”   The   hope   that   Our   Lady   had,  underlined   the   Pope,   was   the   fruit   of   a   life   of  prayer  and  daily  effort  to  be  conformed  to  God’s  will,   and   was   fulfilled   in   Jesus’   rising   to   new  life.     We   are   not   orphans,   Pope   Francis   added,  “we   have   a   Mother   in   heaven   who   is   the   Holy  Mother  of  God.”    "That  special  power  of  loving  that  belongs  to  a  woman  is  seen   most   clearly   when   she   becomes   a   mother.  Motherhood  is  the  gift  of  God  to  women.  How  grateful  we  must  be  to  God  for  this  wonderful  gift  that  brings  such  joy  to   the   whole   world,   women   and  men   alike!   Yet   we   can  destroy   this   gift   of  motherhood,   especially   by   the   evil   of  abortion,  but  also  by  thinking  that  other  things  like  jobs  or  positions   are   more   important   than   loving,   than   giving  oneself   to   others.   No   job,   no   plans,   no   possessions,   no  idea  of  "freedom"  can  take  the  place  of  love.  So  anything  that  destroys  God's  gift  of  motherhood  destroys  His  most  precious   gift   to   women-‐-‐   the   ability   to   love   as   a  woman."  ~  Mother   Theresa’s   Letter   to   the   Fourth  World  Conference  on  Women,  Beijing,  1995  ~
