Ofsted
• New Ofsted framework which focuses on how well schools and
colleges provide for pupils’ personal development.
• Framework looks at range of extra-curricular activities
• Also considers how well opportunities are taken up by pupils of
the school particularly for most disadvantaged students
• New criteria gives a great opportunity for Managers
to showcase the fantastic work, they and their participants are
doing

One of the first places the lead inspector checks when
checking a school is the school website in order to give
them an insight into the school. It would be great if they
could see DofE on the website nice and easily as a quick
identification that this school delivers the award.

Charlotte Castle – DofE Manager at Windsor Girls’
School
“One of the questions asked in my Head of Year interview
was “what set of skills had I developed in my role as DofE
Manager which would be beneficial to the HoY role”.”
• People Management skills
• Organisational skills
• Communication skills

DofE Difference in Action
“Overall, the skills I gained from being a DofE
manager were a huge contribution to being
successful in securing the HoY role. It
demonstrated leadership skills as I was
overseeing the programme across the whole
school which included managing a team of 15
staff volunteers. It showed that I had good time
management skills and could meet deadlines
which again is imperative in the HoY role.
Moreover, it demonstrated to the Senior
Leadership Team that I could be trusted to lead
a group of staff and students in a school setting
in an important area of the school.”
