    2:

    Both Pakistan and Israel were created on religious grounds;

Pakistan in 1947 a homeland for Muslims of the Indian subcontinent and

Israel in 1948 a homeland for Jews. Significant portion of the Muslim

world does not recognize Israel as a legitimate state. Egypt and Jordanare the only Arab states, so far, which have sign peace treaties with

Israel. On the other hand, Turkey was the first Muslim-majority nation

to formally recognize the State of Israel (March 28, 1949). If these

countries can recognize Israel, what prevents Pakistan to do the same?

    Why should Pakistan recognize Israel?

Here are some Pros, why Pakistan should recognize Israel:

y Recognize Israel may lead to better access to westerntechnology, particularly the ultra-modern and superior military

    technology the Israeli

    military possess and

    develops. Access to high-

    tech gadgets and military

    hardware. If we look at

Turkey, Turkey's relationship with Israel has allowed Turkey toalso have great access to modern military equipment and

technology, which has provided Turkey a great modern edge in

    its military power.

y Recognizing and establishing better ties with Israel, mayrealistically throw a wrench in the "Indo-Israel" axis which has

underlying Anti-Pakistani objectives. If Israel sees a friendly

Pakistan, Israel may not feel threaten by Pakistan and may also

end any aggression against Pakistan through MOSSAD. Itwould help to remove the underlying anti-Pakistani objectives

    of the Indo-Israeli axis.

y Possibly better economic ties, Pakistan will most likely haveaccess to better consumer goods, products, more trade, and

possibly give Pakistan more markets to export.

y A move such as this may give Pakistan less to worry about inregards to its national security that Israel poses. Then again new

security challenges may arise from such a move.

y US may feel more comfortable about Pakistan and may alsoprovide Pakistan better technology to reward Pakistan for such

    a move.

Why Pakistan should not recognize Israel?

Here are some negative points of recognizing Israel:

y Pakistan would be hated by many Muslim countries specificallyArab countries. Pakistan

would be seen as a traitor

    to the Muslim World

    which is dedicated to

    liberating Islam's third

Holiest site in Jerusalem, The Dome of the Rock.

y Pakistan would also be seen as a target by Arab countries andmilitants who would perhaps begin a wave of attacks onPakistan for its "betrayal". Pakistan's name will be defamed in

    the Muslim world.

y The conservatives and many Muslims in Pakistan would bestunned, and many demonstrations, many potential violent

riots may break out in Pakistan. This may cause a major

    economic, political, social disruption.

yThis is a major risk, it may take many years or decades afterrecognition for Pakistan to benefit from the relationship with

Israel. Unless agreements are signed, and cordial diplomatic

    ties are maintained.

y Pakistani embassies in Arab countries may come under firefrom outraged crowds and disenchanted youth.

    4:

y Recognition of Israel may lead to economic boycotts ofPakistani products in Middle East or other Muslim countries.

    Conclusion:

Well I think Pakistan should recognize Israel, because recognizing

a state does not mean, that we are approving its

policies. Intact, it can be very useful for altering

its policies. Israel is not as bad as people think.

Israeli citizens were among the victims of the

ruthless butchery of the Mumbai attacks. Israel

could have very easily attacked Pakistan, when

India was blaming Pakistan for the attacks. Yet it did not. The Israeli

government was really cautious and restrained in blaming any country

for these attacks. So this is a very positive sign from Israels side. We can

change someones attitude in a better way as a friend than as an enemy.
