What is Quality of Life (QOL)?

The term “quality of life” is used to indicate the general well-being of people and societies.

Wealth and employment

Wealth in general is regarded as an overall well being.

Employment is directly related to earning wealth.

Environment

Good environment first point to pollution free environment.

Good environment to live in.Good working environment.

Physical and mental health

Good physical health means NO DISEASEHealthy people.

Good mental health means a good state of mind.

Better mental state can help better creation, productive thoughts etc..

Education

Education is the basic requirement for QOL.Education creates awareness.It provides the sense of judgment for “what

is wrong and what is right!”Overall for every factors to improve QOL like

health, environment etc. education is vital.

Recreation

It about utilizing the leisure time in a productive way.

Recreation can be done through educational movies that can help to improve QOL.

Social well-being

Making good relation in the societySharing your thoughtsHelping out in productive or some social

causes like cleaning resident areas, sport events, blood donation program etc

Freedom/Human rights

Freedom is an essential term to make good state of mental health.

Freedom and human rights are some what related so fulfilling human rights can get to acquire freedom.

Happiness

Happiness is a cumulative figure of many factors we have discussed earlier.

Employment, health, education, recreation, rights, freedom etc..

Why policies to be aimed to improve Quality of Life?

It acts as a measuring tool for development..e.g. HDI (human development index)QOL factors are the measuring tools for HDI

Sustainable development can be achieved if policies are made considering to improve the Quality of Life.
