What is a shot-reverse-shot?

◦ A technique where one character is shown to be looking at another character.

Then the other character is shown to be looking back at the first character.

◦ Since the characters are shown facing in opposite directions, it will become

apparent that they are looking at one another.

◦ It is usually used between long scenes of dialogue between characters to create a

relationship between the two of them and also maintain continuity within the

scene.

What is graphic match?

◦ Graphic match is cut in editing between either two different objects, spaces or

compositions in video in which an object in the two shots match graphically (look

the same or similar).

◦ This helps the audience to understand a strong continuity of action and linking

the two shots together in a metaphorical manner.

◦ This cut is usually used in order to create a relationship between two things by

making them similar/identical.
