Victaulic Company85+ years of Innovation

• Founded on innovation and new product development• British War Department sought faster way to join pipe

in Word War 1– Rapid deployment of water and fuel to front lines

• VICTAULIC company name– “VICTory Joint” for use on hydrAULICS

Victaulic Today• 4,000 Employees

• Privately held• Global manufacturing

– North America, Europe, Asia• 3,000 points of distribution

worldwide

Anatomy of a GrooveThe grooved method assemblyinvolves three basic concepts:

– A pressure-responsive gasket that creates a leak-tight seal

– Couplings that hold the pipe together and;

– Bolts and nuts that secure the couplings to the pipe.

Gasket– C-shaped design– EPDM (ethylene propylene

diene monomer) for water (to +110°C)

– Nitrile compound gasket for oil services (to +82°C).

Rigid vs. Flexible Couplings•Rigid coupling :

– Similar with welding or flanging

• Flexible coupling : – Flat bolt pads provide

flexible joint– Provides effective stress

relief, vibration attenuation

Why Use Victaulic on your ships?

• Reduce total installed costs• Drastically reduce fabrication time• Faster installation• Easier on-board installation and maintenance with less

space required• 58% reduction in weight compared to flanged• Improve safety by eliminating costly fire watch and

hazardous flames• Greater working pressures than other joining methods• Improved inventory control
