INTRODUCTIONFor decades, Shimano has been well known for our high quality reels. Anglers have come to expect that all our reels are produced to the highest standard and offers long-lasting enjoyment. Because of this, Shimano constantly innovate our products to deliver the best reels in the market.

As we step into this new decade, we have spared no effort in showcasing to you the fruits of our passion. Our objective is to challenge the angler’s perception of what is possible and to create the reel of their dream.

The perfect angling experience is a combination of sight, smell, sound and feel. See the vast ocean, smell the salt of the sea, hear the drag and feel of reel. Our engineers are pleased to help satisfy the last two elements with the NEW OCEA JIGGER. Re-designed with a more compact body, this jigger is more ergonomic than its predecessor. A new design drag provides an exciting whirr which only anglers will appreciate!

Another challenge we set out to do was to push the limits of angler expectation. We began to introduce technology normally reserved for our Stella. The new Twinpower now features the X-ship system with a new designed crank that represents a new breakthrough in fishing reel design. We began to incorporate more use of the CI4 material into some new reels, notably Thunnus CI4.

Rod development is also entering a particularly exciting phase. Following feedback from our anglers in the region, we introduced some new series, namely the Lurematic and Cruzer rods. Our Lurematic rods are medium heavy to heavy action to cater to the fishing style of our region. The Cruzar rods are made from heavy-duty glass material to increase durability without additional cost. The Cruzar will also be the most affordable rod in our stable

SWOutstanding!! That’s just how the AR-C spool performs. The spool with its radical lip design has specially been engineered to allow supreme distance casting with minimal wind knots. The multiple taper of the spool lip has been precisely calculated to ensure that there is virtually no line slap when the line flies off following the contours of the spool lip.The multiple taper also prevents lines from springing loose even when the spool is well filled, reducing the chances of wind knots.

Cold Forged Gears have higher molecular density and the metal grain structures are forged to follow along contours of the gear tooth. As the longitudinal grain structure is kept intact, the gear is structurally stronger and durability is improved substantially. Add to that the special barrier gear coating that decreases friction and increase durability and gear efficiency by up to 50%, this gear system is nothing short of extraordinary.

Inside the heart of AR-C spool lies the high density drag washers. Unlike other conventional washers, these washers have more drag fibers per square inch inbuilt into them. The result? Smoother, stronger and more consistent drag capabilities with excellent heat dissipation and less wear.

The Hyper Disc Drag and Hyper Twin Disc Drag systems are A-RB supported waterproof drag systems that consists of multi-layer drag stacks utilizing the latest carbon fiber drag material. This material has virtually no start up inertia and maintains drag consistency throughout the different drag ranges. The Hyper Twin Disc Drag that is found on the bigger SWs, consists of additional oversized drag washers on the underside of the spool skirt as well. This gives an even higher usable max drag output; whilst maintaining long term reliability with virtually no drag fade. With these new drag systems, lines breakage due to drag spikes are eliminated.

The oversized line roller not only dissipates heat more quickly, but it also allows for extra heavy duty wind-on leaders to be wound directly onto the reel without catching onto the bail arm. This roller is secured in place by primary and secondary locking screws to ensure that the roller never works itself loose. The one piece bail arm allows for a smoother flow of the line to line roller eliminating line entanglement.

Overall weight of the Stella SW reels are now lighter than previous Stella FA reels to reduce fatigue for anglers during Popping or Jigging. Coupled with other improvements like Lightweight Alloy construction, AR-C Titanium Lip spool, & Paladin Gears results in a potent reel for serious heavy Saltwater fishing.

New Rarenium spinning reels is the latest model to join the CI-4 family.

CI4 stands for “Carbon Interfusion” with the “4” referring to the number of electrons in the Carbon atom. Ultimately, this means CI4 is reinforced Carbon Fiber.It is over one and a half times stronger than our normal XT-7 graphite and is over 20% lighter. Because it does not contain metal, it is impervious to rust.So, as a result of its strength and weight, we can create an extremely lightweight reel with very precise tolerances. Stella SW features the long casting ARC spool lip that releases the line effortlessly throughout the cast; superior distances are assured every time. This casting distance is further enhanced by the Aerowrap line laying that is essential when using PE lines. The new topless oversized line roller design accommodates even very heavy wind-on leaders and connecting knots.

Add to this, the one piece bail wire sits on a chrome alloy bail arm that resists line cuts. This oversized line roller is secured to the bail arm via a primary and secondary locking system to completely eliminate the possibility of working loose due to boat vibrations. Best of all, the new Stellas are now even lighter than its predecessors, allowing you to fish harder and longer with minimal fatigue.

Inside the heart of AR-C spool lies the high density drag washers. Unlike other conventional washers, these washers have more drag fibers per square inch inbuilt into them. The result? Smoother, stronger and more consistent drag capabilities with excellent heat dissipation and increased wear resistance.

Outstanding!! That’s just how the AR-C spool performs. The spool with its radical lip design has specially been engineered to allow supreme distance casting with minimal wind knots. The multiple taper of the spool lip has been precisely calculated to ensure that there is virtually no line slap when the line flies off following the contours of the spool lip. The multiple taper also prevents lines from springing loose even when the spool is well filled, reducing the chances of wind knots.

Cold Forged Gears have higher molecular density and the metal grain structures are forged to follow along contours of the gear tooth. As the longitudinal grain structure is kept intact, the gear is structurally stronger and durability is improved substantially. Add to that the new special barrier gear coating that decreases friction and increase durability and gear efficiency by up to 50%, this gear system is nothing short of extraordinary.

The oversized line roller not only dissipates heat more quickly, but it also allows for extra heavy duty wind-on leaders to be wound directly onto the reel without catching onto the bail arm. This roller is secured in place by primary and secondary locking screws to ensure that the roller never works itself loose. The one piece bail arm allows for a smoother flow of the line to line roller eliminating line entanglement.

The Hyper Disc Drag and Hyper Twin Disc Drag systems are A-RB supported waterproof drag systems that consists of multi-layer drag stacks utilizing the latest carbon fiber drag material. This new material has virtually no start up inertia and maintains drag consistency throughout the different drag ranges. The Hyper Twin Disc Drag that is found on the bigger SWs, consists of additional oversized drag washers on the underside of the spool skirt as well. This gives an even higher usable max drag output; whilst maintaining long term reliability with virtually no drag fade. With these new drag systems, lines breakage due to drag spikes are eliminated.

There are 4 models, each with 8 stages, making the total of 32 different patterns of braking capability for different fishing conditions.

L - It is for the excellent casting of metal lures like the spoon, spinner jigs and metal jigs etc. Ideally used for distance under the conditions where tail wind is present. The biggest energy immediately after the cast is fully utilized to the extreme, with maximum rpm being raised.

M - For lures with multi or shifting points of centre of gravity and where there is little vibration by the lure when it is in its trajectory state during the cast. This mode will stop overrun immediately after the cast via the circuit board to extend the casting distance.

A - To get optimum accuracy to cast via pitching method etc. It brakes throughout the cast and it is used for short but accurate distance casting. It is ideal for pitching to cover in snaggy conditions and especially useful when matched with a glass rod where the reel will compensate for accuracy over the glass rod.

W - In a head wind when the lure speed is severely affected by the wind, this mode cuts down backlash in this condition to give extended casting distance.

The new lightweight Metanium MG/MG7 adopts the sophisticated features used by many of Shimano’s high end reels. New features such as the SA-RB and escape hatch are incorporated into this reel. The SA-RB features 8/1 Sealed A-RB for the extra protection against any possible intrusion from saltwater or any other elements.

The Cardiff is the essence of what a round reel should be: strong, responsive and easy to use. The Cardiff is built with a die cast aluminium frame and a machined aluminium spool for strength. Shimano Dendoumaru 4000 PLAYS is the new addition to the electric reel series. Frame construction is made of Aluminum to withstand flexing when under extreme load. With a new motor, maximum winding speed is 160 metre per minute and fast winding speed could be achieved with this new motor. For a 3kg fish, winding up speed is 120 metre per minute while a 1 kg fish winding up speed is 131 metre per minute. Maximum winding up payload is 48kg. Maximum drag force is similar to previous Dendoumaru 4000HP model at 15kg. With host of other standard pre program features, the Dendoumaru 4000PLAYS series is the ideal reel for the deep water angler.

Based on the ever popular Dendoumaru 4000HP model, this new model has higher specs & features to satisfy the discerning deep sea angler. New Dendoumaru Beastmaster reel have improve winding force of 54kg (525N) & a faster retrieve speed of 180metres per minute. Maximum drag force was beef up to 20kg for better fish fights.

In fact, this reel is one of the most powerful in the Shimano Electric reels category. With this improved features drive gear was redesigned to be thicker & bigger in order to withstand this additional force. A more powerful high endurance motor was employed & an all Aluminum diecast frame was used so that heat could be dissipated effectively.

The fast winding button was replaced with 3 buttons for easy speed adjustment during fish fights. Finally, handle assembly was also improved with the use of Tiagra style Septon handle knob for the final battle with the beast. With all these improvements, the Dendoumaru Beastmaster 4000 is a reel to be reckoned with.

Fly-lining live baits. Catching big fish on small leverdrags. Common sense says that this is an oxymoron. Star Drags are better casters by nature. They have lighter spools because the drags are in the gears, not the spool. Lever Drags tend to have more power in the drag system because their washers are so much larger.

With Talica 2-Speeds we set out to break the mold. We wanted to make a 2-Speed Leverdrag that could underhand a sardine 40 feet to the chum line with ease. We also wanted to increase the fishable drag capabilities of a small diameter reel to fish with heavy PowerPro and short Fluorocarbon top shots that anglers are using to land huge fish.

This light tip action also gives some flex allowance that is required when using braided lines. This keeps tension on the fish at all times, yet absorbs all the shock on a jumping fish; making thrown hooks and busted lines a thing of the past. The Bassterra XT comes with Fuji Silicon Carbide guides, Fuji VSS/ACS reelseats and a spiral guide concept system for the B60M baitcasting model. Light and powerful, the Bassterra exhibits the characteristics of what an ideal bass rod should be like. Cross Carbon Tape on the rod. increases strength during different angles of flex. Designed with high line poundage capabilities and ergonomic full-cork grip, be assured of a better grip during rugged fish fights. In addition, double wrapped SiC Guides allows silky smooth travel of the line through the guides. The Bassterra also comes with Fuji Reel Seats for a secure attachment of reel to rod.

The Stinger Butterfly Whirligig is as what its name implies; a jig that whirls around in a circular motion when you jig it. An ingenious offset cut gives this jig the action

identical to an injured baitfish in its death spiral. It is a particular deadly jig to use when there are schools of baitfish with bigger predators around that are picking on the stray and injured fish.

The Stinger Butterfly Centrevortex is a centre weighted jig that has a tighter and less erratic motion. It is perfect for instances whereby the target fish is chasing and

attacking loose and fast swimming baitfish. A long stroke jigging style will bring out the most in this jig as it would entice the fish to strike by triggering it predatorial chase instincts.

The Stinger Butterfly Slidend has a most exaggerated swim action. Every single flick of the rod would see the Slideend dart sharply to the left and right. This jig is a

OCEA Pencil Introducing the new OCEA Pencil Poppers from Shimano. This series of Big Game poppers have been designed to tackle the large saltwater brutes such as GTs, large Mahi

Mahi, tuna and Sailfish. Aerodynamic bodies give these lures superior casting abilities while lifelike appearance attracts fish like no other. A through wire construction with a tensile load capability of above 100kg gives you the assurance everytime you have a monster on the other end of the line. Available in floating or sinking variants, the Pencil is ideal even for very rough waters when a conventional chugger cannot be easily seen by the fish; or for situations when the fish are extrememly spooky and wary of conventional poppers. Popping Bait The Shimano popping bait is a hybrid between a conventional Chugger and a Pencil Popper. This neutrally buoyant lure is extremely easy to cast due to its profile and

weight distribution. In the water, it can be worked either on or below the surface to target all manner of fish due to its neutral buoyancy. A consistent retrieve rate will see the popping bait create an enticing bubble trail close to the surface; while a twitch and stop walk the dog retrieve will see the lure skip on the surface yet sink back in to create an enticing and erratic bubble trail. The vesatility of this lure has made it capable of carrying out multiple styles of popping so that you can find tune the technique to suit what the fisher’s preferences are during that session.

PowerPro’s unique composition of EBT resulted in a line that is:

Older, first-generation superlines were made of abrasive aramids that could cut rod guides and take a toll on equipment. PowerPro solves these problems through super slick, non-abrasive Spectra Fiber composition and unique EBT processing. Other complaints about superlines arose simply because the technology was so new, and few people knew how to take proper advantage of it. 72 PowerPro

In addition to enhancing your enjoyment and increasing your catch, PowerPro slightly changes the way you set up for a day of fishing. PowerPro works great with any kind of reel, so you don’t need any special equipment. Still, switching from mono to Powerpro is like trading your fly swatter in for a two-by-four: it takes a little care to get used to all that extra power!

Spooling upUnlike monofilament, PowerPro will not stretch on the reel and cling to the barrel. This can result in line sliding around the barrel, which can seem like a problem with your drag mechanism. Rest assured, your equipment is fine. To avoid slippage, attach PowerPro to your spool using one of these methods: 1) If your reel has a hole or knob on the barrel, use it. 2) Leave at least 5 to 10 yards of monofilament on the reel (enough to cover the bottom of the spool) before attaching PowerPro with a Uni to Uni splice. 3) Put a piece of arbor tape on the barrel before attaching PowerPro.

Setting the hookAnglers on Saturday morning TV shows often set the hook in bass like Samurai warriors beheading the enemy. This may be a fine technique with monofilament line, but PowerPro doesn’t require such a violent motion. When you get a strike, relax; a gentle snap of your wrist will set the hook. Because PowerPro doesn’t stretch like nylon lines, you won’t get that rubber-band effect. Every inch you move your rod tip equals an inch of movement at the lure.

Setting your dragPowerPro lines are so small for their strength that you may be tempted to set your drag higher than normal, but remember, your rod or reel may not be designed to handle the same unbelievable loads as your line. To make full use of PowerPro’s amazing sensitivity without risking damage to your equipment, try one of the following tips: 1) Set your drag to match the weakest component in your tackle system. 2) Set your drag to match the size of mono line you would normally use. 3) When using ultralight equipment or line (5- or 20-Ib. test) set your drag to no more than 1/3 of the line’s rated strength. You can check the drag with a fish scale. At lower drag settings, a little extra line may pay out at the hookset, compensating for PowerPro’s lack of stretch.

Fishing with spinning reelsFor optimal PowerPro performance on your spinning reel, we recommend closing the bail manually. While your bait is falling, pull on the line to make sure it is seated firmly on the reel, then begin your retrieve.

Cutting PowerProPowerPro is extremely strong, and nail clippers won’t cut it. We recommend sharp scissors such as fiskars® for kids, which are inexpensive, easy to find, and have blunt ends to protect your pockets. Or use the cutter on the EZ Spool Pak.

Coloring PowerProSpectra Fiber is an especially dense material that cannot be permanently dyed. The color simply encapsulates the line and will wear away with time. This is normal and does not effect the strength or performance of the line. To re-color your PowerPro line, simply use a permanent magic marker in whatever shade you prefer.

Retie your lineAlthough PowerPro is extremely strong, it isn’t indestructible. If the line starts to look frayed, especially after fishing around structure, it’s probably time to cut off the worn section and retie. This way your line will always perform at rated strength.

Repack your lineIf your line starts to feel soft or mushy on the reel, especially when fishing with light baits, you should repack your reel. Make an extra long cast or let the line out behind your boat, then reel it in while holding the line taut with your fingers. This will improve casting performance and keep the line from “digging in” after a solid strike.

Using a monofilament leaderAttaching a monofilament leader to your PowerPro line may prove useful in the following situations: 1) When bait or jig fishing requires extra finesse, especially in clear water, use a 3-foot monofilament leader to cut down on line visibility. 2) When fishing for species that strike hard and fast, use a monofilament shock tippet. For close-in situations such as bait fishing, try a 3- to 10-foot tippet. For big game applications, you may want to use up to 100 yards or more.

Loop the tag end of the mono around both lines, then pass the tag end through your loop 5 to 6 more times. Pull the tag end to tighten the knot, making sure the wraps snug down neatly.3. Repeat step #2 using the PowerPro tag end, but use 8 to 10 wraps.4. Pull on the standing lines to jam the two knots together tightly.5. Trim the PowerPro tag end about 1/8” past the knot. Trim the mono tag end as close to the knot as possible.

Wrap the PowerPro around the mono 10 to 12 times, leaving your loop open and opposite the mono tag end.2. Pass the mono tag end through the PowerPro loop.3. Pull on both lines to tighten the knot, jamming the wraps together.4. Tie a Lock (see right).

Pass this through the mono loop.2. Wrap the PowerPro loosely around the finger tip of the hand you’re using to hold the mono, then wrap the PowerPro around itself and the mono 20 to 25 times. Work toward the end of the loop, keeping your wraps tight and snug.3. Run the PowerPro back through the mono loop so it exits on the same side it entered.

GlossaryThe Saltwater Barrier Gear System is an upgrade from the already proven Barrier Gear System. Built even tougher out of a new alloy that has been coated with Shimano’s propriety Barrier Gear Coating, the gear not only lasts longer but stays smoother throughout the lifespan of the reel. The SW Barrier Gears are all cold forged with the grains of the metal lying adjacent to the gear teeth. This improves strength, durability and cranking power over other conventional gear systems.

Paladin Gear Durability Enhancement Spinning Using a special cold forged aluminum drive gear and a hardened brass pinion gear (Stainless Steel pinion gear on Stella SW), reels equipped with the Paladin Gear Durability Enhancement will retain their out-of-the-box smoothness much longer than before. In fact, testing has shown that this combination of metals is more durable than an all-stainless steel drivetrain while maintaining the smoothness that Shimano is famous for.

HEG consists of not only the gears, but also the frame, setplate, and handle-side sideplate. First we increased the size of the drive gear and the pinion gear to offer increased leverage and power. By using a one-piece frame that incorporates the setplate and adding a one-piece stamped sideplate, we have eliminated flex in the drivetrain that causes normal gears to bind under pressure. By eliminating the flex and increasing the leverage, we are able to provide high-speed retrieves and deliver an incredible amount of torque, while maintaining the smooth, silent retrieve Shimano reels are famous for.

The new one piece bail system uses a solid one piece stainless alloy bail arm to transfer the line seamlessly onto the roller. The solid bail arm wire is extremely resistant to deformation and will not collapse easily. Without any joints in the bail wire, there is absolutely no risk for PE line to catch onto and fray.

The Easy Maintenance Port makes servicing the reel a breeze. No longer is it a hassle and a necessity to strip the whole reel to do a service. The Oil/Grease port allows you to maintain your reel even on the field without the need for you to strip and risk loosing reel parts.

Aerowrap is a oscillation system that lays the line at different oscillation speeds to optimize line lay as well as increase the casting distance. Aerowarp reduces line to line friction when the line is flying off the spool. It also allows for both nylon and PE line to sit tightly and evenly to eliminate the top layers of line from cutting into the layers beneath.

S A-RB are A-RB bearings that are sealed to protect against wear and tear from external contaminants.

Shimano proprietary process in which bearings are made 10 times more corrosion resistant than ordinary bearings.

Cold Forged Aluminium spool. Cold forging produces a spool with vastly superior mechanical properties due to the ability to control the direction of the aluminium grain structure. It also results in a better surface finish which is less prone to corrosion.

The spool with its radical lip design has specially been engineered to allow supreme distance casting with minimal wind knots. The multiple taper of the spool lip has been precisely calculated to ensure that there is virtually no line slap when the line flies off following the contours of the spool lip. The multiple taper also prevents lines from springing loose even when the spool is well filled, greatly reducing the chances of wind knots.

Improved design of our specially engineered AR-C spool to be of lighter weight.

CI4 stands for Carbon Interfusion with the 4 referring to the number of electrons in the Carbon atom. Ultimately, this means CI4 is reinforced Carbon Fiber. It is over one and a half times stronger than our normal XT-7 graphite and is over 20% lighter. Because it does not contain metal, it is impervious to rust. So, as a result of its strength and weight, we can create an extremely lightweight reel with very precise tolerances.

Power AL Reel housing is made from extremely strong material which is durable and made to precise tolerance.

X Ship gear system utilizes a extra big drive gear together with new support points for the Pinion gear. This new system resulted in 60% reduction in rotating resistance which translates to light & strong cranking power.

Anti- Corrosion surface treatment which is over 2 times better corrosive resistance over other surfaces.

Varispeed uses two specially designed gears and an oscillating slider to vary the line lay during retrieve. On the downstroke of the shaft, the line is laid parallel to each other, while on the upstroke, it is laid at an angle. This line laying system ensure that each layer of line does not cut into previous layers of line. It also improves casting distance due to less effort needed for the line to come off the reel when they are laid parallel to each other.

A variable braking system athat allows you to control the amount of drag applied to the spool during a cast inorder to achieved the best trajectory to prevent backlash.

4X4 Variable brake system allows the angler to adjust up to 16 different levels of braking force to maximise casting distance and reduce backlash

Shimano Variable Brake System allows you to easily adjust the amount of centrifugal braking that is applied to the spool via adjustable collars. This allows for backlash control to give trouble free casting for all levels of users.

For breakage repairs, a nominal replacement cost will be charged based on the following rod types: - Single Piece Rod: 40% of the complete rod SRP· - Multi Piece Rod: 25% of the complete rod SRP for single section breakage, 40% of the complete rod SRP for two or more section breakages
