Welcome to our Spring brochure and let us help you dust off the post-Christmas blues and look forward to a season packed full of inspiring theatre! Following a wonderful Autumn spent celebrating our 40th Anniversary we are beginning an exciting new chapter in our journey with the arrival of our new Artistic Director Rachel O’Riordan, who joins the team in February.
But before her arrival we’ve all been getting the Spring season ready. Whether you are interested in classic drama, hip hop theatre or contemporary dance we pride ourselves on the variety and depth of performances available to you.
We are particularly excited to be hosting this year’s National Theatre Connections Festival, a UK-wide initiative celebrating the best in new writing while also providing a platform for talented young performers. This season will also see the premiere of Dafydd James’ new play Fe Ddaw’r Byd I Ben a black comedy about the trials and misfortunes of a West Walian family, expect quite a few laughs and potentially the end of the world.
For the little ones this season we have the timeless children’s classic Not Now Bernard, as well as the magical adventure that is Maudie’s Rooms set in a secret location in Cardiff! But that’s not all, if you’re struggling for things to do to keep them occupied over half term, we’ll be offering workshops of all shapes and sizes from arts and crafts to film making so come along and join in the fun!
Croeso i raglen y Gwanwyn a gadewch i ni eich helpu i gael gwared ar y felan ar ôl y Nadolig ac edrych ymlaen at dymor yn llawn theatr ysbrydoledig! Ar ôl Hydref gwych yn dathlu ein pen-blwydd yn ddeugain, rydym yn dechrau ar bennod newydd yn ein hanes yn sgil penodiad ein Cyfarwyddwr Artistig newydd Rachel O’Riordan, sy’n ymuno â’r tîm ym mis Chwefror.
Ond cyn iddi gyrraedd yr ydym i gyd wedi bod yn brysur yn cael y tymor y Gwanwyn yn barod. P’un a ydych yn ymddiddori mewn drama glasurol, theatr hip hop neu ddawns gyfoes, rydym yn ymfalchïo yn amrywiaeth a dyfnder y perfformiadau sydd ar gael i chi.
Rydym yn arbennig o gyffrous ynghylch y ffaith ein bod yn croesawu Gŵyl National Theatre Connections eleni, menter ledled y Deyrnas Unedig sy’n dathlu’r ysgrifennu newydd gorau ac sydd hefyd yn darparu llwyfan i berfformwyr ifanc dawnus. Y tymor hwn hefyd byddwn yn llwyfannu perfformiad cyntaf drama newydd Dafydd James Fe Ddaw’r Byd I Ben, sef comedi dywyll am helbulon teulu o Orllewin Cymru. Gallwch ddisgwyl ychydig o hwyl ac, o bosibl, ddiwedd y byd.
I’r plantos y tymor hwn mae gennym y stori glasurol Not Now Bernard, yn ogystal ag antur hudolus Maudie’s Rooms a gynhelir mewn lleoliad cyfrinachol yng Nghaerdydd! Ond nid dyna’r cyfan. Os ydych yn chwilio am bethau i’w diddori dros hanner tymor, byddwn yn cynnig gweithdai o bob lliw a llun o gelf a chrefft i wneud ffilmiau, felly dewch draw ac ymunwch yn yr hwyl!
WELCOME CROESO

A new Artistic Director will not be the only exciting change in the new year, we also have two very special projects we are delighted to announce that will hugely benefit the theatre.
Paul Hamlyn Club
As part of its ongoing 25th anniversary celebrations, Paul Hamlyn Foundation has selected Sherman Cymru as one of five organisations in the UK to receive considerable support for a five year project to widen our audience base, with a particular focus on building sustainable relationships with community partners.
Over the five years of the award, our new team member Guy O’Donnell will work closely with local community groups to develop new and exciting ways that we can engage with our audiences.
Nid Cyfarwyddwr Artistig newydd fydd yr unig newid cyffrous yn y flwyddyn newydd. Mae gennym hefyd ddau brosiect arbennig iawn yr ydym yn falch iawn o’u cyhoeddi a fydd o fudd mawr i’r theatr.
Clwb Paul Hamlyn
Fel rhan o ddathliadau parhaus ei ben-blwydd yn 25 oed, mae Sefydliad Paul Hamlyn wedi dewis Sherman Cymru fel un o bum sefydliad yn y Deyrnas Unedig i dderbyn cymorth sylweddol ar gyfer prosiect pum mlynedd i ehangu ein cynulleidfaoedd, gyda ffocws penodol ar greu cysylltiadau cynaliadwy gyda phartneriaid cymunedol.
Dros y pum mlynedd, bydd aelod newydd o’n tîm Guy O’Donnell yn gweithio’n agos gyda grwpiau cymunedol lleol i ddatblygu ffyrdd newydd a chyffrous o ymgysylltu â’n cynulleidfaoedd.

As this is a time of lots of exciting changes this brochure will only take us up until Easter, so keep an eye out for our Summer brochure in the coming months. Here’s a little taster of some of the productions on their way:
Gan fod hwn yn gyfnod lle ceir llawer o newidiadau cyffrous, mifydd y rhaglen yma yn parhau tan y Pasg felly cadwch eich llygaid ar agor am lyfryn yr Haf yn ystod y misoedd nesaf. Dyma ragflas o rai o’r cynyrchiadau i ddod:
Please Turn On Your Mobile PhonesTaikabox
Imagine arriving at the Theatre to see a show. Normally you would be asked to turn off your mobile phone and sit quietly in the dark. Tonight, though, is different…
Dychmygwch gyrraedd y Theatr i weld sioe. Fel arfer byddai gofyn i chi ddiffodd eich ffôn symudol ac eistedd yn dawel yn y tywyllwch. Mae heno, fodd bynnag, yn wahanol...

A gripping and tender tale of a teenage girl who moves out of her family home to share a tent with her listless boyfriend on the Swansea seafront.
Stori afaelgar a thyner am ferch yn ei harddegau sy’n symud allan o’i chartref i rannu pabell gyda’i chariad di-ffrwt ar lan y môr yn Abertawe.
Crowds and PowerSherman Cymru Youth Theatre
Our Youth Theatre explores the dynamics of crowds and “packs” and question how and why crowds obey rulers.
Mae ein Theatr Ieuenctid yn ymchwilio i ddynameg torfeydd a “heidiau” ac yn cwestiynu pam mae torfeydd yn ufuddhau i’r rhai sy’n eu rheoli.

Y Gronfa Loteri Fawr
Rydym yn falch iawn o ddweud bod y Gronfa Loteri Fawr wedi rhoi grant hael i Sherman Cymru er mwyn datblygu ein rhaglen Dysgu Creadigol ac ymgysylltu â phobl ifanc a chymunedau mewn ardaloedd difreintiedig yng Nghaerdydd a De Cymru.

Christopher has been detained under the Mental Health Act as a section 2. He is due to be released. His 28 days are up.
Set in the heart of a failing NHS, two experts come head to head to decide on the fate of a young man who could well be the illegitimate son of an African dictator.
But is the Orange actually blue?
A darkly funny contemporary drama that throws race, mental health, and institutional politics into the melting pot with startling and surprising consequences.
Mae Christopher wedi cael ei gadw o dan y Ddeddf Iechyd Meddwl fel claf adran 2. Mae ar fin cael ei ryddhau. Mae ei 28 diwrnod ar ben.
Mewn drama sydd wedi’i lleoli wrth galon GIG ffaeledig, daw dau ddoctor ynghyd i benderfynu ar ffawd dyn ifanc a allai o bosibl fod yn fab anghyfreithlon i unben Affricanaidd.
Ydy’r Oren yn las?
Drama ddoniol, tywyll a chyfoes sy’n taflu hil, iechyd meddwl, a gwleidyddiaeth sefydliadol i’r pair gyda chanlyniadau ysgytwol a syfrdanol.

Jonzi D - Lyrikal Fearta: The Letter & Broken LineageThe pioneer of hip hop theatre presents an evening of live music, poetry, movement, politics and wit.
Jonzi D, the best known advocate of hip hop theatre in the UK and Artistic Director of Breakin Convention, presents a triple bill. Co-directed by Dawn Walton, The Letter explores the responses to Jonzi being offered an MBE, using Jonzi’s own brand of choreopoetry to look at this sensitive subject matter through the eyes of an animated cast of characters.
The evening will also feature a newly commissioned piece, exploring the broken lineage between the old skool and new skool generations, bringing Jonzi’s unique perspective to evolving social issues. An exciting collaboration with Ivan Blackstock of BirdGang Dance Company, it promises to captivate audiences with Jonzi’s trademark wit, social insight and style.
Yr arloeswr theatr hip hop yn cyflwyno noson o gerddoriaeth fyw, barddoniaeth, symudiadau, gwleidyddiaeth a ffraethineb.
Mae Jonzi D, eiriolwr enwocaf theatr hip hop y DU a Chyfarwyddwr Artistig Breakin Convention, yn cyflwyno tair sioe. Mae The Letter yn ymchwilio i ymatebion i’r ffaith bod Jonzi wedi cael cynnig MBE, gan ddefnyddio brand unigryw Jonzi o goreofarddoniaeth i edrych ar y pwnc sensitif hwn drwy lygaid cast bywiog o gymeriadau.
Bydd y noson hefyd yn cynnwys darn newydd wedi ei gomisiynu, yn ymchwilio i fylchau mewn llinach rhwng y hen do a’r genhedlaeth newydd, gan ddod â phersbectif unigryw Jonzi i faterion cymdeithasol sy’n datblygu. Yn brosiect cydweithredol cyffrous gydag Ivan Blackstock o BirdGang Dance Company, ei nod yw swyno cynulleidfaoedd gyda ffraethineb, dealltwriaeth gymdeithasol a steil nodedig Jonzi.

National Dance Company Wales
National Dance Company Wales presents a triple bill of dynamic dance from world class choreographers and home-grown talent. Stephen Petronio’s latest work Water Stories, accompanied by original music from Grammy and Academy Award-winning composer Atticus Ross (The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo) was inspired by the abundant and magical waterscapes of Wales and features original visuals from Matthew Brandt.
Lee Johnston and lighting designer Joe Fletcher present They Seek To Find The Happiness They Seem, a duet using existing forms of choreography, lighting and costume design to explore dislocation and separation within a relationship. Stephen Shropshire’s thought-provoking Mythology is a mesmerising work complemented by Frederic Rzewski’s Coming Together, an avant-garde composition for piano, jazz ensemble and spoken word.
Mae Cwmni Dawns Cenedlaethol Cymru yn cyflwyno tair sioe ddawns ddeinamig gan goreograffwyr o safon fyd-eang a doniau lleol. Cafodd gwaith Stephen Petronio, Water Stories, a gaiff berfformio i gyfeiliant cerddoriaeth wreiddiol y cyfansoddwr Atticus Ross (The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo) sydd wedi ennill Gwobrau Grammy a’r Academi, ei ysbrydoli gan dirwedd dŵr toreithiog a hudolus Cymru ac mae’n cynnwys darnau gweledol gwreiddiol gan Matthew Brandt.
Mae Lee Johnston a’r dylunydd goleuo Joe Fletcher yn cyflwyno They Seek To Find The Happiness They Seem, deuawd sy’n defnyddio ffurfiau ar goreograffi, goleuo a dylunio gwisgoedd i ymchwilio i berthynas sy’n datgymalu ac yn gwahanu. Mae Mythology, gwaith Stephen Shropshire sy’n ysgogi’r meddwl, yn waith sy’n eich cyfareddu a chaiff ei ategu gan Coming Together gan Frederic Rzewski’s, cyfansoddiad avant-garde ar gyfer y piano, ensemble jazz a’r gair llafar.

BlodeuweddTheatr Genedlaethol Cymru
Mae Blodeuwedd yn anniddig, a Llew yn anfodlon. Er iddo drechu tynged ei fam, a chael gwraig wedi ei chreu o flodau, mae’n ysu o hyd am etifedd. Ac oherwydd ei natur wyllt, mae Blodeuwedd yn teimlo fel carcharor yn ei chartref ei hun. Pan syrthia Gronw Pebr mewn cariad â hi, daw cyfle o’r diwedd i ddianc... ond rhaid yn gyntaf lladd Llew.
Yn dilyn llwyddiant cynhyrchiad Theatr Genedlaethol Cymru o Blodeuwedd yn Nhomen y Mur, ger Trawsfynydd yn 2013, dyma gyfle arall i weld dehongliad oesol Saunders Lewis o’r hen, hen chwedl. Ac yntau’n cwblhau’r ddrama yn fuan wedi’r Ail Ryfel Byd, mae’n ein hatgoffa mai arf perygl yw natur yn nwylo dyn.
Blodeuwedd is frustrated, and Llew discontent. After overcoming his mother’s spell, by marrying a woman made of flowers, Llew is desperate for an heir. Blodeuwedd’s wild nature means she feels imprisoned in her own home. When Gronw Pebr falls in love with her, they realise an opportunity for escape... first, they must kill Llew.
Following the success of Theatr Genedlaethol Cymu’s production of Blodeuwedd at Tomen y Mur near Trawsfynydd in 2013, here’s another chance to see Saunders Lewis’ much revered interpretation of the old Welsh folk tale. Completing the work soon after the Second World War, Lewis reminds us that nature is a dangerous weapon in the hands of man.

Fe Ddaw’r Byd I Ben The World Will EndSherman Cymrucwmni richard burton, Coleg Brenhinol Cerdd a Drama Cymru The Richard Burton Company, Royal Welsh College of Music and Drama
Pan ddaw Sara adref ar ôl pum mlynedd o ddistawrwydd a chyhoeddi dydd y farn, mae ei Mam, Ethni, yn benderfynol o gynnal y swper ola.
Ond tra bod Sara’n disgwyl diwedd y byd, mae ei hefaill, Catrin, yn disgwyl babi; mae Mabli fach eisau bod yn lleuan ac mae Dadi yn y carton hufen ia yn y study.
Wrth i’r fferm ddadfeilio o’u hamgylch a’r amser penodedig agosáu, rhaid i deulu ar chwâl ailystyried y galar sydd wedi’u huno a’u hollti, a thrwy wynebu’r diwedd, ddechrau byw unwaith eto.
Datblygwyd y ddrama mewn cyd-weithrediad â Chwmni Richard Burton Coleg Brenhinol Cerdd a Drama Cymru; mi fydd Dafydd yn parhau i ddatblygu’r ddrama wedi’r perfformiadau yma.
When Sara returns home after five years of silence announcing judgement day, her Mother, Ethni, is determined to host the last supper.
But whilst Sara expects the end of the world, her twin, Catrin, is expecting a baby; little Mabli wants to be a nun and Dadi’s in the ice cream carton in the study.
As the farm falls to pieces around them and the rapture approaches, the family must confront the grief that has torn them apart, and through facing the end, begin to live once again.
Dafydd James’ darkly comic play has been developed in collaboration with the Royal Welsh College of Music and Drama’s Richard Burton Company and will be further developed after this performance.

RecallJoanna Young
The task is simple – recreate a piece from the past.
With a new cast of dancers, Recall sees Joanna Young return to Re-creating PenGwyn, an absorbing and critically acclaimed production she made in 2012. What changes, what disappears and what remains when you start again?
Four performers make their way through a shifting landscape. Sometimes a stage, or a zoo, sometimes a house, or the arctic. They transform from self to animal, from the subtle to the extreme.
Joanna Young’s work is delicate, intricately crafted and riveting to watch.
Mae’r gorchwyl yn syml - ail-greu darn o’r gorffennol.
Mae pedwar perfformiwr yn gweithio’u ffordd drwy dirwedd sy’n newid. Weithiau’n llwyfan, neu’n sw, weithiau’n dŷ, neu’r arctig. Maent yn trawsnewid eu hunain o fodau dynol i anifeiliaid, o’r cynnil i eithafion.
Gyda chast newydd o ddawnswyr, yn Recall mae Joanna Young yn dychwelyd at Re-creating PenGwyn, cynhyrchiad diddorol a grëwyd ganddi yn 2012 a gafodd ganmoliaeth frwd. Beth sy’n newid, beth sy’n diflannu a beth sy’n aros pan fyddwch yn ailddechrau?
Mae gwaith Joanna Young yn dyner, yn gywrain ac yn afaelgar.

Tim Crouch’s unique interpretations of Shakespeare’s classic plays A Midsummer Night’s Dream and The Tempest re-tell these famous stories from the fresh perspectives of characters usually consigned to the sidelines. Mixing contemporary language with the original text, this is Shakespeare as you’ve never seen it before.
I, Peaseblossom: The story of A Midsummer Night’s Dream as re-lived through the fevered nightmares of Shakespeare’s most neglected fairy. Funny and heartbreaking in equal measure.
I, Caliban: A sweet and sorry tale of injustice, inebriation and missing your mum, as told by Caliban, a puppyheaded monster alone on Prospero’s island at the end of The Tempest.
Mae dehongliad unigryw Tim Crouch o ddramâu clasurol Shakespeare, A Midsummer Night’s Dream a The Tempest, yn ailadrodd y storïau enwog hyn o bersbectif newydd ac ysgytwol weithiau drwy gymeriadau sydd fel arfer ar y cyrion. Gan gymysgu iaith fodern a’r testun gwreiddiol, dyma Shakespeare fel na gwelwyd erioed o’r blaen.
I, Peaseblossom: Stori A Midsummer Night’s Dream yn cael ei hail-fyw drwy hunllefau gwyllt tylwythen deg fwyaf di-nod Shakespeare. Yn gymysgedd cytbwys o’r doniol a’r torcalonnus.
I, Caliban: Chwedl annwyl a thrist o anghyfiawnder, meddwdod a cholli eich mam, yn cael ei hadrodd gan Caliban, bwystfil â phen ci bach sydd ar ei ben ei hun ar ynys Prospero ar ddiwedd The Tempest.

Mark Thomas: 100 Acts of Minor Dissent
Mark Thomas is well versed in the art of creative mayhem and over the years his troublemaking has changed laws, cost companies millions and annoyed those who most deserved to be. Now he returns to what he does best, mischief: joyously bad behaviour with a purpose.
After his award-winning show Bravo Figaro, Mark sets himself the task of committing 100 acts of minor dissent in the space of a year. Mark catalogues everything from the smallest and silliest gesture to the grandest confrontations and the results are subversive, hilarious, mainly legal and occasionally inspiring.
Mae Mark Thomas yn hen law ar greu anhrefn creadigol a thros y blynyddoedd mae ei hanes o godi stŵr wedi newid cyfreithiau, wedi costio miliynau i gwmnïau ac wedi cythruddo’r rhai sy’n haeddu hynny fwyaf. Nawr mae’n dychwelyd at yr hyn mae’n ei wneud orau, direidi: ymddygiad gorfoleddus o ddrwg ag iddo bwrpas.
Ar ôl ei sioe lwyddiannus Bravo Figaro, mae Mark wedi gosod tasg iddo’i hun, sef cyflawni 100 o fân weithredoedd anghydffurfiaeth mewn blwyddyn. Mae Mark yn cofnodi popeth o’r weithred leiaf a’r gwirionaf i achosion o wrthdaro mawr ac mae’r canlyniadau’n ddoniol iawn, yn arwain at danseilio awdurdod, yn gyfreithlon ar y cyfan ac ar brydiau’n ysbrydoledig.

It’s May Day, and a group of misfit children are specially chosen to close the day’s festivities; but as they gather together in uniform to rehearse the village anthem, all is not well. Tubbsy’s hiding a cat in his bag; Deirdre-May’s grieving her Nanna and Mark’s turned up as Stegosaurus.
As the rehearsal breaks down, they soon begin to suspect that they’ve been chosen for a far darker purpose...
Heritage is a blistering black comedy with music that explores the darker side of nationalism.
This Sherman Cymru Youth Theatre performance of their piece will then go on to be performed as part of the National Theatre Connections Festival.
Mae’n Ŵyl Fai, ac mae grŵp o blant cymysg wedi’u dewis yn arbennig i gau’r dathliadau; ond wrth iddynt ddod ynghyd i ymarfer anthem y pentref, nid yw popeth yn dda. Mae Tubbsy yn cuddio cath yn ei fag; mae Deirdre-May yn galaru ar ôl ei nain ac mae Mark wedi gwisgo fel Stegosaurus.
Wrth i’r ymarfer fynd ar chwâl, maent yn dechrau amau eu bod wedi cael eu dewis am reswm llawer mwy amheus...
Comedi ddu ddeifiol yw Heritage gyda cherddoriaeth sy’n ymchwilio i ochr ddu cenedlaetholdeb.
Bydd y darn hwn gan Theatr Ieuenctid Sherman Cymru yn cael ei berfformio wedyn fel rhan o’r Ŵyl National Theatre Connections.

NATIONAL THEATRE CONNECTIONS
Each year the National Theatre invites ten writers to create new plays for young people to perform. This spring 220 youth theatre companies will present the premieres of these plays in venues from Scotland to Cornwall and Northern Ireland to Norfolk.
Each company will also perform at one of 26 Connections festivals in professional theatres across the country, and ten companies will go on to perform at the National Theatre. Connections celebrates great new writing for the stage - and the energy, commitment and talent of young theatre-makers.
Come and see 11 local schools and youth theatres perform work written by Dafydd James, Luke Norris and Pauline McLynn among others.

Twelfth NightFilter Theatre in association with Royal Shakespeare Company
Two worlds collide in Filter’s explosive new take on Shakespeare’s lyrical Twelfth Night.
Olivia’s melancholic, puritanical household clashes head on with Sir Toby’s insatiable appetite for drunken debauchery. Orsino’s relentless pursuit of Olivia and Malvolio’s extraordinary transformation typify the madness of love in Illyria: land of make-believe and illusion.
This story of romance, satire and mistaken identity is crafted into one of the most exciting and accessible Shakespeare productions of recent years. Experience the madness of love in this heady world where riotous gig meets Shakespeare.
Nominated for Best Shakespearean Production - Whats Onstage Awards 2008
Dau fyd yn gwrthdaro yn nehongliad trawiadol newydd Filter o Twelfth Night gan Shakespeare.
Mae teulu melancolig, piwritanaidd Olivia yn gwrthdaro’n ffyrnig ag awch anniwall Syr Toby am gyfeddach feddwol. Mae ymgyrch ddidostur Orsino i ennill calon Olivia a thrawsnewidiad anhygoel Malvolio yn nodweddu gwallgofrwydd cariad yn Illyria: y wlad hud a lledrith.
Y stori ramant, ddychanol hon am gam-adnabod yw un o gynyrchiadau mwyaf cyffrous a hygyrch dramâu Shakespeare yn ystod y blynyddoedd diwethaf. Dewch i brofi gwallgofrwydd cariad yn y byd byrbwyll hwn lle mae cythrwfl a Shakespeare yn dod ynghyd.

The two halves of Michael Keegan-Dolan’s thrilling dance theatre double bill are a contrast in light and dark that mirrors the Stravinsky music of the same name.
The imagery in The Rite of Spring is dark, shocking, violent and sexual. The rhythmic elements of the music are played out in scenes of a pagan fertility rite, as age is sacrificed and mother earth is worshipped. By contrast Petrushka is bright and light. Elements of folk dances and warmer days are conjured as the company dances for approval from their ancestors.
Performed by an international cast of 14, both works are theatrical interpretations of the original music that created such outrage and excitement in the early 20th century.
Mae dau hanner perfformiad theatr ddawns gyffrous Michael Keegan-Dolan yn wrthgyferbyniad o oleuni a thywyllwch sy’n adlewyrchu cerddoriaeth Stravinsky o’r un enw. Mae’r delweddau yn The Rite of Spring yn dywyll, yn syfrdanol, yn dreisgar ac yn rhywiol. Caiff elfennau rhythmig y gerddoriaeth eu chwarae yn y golygfeydd o ddefod ffrwythlondeb baganaidd, pan gaiff oed ei aberthu a phan gaiff mam y ddaear ei haddoli.
Mewn gwrthgyferbyniad mae Petrushka yn olau ac yn ysgafn. Ceir ynddi elfennau o ddawnsio gwerin a dyddiau cynhesach wrth i gyplau ddawnsio i ennyn cymeradwyaeth eu hynafiaid.
Wedi’u perfformio gan gast rhyngwladol o 14 o ddawnswyr, mae’r ddau ddarn o waith yn ddehongliadau theatraidd o gerddoriaeth wreiddiol a greodd gymaint o ddicter a chyffro ar ddechrau’r ugeinfed ganrif.
The UK tour is funded by the National Lottery through Arts Council England and the Arts Council of Wales, and supported by Culture Ireland. The Rite of Spring & Petrushka is a Fabulous Beast Dance Theatre production in collaboration with Sadler’s Wells, co-produced with Movimentos Festwochen der Autostadt in Wolfsburg, Brisbane Festival, Galway Arts Festival and Melbourne Festival. The Rite of Spring was developed as a co-production between English National Opera and Fabulous Beast Dance Theatre. Under Milk Wood: an OperaTaliesin Arts Centre
In 1954 Dylan Thomas caused a literary storm with his play for voices, Under Milk Wood. Sixty years on, Wales’ leading opera composer, John Metcalf creates a groundbreaking new opera and recreates Thomas’ world of Llareggub - the town that went mad.
Under Milk Wood: an Opera weaves together extraordinary poetic and comic language, contemporary and ancient instrumental music, recorded and live sound, as this 13-strong company of singers and multi-instrumentalists creates a feast for the ears.
Come join blind, old Captain Cat and his fellow villagers cradling their hopes and dreams in Llareggub.
Ym 1954 creodd Dylan Thomas storm lenyddol gyda’i ddrama leisiol, Under Milk Wood. Drigain mlynedd yn ddiweddarach, mae cyfansoddwr opera mwyaf blaenllaw Cymru, John Metcalf yn creu opera sy’n torri tir newydd ac sy’n ail-greu byd Thomas o Llareggub - y pentref a aeth yn wallgof.
Caiff iaith farddonol a digrif, cerddoriaeth offerynnol fyw hen a newydd a cherddoriaeth, wedi’i recordio eu cydblethu wrth i’r cwmni o 13 o gantorion ac amlofferynwyr greu gwledd i’r glust.
Dewch i ymuno â’r hen Gapten Cat dall a’i gyd-bentrefwyr yn ymgolli yn eu gobeithion a’u breuddwydion yn Llareggub.

Not Now BernardUnicorn Theatre
“There’s a monster in the garden and it’s going to eat me,” said Bernard.
Bernard’s got a problem.
He’s found a monster in the back garden and his mum and dad are just too busy to notice. So Bernard tries to befriend the monster... and that doesn’t go quite to plan.
Loved by children, adults and monsters for over thirty years, David McKee’s iconic picture-book will be vividly brought to life on the Sherman Theatre stage.
“Mae yna fwystfil yn yr ardd ac mae’n mynd i fy mwyta i,” meddai Bernard.
Mae gan Bernard broblem.
Mae wedi darganfod bwystfil yn yr ardd gefn ac mae ei fam a’i dad yn rhy brysur i sylwi. Felly ceisiodd Bernard fod yn ffrind i’r bwystfil… ac nid yw pethau’n mynd fel y dylent.
Wedi ei fwynhau gan blant, oedolion a bwystfilod ers dros ddeng mlynedd ar hugain, bydd llyfr lluniau eiconig David McKee yn dod yn fyw ar lwyfan Theatr y Sherman.
