The main character is Nathan Garrideb who asked Sherlock Holmes to help him because John Garrideb, an American lawyer, visited him and talked with him about a property of A.H.Garrideb. This man let his property to people who had the same surname as him.

But John Garrideb was not a lawyer, he did not want the property and his real name was Killer Evans because he had killed several people. When he returned from the prison he started looking for a machinery for printing forged notes which was hidden in a house, where Nathan Garrideb lived.

So he wrote an advertisement to a Birmingham’s local newspaper as Howard Garrideb in order to bring Nathan Garrideb to Birmingham.

When Nathan left his house, John came there and he wanted to find the machinery. But Sherlock Holmes did not believe him and he was waiting for him, when John arrived.

So John was arrested and the police found the machinery which had been hidden for several years. However, Nathan Garrideb was taken to a special hospital.

My opinions

+ thrilling, interesting and fast plot

+ S.Holmes see all details, he is very hard-working

+ all cases are solved

- stories are short, similar and it is clear that S.Holmes will solve them - I think that the main idea in The Three Garridebs is unreal, because there are a lot of same surnames in the world

I like detective stories so I like this book but the stories were too short.

Language

eagerness – nedočkavost, horlivost

anxiety – úzkost, strach

consciousness – vědomí

forgetfulness – zapomnětlivost

forger – padělatel

quarrel – hádka, hádat se

The story was not difficult to read, but not easy, either, because I do not read English books. But I understood almost all words.
