SUMMER SUNDAYS AND SUNSHINE
Summer Sundays, beginning in June, will look a little different than our routine Sunday
morning format. We hope you will all be involved in 9:00 a.m. Sunday School. All classes
will be active, but our curriculum might morph to provide more topical studies for those
who are interested. You will hear more on this later.
Worship for Summer Sundays will be at 10:15 a.m. as usual, but will feature more guitars
and a praise band to supplement our worship team and traditional service. Our choir gets
some rest this summer, but will be singing monthly rather than weekly as in the standard
year. Tom Spriggel will provide new leadership for this section of Summer Sundays. (Yes,
you will have to put up with the same old preacher through the summer, but the change in
worship format may make his preaching improve!)
And also, Summer Sunshine. Check elsewhere in the Grace Notes for the Summer Sunshine
schedule of activities. It will be a wonderful 2019 for service, worship, fellowship and
growth.

Pastor

I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me. Philippians 4:13
The Lord bless you and keep you;
the Lord make his face to shine upon you,
and be gracious to you;
the Lord lift up his countenance upon you,
and give you peace.

A SWEET LESSON IN HUMANITY
Years ago, a 10 year old boy approached the counter of a soda shop and climbed on to a stool. “What does an ice cream sundae cost?” he asked the waitress.
“Fifty cents,” she answered.
The youngster reached deep in his pockets and pulled out an assortment of change, counting it carefully as the waitress grew impatient. She had “bigger” customers to wait on.
“Well, how much would just plain ice cream be?” the boy asked.
The waitress responded with noticeable irritation in her voice, “Thirty five cents.”
Again, the boy slowly counted his money. “May I have some plain ice cream in a dish then, please?” He gave the waitress the correct amount, and she brought him the ice cream.
Later, the waitress returned to clear the boy’s dish and when she picked it up, she felt a lump in her throat. There on the counter the boy had left two nickels and five pennies. She realized that he had had enough money for the sundae, but sacrificed it so that he could leave her a tip.
The moral: Before passing judgment, first treat others with courtesy, dignity and respect.

BANANA TREE PROTEST!
Dear Loved Ones,
Greeting. To live in Haiti, one needs some nice dose of humor. It breaks the monotony of life and gives us something to laugh about.
Take this case of banana tree planted in the middle of the road. Well, here is the meaning. The actual president campaigned on basis of bananas. At that time, he had a nice and flourishing banana farm. Now people are waiting to improve roads, but it seems that the progress on roads is slow, so from time to time when people are fed up with dust and holes on the roads, they will plant bananas in the middle of the roads as a reminder of campaign promises.
Enjoy.
