Welcome to the very first edition of the Shepherd Weekly Digest, a publication that I hopeto maintain for as long as there is news to print. As you can imagine, this is going to bequite an undertaking, but I'm confident that technology and a little extra work will help mewith the production of each issue.

News
The new Shepherd High School gymnasium
The big news last month was the completion of the new High School gym. The ribboncutting ceremony was Friday, February 19 in between the girls and boys varsity basketballgames. I haven't been inside the new HS gym, but I've heard great things about it.
Daddy/Daughter Dance
On Friday, February 12 my daughter Kayla and I attended the Daddy-Daughter Dance atthe Shepherd Middle School. I know the drill by now: dance with Kayla during the slowsongs, and then watch her run and play during the fast ones. Although, she did end upspending more time with me than in previous years.
This was the first year that Kayla and I could dance together without my having to pick herup and carry her. She actually does come up to my armpits now, and that's remarkablesince I can remember when she was still just a small fry still learning to walk and trying tosee over the top of my bed.
Idea: Let's start an album of portraits from the Daddy-Daughter Dance. Fathers, scan andupload your photo to the Shepherd Today fan page.

Maple Syrup Festival
Shepherd will be celebrating its annual Maple Syrup Festival in April. Stay tuned to the fanpage on Facebook and the Maple Syrup Festival website for news, information and othertypes of coverage.
PTO Spring Carnival

Kindergarten Parent Meeting
It seems like it was so long ago since we were attending this meeting for our kids, but reallyits been only a couple of years. The Kindergarten meeting for parents only will be heldinside the Shepherd High School cafeteria at 6:30 p.m. Check out the event inside Facebookto find out more.

Journey Back in Time 2010
Journey Back in Time 2010 is a group of students from Shepherd High School who are goingon a 2 week summer field study out west. One of the weeks will be spent participating in anactual dinosaur dig.To help raise funds for this once in a life time experience they will be holding aScrapbooking "Crop" on May 1, 2010 at St. Vincent's parish hall.For more information contact Ann Schultz at: (989) 330-4567.
