The Anna Lady Rockets brought home the Division III State Girls Basketball Championship for the second time in the last three years after earning their third consecutive trip to the state tournament. After edging Versailles in the sectional finals, Anna rolled through district, regional and state competition without being tested to win the school's third girls state basketball title. They finished with a 26-4 record, and won their last five tournament games by an average of 19.4. Anna sophomore Cayla Bensman dribbles out of trouble in the Division III state semifinals against Orrville in Columbus. Bensman was a key player for the Lady Rockets, who won their second state title in the past three seasons. Fort Loramie had been to the girls state basketball tournament six times prior to this year and came up empty each time, but this year's team put an end to that drought by winning the Division IV Championship and giving the Shelby County League two of the four girls state champions this season. The Lady Redskins had to do it the hard way, beating No. 1-ranked Ottoville in the semifinals in Columbus in overtime, and No. 2-ranked Berlin Hiland in the championship game for the school's first girls state championship. They finished the season with a 27-3 record. Fort Loramie's Meg Westerheide heads up the floor in state championship game action against Berlin Hiland. Westerheide hit the game-tying shot in the semifinals against Ottoville to send the game to overtime. The Lady Redskins dominated the extra session to advance to the championship game, which they won over Hiland. Oh what a SEASON... STATE CHAMPS! Congratulations to all! Congratulations to all!
