RAINFOREST DAMAGE
By: Mackenzie Sheidy
Interesting Facts
Deforestation- is the action of chopping down trees to clear out the forest.
Rain forests cover 6% of the land today, but along time ago 14 % of the land was covered.
Experts believe that in less than 40 years the remaining rainforest will be used up.
Interesting Facts
Every year 50 million acres of land get cleared for logging, cattle ranching, mining for gold, natural disasters , farming , high ways & new developments.
It is very sad that all these trees are getting cut down in the rainforest. The animals need these trees to live. Even the wildcats need trees like the jaguar ,margay ,ocelot , and leopard cats. They are very good tree climbers even though they spend most of there time on the ground.
Lesson Learned
I learned that….. There are 200 million people that live in the rainforest. Some of the people come from tribes such as the American Indians. They use the forest and it’s resources to survive. You may find latex { which is part of rubber } in some of the rainforest trees . They get latex by cutting a gash in the tree and putting a cylinder into it and then it drains into a bucket. I learned from McKeever that everything on earth is connected including plants ,animals, and people . This means we need trees for us and animals to survive.
Spreading the Word
I plan to spread the word to others by….. Posting a video on you tube about how much damage is being done on the rainforest. I would also make flyers that way everyone who doesn’t have internet could see the big problem. Finally I would go to a manufacturer to see if they could donate any of their profits for planting trees in the rainforest.
My Pledge
I pledge to….. Educate people by telling them what the rain forest is all about and how it is being destroyed. I will show them pictures and tell them to tell other people. I hope there are people who want to learn about the rainforests so everyone will know.
