THE CHALLENGE As new regulations came into force due to the adoption of OSHA’s Hazard Communication Standard (HCS 2012), the US-based entertainment company realized it needed to overhaul its existing electronic SDS notebook with GHS- compliant SDSs to maintain compliance. The entertainment company had been a long-time customer of an SDS management software provider. When asked about transitioning their documents to GHS, the software provider was unresponsive and lacked the software to track compliance. In addition, an overhaul of the company’s entire SDS notebook was going to cost a fortune with expensive fees charged for each document to be updated. The entertainment company also needed better search, view, print functionality for employees right to understand and HCS 2012 compliance. Employees also had difficulty identifying the most up-to-date SDS version. They needed a solution to help take the guesswork out of comparing multiple versions of SDSs. THE SOLUTION Starting with an on-site chemical inventory, the entertainment company generated a clean slate of materials for their facility.
