Cherrywood Fabrics, based in Brainerd, Minn, created “THE WICKED CHERRYWOOD CHALLENGE 2014.” Artists from all over the U.S. were inspired by their luscious hand-dyed fabric to cre-ate something wicked! All quilters were challenged to use the exclusive "Wicked Greens" and black to make a 20-inch square quilt using the theme "WICKED." Most were influenced by the Broadway hit musical WICKED™, and some express other inter-pretations of the word "wicked".

OUR GRATITUDE to the folks at Cherrywood Fabrics for squeezing The Arts Center In Orange into Wicked’s busy exhibition tour, and to our good friend Cyndi Souder of Moonlighting Quilts for making all of the arrangements!

More art up the street...Sharon Zarambo At The Light Well thru March 28Visit the Light Well Tavern at 110 E. Main Street in Orange to see the amazing paintings & assemblage of Madison County artist Sharon Zarambo. www.bellozarstudio.com

“Art that has color, pattern & texture appeals to me. I work on multiple projects at a time. I enjoy sewing, embellishing jackets with different fibers and buttons. Following a “one of a kind” jacket, I was inspired to paint unique sneakers. I use the same acrylic/fabric paint that is used on my wall hangings and pillows. I like the subject matter to be joy-filled and fun to look at, with attention to small details. The mixed media combine the objects, paint and resin in hopes of creating an interesting piece.”

“Orange, VA” A Novel by Michael Abraham

When Marjorie Taliaferro’s beloved twin sister Sally Taliaferro Bradley is stricken with breast cancer, it’s tragic enough. But when the governorship of the Commonwealth of Virginia, a position Sally rightfully deserves, is wrested from her during her infirmity, it is an action that cannot stand. Marjorie and her life partner Liza Randolph, along with a cadre of supporters, lay forth plans to recapture Sally’s lawful position and along with it a measure of fair governance to the state.

Michael Abraham is the author of six books: - Orange, VA is a novel of political intrigue. - War, WV is a novel of the fight for justice in the Appalachian coal fields. - Providence, VA is a novel of inner strength found in adversity. - Harmonic Highways is a non-fiction look at Virginia’s Crooked Road. - Union, WV is a novel of loss, healing, and redemption in contemporary Appalachia. - The Spine of the Virginias is a non-fiction account of journeys along the border of Virginia and West Virginia.

He is a native of Christiansburg and a graduate of Christiansburg High School and Virginia Tech with a degree in Mechanical Engineering. He has had a varied career in engineering, sales, marketing, business management, and real estate management. He currently splits his time between the management of an industrial shell building in Christiansburg and his writing career. He lives in Blacksburg with his wife, two dogs, and four motorcycles. He and his wife have one daughter, now a student at Virginia Tech. He can be reached at [email protected]. His website is www.bikemike.name .

Ms. Imhoff oversees all aspects of The Montpelier Foundation, including the man-agement of the historic mansion and grounds, its diverse education and museum programs, and The Robert H. Smith Center for the Con-stitution. Under Ms. Imhoff’s leadership, The Montpelier Foundation recently announced a leadership gift of $10 million from David M. Rubenstein towards completing the restora-tion and refurnishing of Madison’s home, and the reconstruction of enslaved community sites , programs core to Montpelier’s mission to inspire public engagement with American constitutional self-government by bringing to life the home and contributions of James and Dolley Madison.

Ms. Imhoff will discuss ways in which she en-visions this mission being inclusive of all the diverse communities Montpelier seeks to serve. Please join Kat to hear more about the chang-es on the horizon for the historic site and join the conversation about why history indeed matters.
