n PROGRAM OVERVIEW Doo-do-doo-do-doo-doo…Who doesn’t recognize the Baby Shark song... or the Jaws theme music? Shark Week is THE summer TV event! In my second grade REACH (Realizing Excellence through Advanced Academic Curriculum of Hardee) classroom it’s a week of fun, exciting lessons across all areas of the curriculum. The week is the perfect time to review, practice and reinforce for end of year testing. The content is highly motivating and the activities are engaging. Students love using digital interactive notebooks (Google Slides) to keep track of it all and share their learning via FlipGrid The week begins when the students enter the classroom through caution tape and warning signs. Decorations draw them in and set the tone. Throughout the week we read several books, both fiction and nonfiction; have shark related spelling and vocabulary; math drawn from the books; the science of sharks; geography: where to find sharks; even some character education!… You just can’t get that tune out of your head.
