If something is literally bittersweet, it tastes both bitter and sweet at the same time—like a piece of dark chocolate. Different events can be bittersweet too—circumstances that are both painful and pleasant at the same time. Palm Sunday is bittersweet. As we picture Jesus riding into Jerusalem that first Palm Sunday, we don’t know whether to cry or laugh. Does Jesus enter the city in lowliness or pomp? Is He coming to bow His head to die or to reign in power? The answer is bittersweet: yes. Jesus comes in both of these ways and for both of these reasons. As we enter Holy Week, however, we remember that the bitterness of Palm Sunday’s humility, the bitterness of Maundy Thursday’s betrayal, and the bitterness of Good Friday’s death will undoubtedly give way to the sweetness of Easter Sunday’s resurrection and life! PRAYER VIGIL March 25-26, 2016 A Prayer Vigil is being planned following the Good Friday evening service through 8:00 a.m. on Saturday. Prayer participants will commit to praying for 30 minutes to one hour. Greeters will al- so be needed to hand out prayer cards, escort par- ticipants and watch the door during the overnight hours. Prayers will be offered for people around the world and members will also have an opportunity to make known their own specific prayer requests. Another Seed to Sow: Make Easter cookies or other goodies and deliver them to the neighbors. Mention that you enjoy going to Holy Cross on East-er. They just might want to come with you. Be ready to extend the invitation.

“REACHING THE LOST & STRENGTHENING THE SAVED”

IMMEASURABLY MORE CAMPAIGN

The second phase of the Holy Cross Capital Campaign is the Inspire Phase. Teams are developing plans for inspiring weekends, Bible studies, an initial commitments event, a commitment celebration and follow-up. These activities will occur as we prepare to meet our four primary goals:

Missions Debt Elimination

Grow our Church Endowment Provide for much-needed Facilities Improvements

“Now to Him who is able to do immeasurably more than all we ask or imagine according to His power that is at work within us to Him be glory in the church and in Christ Jesus throughout all generations, for ever and ever! Amen.” - Ephesians 3:20-21

Make plans to attend Easter breakfast next Sunday, March 27th starting around 7:00 a.m. (after Sunrise service) until 10:45 a.m. We will be serving egg casserole, homemade cinnamon rolls, bacon/sausage, fruit, juice and coffee. A freewill offering will be received to help defray travel costs for Ali Walton and Tori Bone, who will be attending the National Youth Gathering in New Orleans in July as college volunteers. Each college volunteer is required to pay a registration fee of $325. In addition, all volunteers must pay their own way from their hometown (Wichita) to New Orleans.

Volunteer help is needed to prepare breakfast, set tables, clear tables as people leave, and do the final clean up. Middle School and High School youth helpers are welcome. If you would be willing to help by baking an egg casserole, recipes and pans are available at a table in the Narthex (entryway to the Worship Center). Casseroles should be returned (unbaked) to church on Saturday, March 26th. If you can volunteer, please contact Deb Hoyer at [email protected] or 841-9131.

You can also preorder cinnamon rolls to go—12 rolls for $15. Please note on your attendance card or call the Church Office (684-5201) by 5:00 p.m. on Thursday, March 24th, if you would like to preorder.

THE BLESSING PLACE The Blessing Place (church nursery) will be NOT be staffed on Easter weekend, March 26th/27th, so our faithful volun-teers may worship and celebrate together with their own family. If you have an inconsolable child under the age of three, you are welcome to stay with your child in the nursery. Busy bags are also available at the doorway to the Worship Center.

DO-IT-YOURSELF SURPRISE EASTER EGG HUNT!

Share the “egg-citement” of Easter with your friends and neighbors! Here’s the basic plan: Get 12 color-ful plastic Easter eggs and some candy. Fill 11 of the eggs with candy, leaving one empty. Hide the eggs in the yard of a friend to whom you would like to witness. Flyers are available at the Visitors’ Cen-ter that explain: “There are 12 colorful eggs hidden in your yard! Enjoy the hunt. One of the eggs is empty. It’s a reminder of Jesus’ empty tomb—for He is Risen!”

SECOND SATURDAY THANKS!

Thanks to the team who provided our Second Satur-day meal this past weekend! The food was deli-cious! We need extra help for future events. Would you like to help? Contact Kent Stephens at 684-5201 or [email protected].

CLEANUP DAY The Property Management Commission has set the date of Saturday, April 2nd for spring cleanup. We will begin the day at 7:00 a.m. with a pancake feed in the Fellowship Hall and a devotion led by Pastor Myers. Come and share your time and talents and make new friends as you serve the Lord beautifying His grounds. All are welcome! Your time of volun-teering helps with the church budget. Outside work is scheduled from 8:00 a.m.-12:00 p.m. Stay for any or all of it. If you have any questions, call or text Rick Wagner at 316-708-0460.

HOMELESS MEAL!

Our next homeless meal is Wednesday, April 6th and features: tuna noodle bake, mixed veggies, garlic bread and cookies! We need your help with food do-nations and help with food prep. Check the sign-up sheet on the Outreach bulletin board in the main hall-way between the Worship Center and Commons ar-ea. Please bring food items to the Church Kitchen by 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday, April 5th.

INTRO TO HOLY CROSS GATHERING

Have you thought about becoming a member of

Holy Cross, or would you like to learn more about the possibility? To assist you in that process, we

have developed a one-session “Intro to Holy Cross” get-together for you to explore membership at Holy

Cross. Even if you’ve already decided you would like to become a member, this is your first step. We will

give a brief overview of the church, its mission and your role in that mission.

The class is offered on the last Saturday and Sun-

day of each month, so the next classes are Satur-day, March 26th at 4:45 p.m. in the Conference

Room in the Church Office area, and Sunday, March 27th during the Bible study hour (9:45-10:45 a.m.) in the Church Office Reception area. We invite you to come so we can learn more about God’s mis-

sion for us together!

WELCOMING GUESTS

Holy Cross is blessed by the number of

guests who join us in our worship services. Last

weekend, we were joined by 46 guests. One or more of these individuals may have been sitting next to you. Did you help to make them feel welcome?

WEDNESDAY MORNING MEN’S BIBLE STUDY

We would like to invite ALL the men at Holy Cross to join our new Men’s Bible Study which meets in the Church Library every Wednesday morning from 6:30 to 7:30 a.m. We have nine men who are already benefiting from an intentional time of Bible reading and discussion around current topics that affect the Christian men of today. Our current study is called “Running the Race” and is described as follows: “Commitment, training, endurance, attitude—it's the stuff legends are made of—both in the lives of world-class athletes and true men of God. See how the lessons learned from sports are applicable to the real-life world of following Jesus in ‘Running The Race.’” If you have any questions about the study, please contact Brian Amey or Kent Hoyer at 684-5201 or Brett Walton at 258-9431.

Thank you to my Holy Cross family for the many prayers dur-ing my recent hospitalization and illness. A very special thank you

to Pastors Myers and Snow for the hospital visits and prayers. I was really touched by the card written by one of the Holy Cross School students, which was delivered by Pastor Snow. I am improving daily and hope to rejoin you in worship soon.

For a family whose three sons are involved in drugs. Pray that they all will seek and follow God’s will.

That the people of our nation would do all in their power to elect Godly men and women to lead our government. Please pray that all eligible vot-ers would be informed and vote.

Thank You.
